problem is to the casual observer the mark on the wrist would look like child abuse...that is why la llorona is smart...she makes the mum look like she is abusing her kids the story is set in 1973 at the begining it said "1973, Los Angeles". it is set AFTER the first Conjuring film but before the second Conjuring film...so after ALL the Annabelle films. and yes La llorona is part of The Conjuring Universe it wasn't just any cross...it was a cross made from the tree where La llorona killed her kids...that is her weakness...as the priest guy said.
I thought Tara would've recognized the mom of the Alvarez boys. It's Patricia Velásquez. She was Anck-su-namun from the The Mummy!! I would never forget that beautiful face even after all those years ago.
Grew up to this story of la llorona my parents would use this like “ if you don’t go to bed early la llorona is gonna get you” I remember when i was younger I used to be awake all night sometimes and this story scared me. 😂
49:30 the reason she was in the trance in the first place is so La Llorona can lure her outside since she couldn't get inside the house, but after the seal was broken, there was no point in keeping the girl in that trance since all La Llorona has to do is just walk inside and snatch the kids
42:47 she was trying to get the doll her dead father gave her, she's a kid. It's not rational lol 🤘🏻 ALSO turn up he heat in that room poor Roxy is using candles to keep warm!
but she knows the curse she knows this thing is haunting them, the “she’s a kid” is an excuse she knew better that’s why she had to second guess if should she do it.
As far as I'm aware this is the only La Llorona movie connected to the Conjurverse, with the others just being other movies about La Llorona. I had heard about La Llorona from some of my Hispanic friends before going into seeing the movie myself, and yeah, the legend is accurate to what I had heard as well.
my grandma rarely speaks so much so people thinks she's mute, but when she does speak it''s only spanish. As a kid i remember never wanting to go to her house because she'd always talk about La Llorona and bless the house
Raymond Cruz, who plays Rafael, also played a detective in the TNT shows The Closer and its spinoff Major Crimes. Both are great shows and his character is fantastic, so it was fun seeing him in this.
Sam was in the Trance because La Llorono couldn't get in the house which is her way of her trying to get the kids to her. Once she got in the house she no longer needed the trance. It was a little misleading when he said the trance will break once she is dead.
From what I remember what was told was they didn’t wana advertise this movie as part of the conjuring universe cause they didn’t have confidence it was gona do well and it turned out being one of the best ones in the franchise
That is correct, because this was the first conjurverse movie directed by Michael chaves, instead of James Wan. Which is why they were afraid expectations would be high if they advertised it as a conjuring movie. It's good PR, because if the movie was terrible, it could have messed up the whole conjuring series. After it was successful though, Michael chaves took over directing for Anabelle Come Home, and Conjuring 3 the devil made me do it.
I loved this move ... don't think it's the strongest one out of the franchise though and I do know that it didn't do as well as expected when it first came out?! but it's fun to watch 🥰
TO answer Tara ... Yes sadly it does happen.. there's some Older & Recent cases.. There's some good pod casts on these cases also ...** Diane Downs, Susan Smith, Andrea Yates, China Arnold, Casey Anthony, Lori Vallow .. ( just a few Infamous killer Mom's)...a Few of these were done because their NEW lover did not want children and a few were due to Mental Illness.
Ok so here’s my story (or I guess grandmas story) about la llorona, I was born in Mexico in a very small town. The type of the town where everyone knows each other and lives very close by. My grandma(rip) lived in front of a soccer field that was known to be haunted in a way. During the day people would walk there and play in the field like nothing but at night people would say witches would do rituals there, and that evil spirits would go there. Now I don’t know if those stories are true, it’s just things a heard a lot when I was young. Anyway my grandma was a very religious person her whole life, like a person that would not lie because she truly believed that was a sin. She told my family the story of when she heard la llorona, she was home alone making tamales when suddenly she heard “ay mis hijos” which is what people would say la llorona says which translates to “oh my children(boys)”. She was so scared she ran out of her house because she didn’t know what to do. This happened a very long time ago, and maybe my grandma heard things because she was thinking about it or idk but to this day it scares me because I know she was not the type of person that would lie and make up a story like that. In my town there were a lot of stories about going to sleep after twelve because that’s when all the bad things would come out, they would say that at around 3 am you could hear the devil riding with his horses and dragging chains on the ground. I heard it once when I was home and couldn’t sleep (I have insomnia), I was pretty young like 12 or 13 so maybe it was my mind playing tricks, but I remember feeling so scared when I closed my eyes to try and sleep and suddenly heard horses and chains outside in the street. It sounded so loud that I actually paused for a second to see if what I was hearing was real, but the chains dragged around the street.
What up Shejects! Love your horror movie reactions. I’m close to this one due to hearing about La Llorona growing up (due to me being Mexican and all 😂). Also, love the Whirl Girls shout out to Dorina. DJ Bruja for the win!
@@moviebuff83No, they uploaded videos on Christmas. They did T2 instead, which was great seeing too. Anyway, it’s no big deal. I just missed seeing a conjuring reaction one week is all I meant. The world won’t end because of it.

La Llorona, the "Weeping Woman" is also called the "Woman in White" in the US. The very first episode of Supernatural was about this type of ghost.

I had the 'M-m-m-my Sharona' tune stuck in my head this whole video 😅 'L-L-L-LA Llorona'.
