Doom Guy is the best protagonist of any game, in my opinion.
He's got no irritating dialogue, doesn't fuck around, and has killed nearly every demon to crawl out of hell.
He knows what a Doom player wants. Exposition dump?

I was thinking the same thing. It is basically a slightly altered version of one of the early levels, but it seems slow and a bit stiff when you compare it to a modern pc running the final product at a full 60 or even 120+FPS

Doom Eternal really outdid 2016 but when I first played 2016 when it first came out I was blown away.
I’m really sad I wasn’t born in the time when DOOM first was a thing. I love DOOM Eternal and would love to play 2016, and hopefully I’ll play the original one day
One of the biggest issues with modern FPS games is that they seem to focus mostly on multiplayer, with the singleplayer mode often being very neglected. Doom, on the other hand, was always a singleplayer-based game, multiplayer being only a nice bonus rather than the main attraction, and I'd love to keep it that way. That being said, the singleplayer campaign better be good. I don't usually trust reboots of classic games that don't need them, but I do have a lot of faith in this game. I guess I'll have to see for myself.

I bought the the game recently, and indeed. the singleplayer campaign is the tits. I'm just kinda disappointed about the lack of mod support. Snapmap is pretty cool as a level editor, but it could never hope to be a substitute for proper mod support, especially since we all can see the amazing stuff people can accomplish with the old DOOM engine, with people developing WADs for DOOM 1 & 2 even today. I just hope Id and Bethesda realise the harm they're doing and release proper modding tools.

The story is pretty good, although it's almost nothing like Doom's original story (including the comics and lore). Also, there's a few plot-holes, but nothing gamebreaking. But let's be honest, playing Doom is not about the story - there's demons to slaughter!
I have Halo Reach, 3 and 4 and loved those campaigns. I have Call of duty MW3 and Black ops 2 and barely started there campaign. With Doom the campaign was the main event with multi player just being something to do afterwards.
Doom campaign was certainly the main event. Multiplayer is kinda neat, but it's not worth buying the game over. Singleplayer = great! Multiplayer= fun for like, a couple hours at most

I think the cinematic trailer was pretty good, aside from the weird cut around blowing the imp's head off at the beginning, but yah, I wasn't completely hooked until I played the demo they released, at which point I loved it so much I actually almost immediately bought the collector's edition.

Like most shooters, this is the sort of game for which you'll need a very particular kind of empathy. Show intellectual empathy towards the virtual demons, and you will anticipate their moves; show emotional empathy with them, and you will hesitate a fraction of a second too long.
I bought this game at Walmart. Never regretted it. Makes me want a Doom Mega Construx line.

"Doom is about going fast" almost immediately shows someone walking the slowest you can possibly go in the game. I love the game, but that was really bad timing.
i actually liked the alpha imp design, they were like mini hell knights (sure it wasnt the *Original* design but still it was cool)

When you see the first trailer ,you can see how most of the Game was already finished and the cyberdemon bossfight was changed to another scenery and the original one actually made It to the final game as a whole new level.
I freaking love this game the campaign is amazing the glory kills is an awesome way to execute your enemies the multiplayer is pretty good and fun to play and the snap map is very interesting and cool. this game is one of the best FPS games I played

Gee whiz do I love this game. It's been one of my top anticipated games of the year and it sure did deliver. Watching these trailers gets me pumped about playing it over again. I've started diving into all of the Doom games again. I'm having quite a lot of fun fully appreciating the Doom franchise (including Brutal Doom and yes, even Doom 3). :D

+lulubeloo Doom could well as be game of the year by the looks of it, 13-14 hour long campaign or longer depending on how you play and with fun multiplayer as well as Snapmap, look like a hell of a lot of fun to be honest.

Leon Donald No, I'm saying Doom has an incredibly brutal aspect to it's story and scenarios, that Fallout needs
nuclear apocalypse, world destroyed in an instant, survivors left with corrupt and cruel social experiments in the vaults, not even to mention the wasteland? yea fallout is pretty brutal i'd say.
we all have our opinions but in my case i believe doom is better not also because of the kick ass AI and campaign but also because snapmap is way better then fallout 4's base design
+Imperial Jenga well fallout still has those brutal aspects in the story. But they are found in more emotional scenarios. The whole lost father/son is a devastating topic in general.
