      Thank you!. I believe the corners I installed were old stock. I have heard that the guy that was originally making them passed away and these new molds don't seem to be as good.. Lots of modification to make them work.

    Nice to see YOU built it and not some $80K shop. I'm doin a '41 myself. Stuck w/ the wishbone front end but chassis eng rear. SB chevy and 350TH (same Lokar shift knob). Trying to capture the late '50s era hot rod.

      @@780SpeedCustom it's on the road, with the orig Henry paint! No cab rust but prime showing. Body work w/o disassembly starts next spring. Probably pull it apart next winter to paint it. Thanks

    need assistance on the hood latch, want to keep mine stock and is being stubborn. Safety latch is installed but doesn't hook the hood by 1/8-1/4", also the hood latch hook moves back a little just as I completely close the front lever and barely hooks the cross piece in front of radiator.

    • @780SpeedCustom
      @780SpeedCustom  4 дні тому +1

      There is some adjustment in the hood hinges from inside the cab. Might help align things a little better at the front. I had to dremel the holes out and move them down/forward. I don't know how the fenders/grille were supported from factory. I built custom brackets to get the front end at roughly the correct height. Fit and finish was never real great from the factory back then. I had to do alot of tweeking to get things to sit right. Ish. Hopefully this helps!

    Where did you order the cap corners and parts?

    • @780SpeedCustom
      @780SpeedCustom  Місяць тому

      I bought the cab corners from a local company " George Moir Antique Auto Parts " unfortunately they have closed up shop. Bob Drake makes a lot of aftermarket parts for old fords, chassis engineering inc for most the frame stuff. I buy a lot of parts from summit racing, jegs, and speedway motors.

  • @gerrybmalkin
    @gerrybmalkin 5 років тому

    is that the original frame for the truck I want to buy a 47 ford but I want the front sheetmetal like yours much nicer nice truck

    • @780SpeedCustom
      @780SpeedCustom  5 років тому

      Original frame yea, I believe 1935 - 1941 share the same frame. The 47 cab isn't much different. Subtle differences.. the door stamping, window frames, rear window etc. Westcott makes nice glass fenders/hood for the 40-41. Bob drake sells a replacement grille. 40-41 sheet metal is hard to come by.

    • @780SpeedCustom
      @780SpeedCustom  5 років тому

      Thank you! It's a lot of work but worth it in the end! Front suspension is mostly mustang 2, custom cross member because the 35-41 frame is narrower than a mustang 2. Companies like Chassis engineering or Heidts make kits for this. Rear end I'm running is a ford 9" out of a 1958 ford car as they are the correct width. I've changed the engine/trans since this video. Currently has a 6.0L LQ4 and a 4L60E trans. There are a number of companies that make parts for projects like this. BobDrake, Horton, Bitchin Products, and Wescott just to name a few.
