The manager of a band i used to be in years ago, was also the Stranglers tour manager. As the bass player, i used to get JJ's cast off bass strings. He only used them once, so they were basically brand new. Saved me a fortune! I did get to meet JJ after one gig. He was my hero. He was also pissed.

Loved the way JJ 'turned the tables' on John when he was asked about his relationship with Hugh 😉

Waiting for my signed book to make its way to Australia. Always love listening to JJ and can’t wait for the UK 50 year tour - making a pilgrimage!

      I remember seeing that lol
      79 to 81 ish
Went to the rainbow gig when Hugh was in prison ….
Seeing girls kissing him and he just kept playing like it was nothing
      He was incredibly good looking
Wrote to him few times via strangled
I was very young and impressed that he wrote back
Same interests as him motorcycles karate music etc
      Very philosophic spiritual person
      He also attempted suicide
      No more heroes

The Stranglers were headlining Sunderland Kubix Festival, Hugh Cornwall was playing the second Stage, Hugh was fantastic. Rob was at Sunderland one year, spotted speaking to John Power (Cast) behind the main stage.

The Stranglers are the most talented lot of their era. Dave Greenfield first and foremost, but they were all very talented players

No questions on JJs family life .... I would have thought that this is one of the most basic questions. A most articulate and brilliant man and wonderful individual... plus most talented musician.... love to promote his stuff

Do you remember the name of the record shop just behind St.Annes Square (there was a girl that worked in there with pink hair called Gaye who dated JJ back in the day '77-'78 ish) ?
'Lost Record Shops in Blackpool' would be interesting to some of us Sandgrownians, I'd start with my local Melody House on Bond Street, where I would hang out aged 10-11.

Although, having read JJs book myself, it seemed to me that the "you are exactly like your father" bit might've been uncomfortable for JJ...

"weird chapter in that book" referring to the Steve Strange biography? I bet many had a good laugh about it esp when JJ responded by saying he shagged the arse of him. Would of liked to have been a fly on the wall, and when JJ punched Hugh Cornwell's lights out AND put him through a wall LoL
