    I am currently enrolled in the Citizen Cafe Red Course. Ground level Hebrew. Ofir Ashery is our teacher. He is phenomenal and very encouraging. I started my first class on December 2, as of December 21, after 6 lessons, I am learning to spell and read Hebrew, and can speak and understand the words I have been taught. I have taken Spanish, Italian and ASL courses, none of it stuck. But Citizen Cafe has it locked down. Kudos.

    I find that the best way to learn a language is (1) speaking it, (2) reading it, (3) writing it. This is how I learned three languages (English, French, Spanish) in six months each, being fully immersed in each language.

    9 “I watched till thrones were put in place,
    And the Ancient of Days was seated;
    His garment was white as snow,
    And the hair of His head was like pure wool.
    His throne was a fiery flame,
    Its wheels a burning fire;
    10 A fiery stream issued
    And came forth from before Him.
    A thousand thousands ministered to Him;
    Ten thousand times ten thousand stood before Him.
    The court was seated,
    And the books were opened.
    11 “I watched then because of the sound of the pompous words which the horn was speaking; I watched till the beast was slain, and its body destroyed and given to the burning flame. 12 As for the rest of the beasts, they had their dominion taken away, yet their lives were prolonged for a season and a time.
    13 “I was watching in the night visions,
    And behold, One like the Son of Man,
    Coming with the clouds of heaven!
    He came to the Ancient of Days,
    And they brought Him near before Him.
    14 Then to Him was given dominion and glory and a kingdom,
    That all peoples, nations, and languages should serve Him.
    His dominion is an everlasting dominion,
    Which shall not pass away,
    And His kingdom the one
    Which shall not be destroyed. (Daniel 7:9-14)

    10 Jesus answered and said to him, “Are you the teacher of Israel, and do not know these things? 11 Most assuredly, I say to you, We speak what We know and testify what We have seen, and you do not receive Our witness. 12 If I have told you earthly things and you do not believe, how will you believe if I tell you heavenly things? 13 No one has ascended to heaven but He who came down from heaven, that is, the Son of Man who is in heaven. 14 And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of Man be lifted up, 15 that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life. 16 For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. 17 For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved.18 “He who believes in Him is not condemned; but he who does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God. (John 3:10-14)

    A person with a hearing deficit would have a difficult time with this approach. Such students require slower speech. Additionally, not all people learn best by speaking alone. Writing and reading add additional memory aids to grasping language. These thoughts aside, I’d be interested in knowing what this course costs, and how long it runs. But if the speakers are always talking at speed it wouldn’t suit someone like me.

      If you have a hearing deficit, no, this would not be for you. We all have different learning styles. Find the one best for you. If you really want to learn a second language? You'll do the work to find out how. There is a group for you out there! Best wishes to you

    This language is soon to become extinct like Aramaic

      Aramaic is still spoken today.
      My friend's family speak "Süryoyo" at home with the kids.
      - And no, Hebrew won't ever be extinct. Because the Old Testament is written in Hebrew.
