The results were pretty darn good! Unsolicited advice... try using some super sculpey for larger miniatures with the same type of armature. CosClay for any really thin part like the fingers as sculpey can be brittle when thin. Bake and bond (liquid polymer clay) is used for bonding or smoothing/texturing.
Thank you my man, I asked for recommendations towards the end so they’re much appreciated! Gonna have a look into those for my next project, thanks for watching!
Hey for a amateur sculpting project, i'm calling this a hell of a great job. As artist we always see imperfections in our projects but if you are looking at it from table top range and even up close DAMN it looks really good, I dub thee Swamp Rat Van Go 😁 Moth or stag beetle, heck why not fuse both together the cool pretty cute fluffiness of the moth and the epic mecha tyrannid armour plating of the stag beetle. So keep sculpting and practicing you'll find your skills improving. colour me impressed and proud for you
Hey thank you so much, honestly that means a lot to me, really appreciate your kind words! A moth stag beetle hybrid is actually a great idea, might see if I can turn that into some kind of miniature haha, thanks again though, and thank you for watching!
@@SwampRatMiniaturesthank you for creating helpful and enjoyable content. i still go back and rewatch your mud video, and if you do make that moth stag beetle hybrid you should real make a video of that :)
Do it Leif! I still suck at sculpting but it’s really enjoyable, and we get a little better each time we do it, so it’s definitely worth a go! Hope you’re good my man
Hi Lexi, thanks for the suggestion! I have some DAS clay actually, I’ve not used it for making miniatures before but I will definitely give it a go, thanks for watching!
cut out the center part of your green stuff ribbon where the colors are in contact. there's a tiny cured bit in that area. that may have caused some of your imperfections. better yet, buy the tube of green stuff with the 2 parts stored separately.
Yeah good shout actually I did notice a bunch of the little harder cured pieces as I was mixing them out, had to try dig them out of the mini when I noticed them which caused a lot more work!
Stag beetle 😊
Definitely an awesome sculpt!!!!! You transformed hot glue, wire and green stuff into an incredible model!!! ❤❤❤
Thank you Cerise, I’m glad you think so! And I’m sad you won’t be joining the moth crew but us insects can all hang out together still 😄
@@SwampRatMiniatures you are welcome 🤗
lol 🪲
Great piece! You have a talent for it-- and more versatility in material choices is always an advantage.
Thank you! Definitely, trying out a few different materials for my next attempt, hoping to find something good

Brilliant! I should embrace my inner scultpor and start myself.

turned out awesome :)
Thanks Kurt, I think it looks good until you compare it to the actual miniature 😅 hope you’re good though and thanks for watching!
idk wth a mourngul is, but it looks great. nice work.
Hahaha thank you my man, appreciate you watching!
May I suggest DAS modellling clay, comes in one kilo blocks, can be made wet for working time with watered down PVA glue. Regards Lexi

Stag beetle for me.
Disappointed that you won’t be joining me in the mothy ranks, but I respect the choice, stag beetles are pretty hardcore, thanks for watching!
miliput superfine is less sticky than green stuff. sculpts about the same imho.
I’ve got some standard milliput but not the superfine stuff, I’ll give it a go!
Moth gang
Hell yeah, moth gang rise up
