Great video. The Big Boy always gets my vote.
One cool thing to note is that the Lionchief 2.0 Big Boy actually has the same chuff sounds and whistle as the first VisionLine Big Boy from 2014!
Awesome! They both look nice! I would choose 4014. I like the whistle on that model better than 4006. 😊🚂
The whistle makes for a compelling argument! Sounds so good!!
thank you Dadified86
Cool comparison! Both are great models!
Great review! I’ve always been a fan of the Big Boy so watching them run on people’s layouts is a treat.
Awesome side by side and cool upgrades on 4014. I like the legacy version better. The sound dies it for me. 😃
Great break down! Love that you have two now, look so good on the layout together. I know what you mean, the decision between the two is not so easy, can't go wrong with either.
Awesome comparison between the two! Love it man keep up the good work!
Thanks a ton! I never thought we’d have both here. Original plan was just to find the LC2 but that proved to be tricky… so I went for a Legacy deal I couldn’t pass up. And then nearly a year later this 4014 fell into place.
Nice video review and comparison Mike! It must be amazing to have 2 Big Boys in your collection. From your comparison, I like all of the operating options on 4014 but, for me, I prefer the more specific comms and sounds on 4006. But, that’s just my opinion. As an American Flyer modeler, it’s not likely I’ll have a Big Boy in my collection so I’ll enjoy watching everyone else’s.
That’s such a crime. I’ll start a petition for a Flyer Big Boy if you help me with one for a LionMaster 844 😂
@@Dadified86 Count me in.
I’m hoping that they will make a LC+ 2.0 Challenger collection when the real one is restored. Also, I don’t have TMCC or Legacy, but I wonder if the LC+ 2.0 Big Boy would have more dialogue when run under TMCC?
There’s more generic crewtalk if you have it on TMCC or Legacy. I have a few engines that share that dialogue as well.
These locomotives scream America! 🎉🇺🇸

Nice review, what’s the true LC2 minimum curve?
So far it’s handled everything I have. It says it can handle O31 and my sharpest curves are O36. There’s a lot of weight up top, so running full throttle through tight corners will likely end in a derailment but otherwise they’ll use their articulated witchcraft to stay on the rails.
Wow
I have the 4006 and love it. But i have a problem with the front headlight it's always dim the back light is bright when backing going in reverse. does any one have an answer as to why.
Yeah I noticed the front light is weaker, too. Mostly due to the orientation of the light in the front housing. My challenger is the same way. But we upgraded them to have LEDs up front. I made a video about a month ago called “Night Train Upgrades” that covers how we did it.
