the dragonquest HD 2D style is exactly what i want for pokémon games
A pokemon in the HD 2d style would be perfect and honestly would be the only time i can understand gamwfreak not including all the pokemon. Theres well over 1000 at this point. Spriting all of them would be insanity, so if a game like this were to happen id actually understand them not including every pokemon
Game Freak isn't that big.
Metroid Prime 4 made me squeal, I'm not ashamed to admit it. Also super hyped for Zelda and while no one else probably cares I can't wait for the Marvel vs Capcom Collection.

People are programmed to be excited or not excited for the same things, it's always refreshing to see people like y'all that can enjoy these out of the norm announcements, most content creators just fan the flames too, they suck. I'm gonna single-handedly change how a lot of gamers approach these kinds of events and gaming in general, that's a promise.
My friend actually called me to talk about this collection, even though I don't play fighting games much, online play DID peak my interest though so I might try it out.

I watched the direct live and then came here just to see BeatEmUp’s reaction to Zelda and Metroid. I’m excited for Zelda: echoes. I have a feeling Metroid Prime 4 is going to be cross gen like BOTW. The 2025 release makes sense for this.

yeah 3 is super duper popular, especially in Japan.
in fact in a 2017 Famitsu poll on people's favorite RPG, Dragon Quest 3 came at number 2. It beat classics like Final Fantasy VII, Chrono Trigger, Xenogears (I don't consider it a classic but I know some do), and even Suikoden II. Only game it didn't beat was Persona 5.
It’s a prequel to 1 and 2.
With the HD2D artstyle 1 and 2 will be able to compare somewhat to 3.
Before 3 was the clear upgrade to 1 and 2 in terms of gameplay so they had to always release 1 and 2 first every time.

As someone who loves turn based RPGs, this was the best direct in a long time. (Does kinda suck if you aren't into them though, as it was definitely biased towards those.) New 2D Zelda and Prime 4 look amazing as well!
Interesting how the guy who calls his channel "BeatEmUps" had zero interest in the Beat em up style games or fighting games, but was immediately excited upon seeing Zelda and Mario Party.
Not judging as I have the same opinions and I have no interest in fighting games but I'm surprised he didn't know "Marvel vs Capcom 2" was like the Mother 3 of the fighting games, apparently it was a big stealth drop no one saw coming.
who wants to bet the metroid prime 4 gameplay was actually running on the next switch and could potentially be a cross gen/ launch title for the successor console ?
I think that the Switch version was shown here and there might be an even better looking version for the successor. Specifically that closeup shot of Sylux made me think his armor could be much more reflective.

I noticed how many times they worded the switch slightly differently, like x is coming to switch vs y is coming to switch platforms
Why do people keep expecting a Switch 2 announcement, despite the fact that Nintendo announced 4 years ago in a direct that it would not be coming until holiday 2025 at the earliest?
I remember them mentioning at one poinet that they planned the Swith to last around 10 years. I expect their next console to release in 2026 or 2027.

Im calling it now, Metroid Prime 4 will be a launch title for the Switch 2. It will work on the current Switch but at much lower resolution and only 30fps. Switch 2 should be 60fps and higher res.

I'm actually really glad that they're bringing Donkey Kong Country Returns to Switch in HD. I never got far in the Wii or 3DS versions and it'll be nice to have it on Switch in HD along with Tropical Freeze. But the new Zelda game and Metroid Prime 4 were the big wins. So excited!

Funko Fusion looks like it'll be one of those fun but amazingly jank games.
Denpa men looks like one of those 3ds spot pass games. The one where you go on an adventure to rescue the princess or whatever.
This direct was very good. Some misses but the hits have me really hype. New Zelda, Metroid Prime, Mario and Luigi, etc. That's before we even start talking RPGs that dropped too.

I would NOT recommend playing Dragon Quest in that order. Play them in numbered order as intended. You'll get the best experience.
Yeah...I'd assume it's like watching Star Wars in the 1 2 3 4 5 6 order (which is wrong...best to know how 4 5 6 goes first)
The HD2D remakes of 1 and 2 will play significantly better than they used to.
They will probably add a few things to Dragon Quest 1 in the remake as well.

The funko pop game doesn't look too bad surprisingly.
Playing as Zelda with so many Echo possibilities is what excited me the most.
I never really got into Metroid Prime except some of Hunters (DS) so Metroid Prime 4 wasn't as exciting for me...

I think this metroid 4 was made with low level switch coding to make it look like this, it looks awesome, retr sutio did an excellent job with prime 4.

I don't know if it's already been mentioned or you found out otherwise, but Dragon Quest I & II are already on the Switch as direct ports (I think of their SNES versions, though I'm not sure), so anyone who already has those can pick up III and skip out on I and II if they want.

@draculathevampire934 Yeah, but he did talk about thinking it's weird the third one is coming out first. As someone who already has the first 2, the third one is the only one I'm interested in buying in HD-2D form, anyway, so between them already being available and III being a prequel to I, it does actually make sense the release order.
The HD2D version of 1 and 2 will actually be worth it for the presentation alone.
