Gee, sorry to hear about the damage caused by the shipping. A common fear of those of us you buy online. But I'm glad you were able to get it all put back together and running again. It is indeed a beautiful model! K-Line made some really great product. Bill B.
Glad everything worked out! If you didn't tell me that engine is semi-scale, I honestly wouldn't be able to tell. Love the way it smokes too!! Boy do I love K-Line - Ryan
Still can’t believe someone would be so careless with shipping that thing. Absolutely wild. Super happy though the guys on IG were able to help you resolve the issue and now it’s working as good as new!
So glad you were able to figure out how to get it running again, I was genuinely concerned you were gonna have to return it, as a daylight man thinking about someone lacking one hurts! (I’m mwtrains lmao this is my main UA-cam account) beautiful engine man!
Sometimes I think people pack items this way because they already know things are wrong with them. That way they can Blame the Carrier. Glad you got it running.
Strange they didn’t shove something in the master carton to keep the finished carton from moving around. Sounds like you must have a clue around circuit boards. I bought a k line from 2008 at a show that has been problematic. I’m scared to buy second hand comand engines now. I had to drive back to the show the second day. Pay for the parking and pay to get back in the show again to find the seller who sold me the locomotive. So it cost another $30 dollars just to find the seller again. I had no intention of going to the show the second day. Now it’s been 2 yrs because it’s supposed to work flawlessly with command. Yes been waiting on the base 3. At least it moves on the track conventional now. Looks like your story had a happy ending. Hopefully I can say the same when the base 3 arrives.
Yeah I was flummoxed when I opened the box. Was supposed to be a happy exciting moment for my son and I and then I realized uh oh this isn’t gonna go how I had hoped. Got some help, did some work, it’s up and running! 😅
You should get an amtrak F40PH number 283 in o scale ant paint over the stripes on the front with the gray on the other parts of the engine and hide the hotweels railroad amtrak f40 from you son so you can tell your son "the amtrak grew up"😂
I have a running joke that I buy a train and have it shipped I know it’s going to broken. Ups usps fedex doesn’t matter they broke everything from post war to brand new straight from the factory. Some stuff I couldn’t fix and then got a 400 dollar bill from Lionel to fix it.
This is the first time I’ve had an issue with shipping damage. And it wasn’t even the shipping company’s fault… the seller failed to put any sort of packing inside to keep the K-Line Box in place.

So sorry to hear about your Day-Light. Awesome to see you were able to finally get it up and running. 👍
Wow it looks amazing! That’s my favorite engine of all time! I have a William Bachman version of it!

Lovely engine! I’d like to get a Daylight myself one day!
