This is the first thing I thought of when I saw the new Trail Hunter which comes with a stock sport bar. I would rather have a locking cover. I guess they assume only overland guys who want racks are going to get that trim. (Just make it an option)
I had a new 1980 Chevy S-10 4x4 pickup lifted with what we called a Light bar and had two KC lights on the bar. I used it for camping I would put a tarp over the bar for the covered wagon. this bar had 4 legs and mounted in the bed. When I look at your bar it is retro and takes me back to the 70's and 80's.
Its a dilemma; if you off road and want to sleep in the bed or keep gear from getting dusty then a roll up cover helps. Then you cant accent the truck w/ a chase rack. We used them in the 90’s to stand and shoot hogs, birds and just use as a brace to survey as you roll.
Hi Rob, I was looking to install the tyger Sport Bar, but my tacoma is about 4 inches from hitting the top of the garage door with the antenna What is the height of the bar from the bed, and I have on the oem tonneau cover will it fit with the hard cover?
I like the sport bar but I don’t have a desire for the pipe running along the top of the bed. (To me that was an 80’s style). 😂. Are the bed rails on the Tacoma and Gladiator close enough that it would fit the Gladiator? The taller height might work better there??? Think the only way you will get one the way you want it is to have it custom built and you will probably need to go with one of the hard roll up tonneaus that roll into a box at the front of the bed. Had one on a F150 15 years ago it leaked like it had holes in it. But so did the bakflip that replaced it.
@@RobMotive no but how much difference in size is the bed? I’m firmly convinced that my Gladiator tonneau is a compromise for at least one other truck. What I’m thinking is either of the sport bar or the tonneau might work on both vehicles. Maybe both especially if there is some adjustability in width on the sport bar. I mean the trucks look different but they are very similar in overall length & width.
@@RobMotive well think of the video potential of showing that a Tacoma do-dad will work as a gladiator do-dad. Even if you don’t leave it on the Gladiator just being able to move it is something worth knowing and sharing. Or put another way if you decide to sell the sport bar let me take some measurements I could be a player.
@@RobMotive if you go with the tubes running toward the back of the bed there can be no tonneau unless you go with one of the roll type that store in a box at the front of the bed.

Your old Tacoma looks better

Still like the custom green underlay 👍
Tyger roll bar looks good on Gladiator with a soft top.
I think the tiger rollbar looks good have one on my tacoma.
I love my Tyger bar , but I don't use a cover! The others are too much bar and tubing doest look good on tacoma in my option.
Thinking that I may have seen some sport bars that work with roll-up tonneau covers, but I may have been looking at something else.

Hey Nick. Since I now have the 4th Gen, I can’t measure it. I’ve never had the OEM tonneau so I can’t speak to that.

It might, but then no cover on the Tacoma.

I’d want the other bar on the Tacoma. So it doesn’t matter either way😐

did you install the bar first or the cover?
The cover slides into slots on the bar.
I like your Tyger bar better.
I like the Tiger because I have a cover. How can I get 1 of those Rob ?
Have a look at the description on my install video👍
It might look better if you add a roof rack maybe 🤷♂️
That probably would tie it all together 🤔
I love your truck! I normally like your mods and your taste, but I hate that grandpa looking sport bar.
Is there a purpose to the sports bar?
Lights, tie down points, aesthetics to name three👍
Stabilizes the truck in the event of it rolling in a crash and the bed from crumbling into the cabin. It also looks cool
