Is the 1947 Ford wheelbase going to work with the 1940 Ford front end?

  • Now that we have the 1940 Ford body married to the 1947 Ford chassis we're going to apply the front end to see if the wheel base matches up with the front fenders. The body may need to be adjusted to make it work 🚨

Surprised the heck outta me the body looked so close to fitment. I am gonna have to say he will make it work with minimal surgery. Keep this content coming keeps me motivated to work on my own stuff. Thanks for your time and effort to show your thinking.

Ive no idea why this appeared in y recommended vids. I'm a Newfie living in London, England. I have zero interest in drag racing. But can I just say that I cannot understand how you found such a fabulous helper as Jolene. She is astonishing in that she actually HELPS you with your rebuild AND enjoys it! I'm amazed.
I'm making no comment on the bodywork, either.

1940-41 ford pickups have the same grill that are interchangeable the pickup hood is pickup only. Your right the standard 1940 has a hood that is smooth down the sides. Deluxe grills have the two piece cast and love red sides like you have with matching hood.. I love 40s. In 1941 only the 40 sheetmetal carried over on the sedan delivery and the 40 pickup carried over in 1941, with additional hood chrome. Your assistant is easy on the eyes, your lucky. She likes you and cats!👍

I don`t drive so when my buddy ask me if I wanna go to the Valley for the day and go for a hike and it`s my day off , well I just couldn`t say no . I hope yall had a good day , I know I did . Thanks for the great content .

Definitely badass ! Love that you're keeping it high/old school . My preference too . It's perfect on that chassis . Just adjust the wheel openings . And the guys that whine.... too far gone.... don't get it and don't know the fun of making the pieces . Wonderful job Chad . Great filming Jolene ! You've proven not too far gone .

I love your show. You mentioned a 351 windsor as you were getting the hood from the shed. If it was used in saltwater beware of rust inside the water jacket. I had to trash an engine block because of the amount of metal that was lost on the cylinder walls. Also many marines use stronger valve springs because of the way boats bounce in the water

Chad, I had a 39 coupe. The 39 Deluxe front, was the same as the 40 Standard. I knew a guy that put the deluxe front end on a 40 Standard cab, and because he swapped everything, fenders, hood, and grille, there was no problem mounting it to the body of the Standard. We weren't very sophisticated back in the late 50s, and he would not have had the tools or the experience to do the swap if there had been difficulties.

I had a 40 deluxe and so do you I changed mine to a 40 standard which was the same as a 39 deluxe they had different hoods and grills ( I liked the standard better) but it’s your car! Mine had a 389 tri power Pontiac automatic it had the looks when I opened the hood. Like you are going to have stay safe quit hurting yourself I broke up my body doing heavy things now I need a walker to get around several back surgeries I didn’t listen to anyone either. Good luck on the build. Also have been into boats and have several 351 w’s some have reversed rotation check it out.

It’s quite obvious that Chad is a car sculptor. His greatness Is in creating Unique car bodies. If you had a couple workers who specialized in running gear and electrical. You could pump out more cars and way more content. Just also film the workers doing engine stuff etc. wiring stuff etc. maybe even get a guy who does interior. It takes a team to make stuff flow. I hope you read this I enjoy watching your videos.

Really enjoying this car ! I applaud the idea of the 351 Ford and manual transmission ! The "hi-boy" design is more "visible"". It is effort well invested, as the finished product will be very impressive, And then you have a detailed, "filmed" history of the cars creation. This could be a showpiece.

    Hi Chad
The word you was thinking of when talking about how the wheels are looking further out than what you are looking for is the offset of the wheel.
The offset of a wheel is measured by the depth of the wheel that face's the inside.
It is measured from the face of the wheel that touches the hub to the rim of the wheel that will give you the depth of offset.
I hope that it is helpful for you to make a beautiful set of wheels for the front of the car.
