I just checked and Woodley Park no longer allows drone flying there anymore. They still allow flying small airplane models. Sad.

VFX Todd WHAT?!?! That sucks. I haven't been there for a while so it's news to me. I'll post an update on the video. Thanks for sharing!

What are you talking about?!? Drones have not been banned from Apollo. Please stop spreading misinformation. Apollo has never been a better place for drone pilots.

Apollo Air Field (aka Valley Flyers Club) is the best place to fly for fun and practice, whether you're a newbie or commercial. It's open to everyone. The weekends usually have food and beverages for sell too. It's an awesome place to see drones, helis and fixed wings fly in a big open area. Stay fly!

what gimbal was your friend using for his camera?

John Sarmiento Came TV single handed 3 axis gimbal. It broke soon after that. I DO NOT recommend it. Instead, I bought the Zhiyun Crane. It is much better.

Yes it is a drone friendly field, however fly in the designated drone area ,which is south side of the field behind the restrooms, stay off the control line circle, that does not belong to us, there plenty of room on the south side and don't interfere with the fixed wing runway traffic.

The club has a $35.00 yearly membership, but you must have AMA Insurance which they can assist you in doing

No, just show up with your own drone or model aircraft and follow the rules that are posted on the signs.

Deaf Mac Boi As long as you follow the rules. Also, there is a side reserved for drones. Don't fly it on the airstrip

The L.A. Explorer Thanks for reply. I am kinda nervous...you should come with me LOL by the way following the rules but need to call controller before flying a drone?

Deaf Mac Boi from my understanding, the closest airport is already aware of drones in the area so there is no need to contact them. I didn't, and I've gone there several times. Neither of the other guys there did either.
I'm not a lawyer but Drone laws sound a lot scarier than they are. From my experience, I've only been told not to use it if I'm near someone's private property. And when that happens I don't argue, I just put it away. Never had a cop or anyone called on me.
Though, I've lost control of it a couple of times so I would highly recommend flying it in an open space and not over any people or cars.

The L.A. Explorer ok thanks I will try go there next time. I was looking for open space so I could practice with my drone but I was afraid and yesterday I went to Balboa park and spent there for less than 15 min trying to figure out how to fly a drone and at same time I was nervous of being arrested. Anyway many thanks.
