SF tip- you need to acess your IFAK with either hand. if right arm is injured can you reach it with the left arm ? something to consider. Great setup.
Swap you IFAK with your drop pouch.
Alice gear is making a strong return to glory
I decided to switch to Alice just a bit ago. It also gets your collector itch scratched... 😂
Tried and true Alice gear. Works damn well and super affordable.
@@joegeezer6375I wore it for many years:
Tip...leave the front of belt area open so you can lie prone....really flat.
Wear a small emphasis small...pack on your back for your snivel gear, food, extra water E-tool, extra mags in bandoleers on top of pack.
On the belt...ammo, water, tourniquet and bandage, comms, knife, compass -- just what you need to move shoot and communicate (think e&e)
YOU NEED MORE MAGAZINES on the belt!!!! Open up some real estate on the belt for at least one more pouch. (Checkout "SAW Gunner" pouches.)
Butt pack is for more ammo and a poncho...a poncho thick enough so you can read maps/come under a light at night, batteries, survival food.
Years ago there was a small Alice pack...smaller than normal with no frame. Any small tactical pack works. Tip: carry a dry bag like kayakers use like $15. Not only does it keep sensitive electronic dry....you can use it to hold water. That way you're not hanging out streamside filtering water. You scoop up a dry bag of water from the stream like a bucket and filter it in a more secure area. They come in handy and don't weigh anything or take up much space.
Hey...comfort tip: Sleep in a hammock. Besides a sleep system that's off the ground away from tics, in an emergency it becomes a litter. I've treated a heat stroke soldier by placing him in the hammock, pouring a canteen of wat
@@joegeezer6375it depends on your kit for a 556 yes the Alice system is super affordable but for the guys who run 308 FAL or M1A the m56 m15 double Alice pouches are 25 bucks each. Using the British PLCE system that 100 bucks just for the four pouches to carry the & mags.
@@Person0fColor molle works on an Alice Belt.
Absolutely nothing wrong with an ALICE setup. A lot of people set their kits up like direct action Tier 1 forces they see on the internet, not realizing that there's no UH60's ready to pick them up after 30 minutes on the X. Good video.
💯
Trained with Alice when I joined the Army. Swtiched to molle before I deployed to Iraq. Molle is great when using the bullet proof vest but the old school Alice lbv you can't go wrong with
That has been my experience as well
Used H-harness LBE when I was recon in Vicenza, late 80s early 90s. Two canteens on either side of butt back (poncho, poncho liner, wet weather gear and sustainment in butt pack), two ammo pouches far back enough so I could go prone, extra ammo pouch for admin (leatherman, notecards, batteries, light etc), and bayonet.
Compass was always around neck, as well as code book when I was RTO. First aid kit was usually in front of canteen. Not perfect, but it fit there.
E-tool was on ruck counter balanced by 2 quart canteen on other side.
Great channel BTW.
Love the set up! On the canteen...in this summer heat I highly recommend a second one. If you run out of water and have to purify more....the purification tabs arent instat....most people ive talked too say to let them sit for 30-45 mins. If youre on the verge of a heat stroke, you need water then. Just my be cents....Blackie Thomas did a great vid on "staying cool" here in the deep South.
On water it’s location location location. Right now it’s averaging 101 degrees so a second canteen and maybe a water bladder too and put a boonie hat stuffed on the rig and a large bandana to wet and put around your neck. Here in Texas in the summer heat stroke will kill you faster than anything else. But always adjust to where you are.
Great video, very practical. I ended removing my etool from my kit and slapped it onto my backpack, along with a 2nd bottle holder.
I also use Alice LBE us army issued in desert storm damn glad to see another light fighter with just plain combat issue gear
I absolutely love this video. Its a very realistic and practical approach to a minute man set up. Everything has a purpose with no frills taking up weight or space. Plus, I appreciate the use of Alice gear. With how I'm built I prefer belt set ups to a chest rig.
I laid an old school green war belt in a padded condor waist belt with the molle. I attached the Y harness to it and an old school canvass butt pad. The condor piece provides padding and allows for use of better mag pouches and sidearm holster.
Gucci is always cool, but as long as it is durable, well put together... Train with it enough to know it doesn't create hot spots, it is balanced enough to not cause issues, you should be good to go. Really appreciate you showing your setup.
ALICE gear rocks, it’s all I’ve ever used (with the exception of one complete set of British 58 pattern webbing and the Bergan pack and an FLC set I had given to me to try) good to see another dedicated user of a tried and true system!
Large Chest rigs are great for a range. For the field ALICE with very little on the front lets one get flat on the ground.👍👍
yuuup. Alice dont get enough love these days. its a shame really.
@@ModernFrontiersman Lack of experience is why.
Im sewing a mosquito head net to my boonie to atleast keep my head face and head comfortable, but the repel wipes work great, and that is something people need to be conscious of is not only mosquitoes but ticks, check yourselves before bed and in the morning if time allows.
I added a net and a sniper veil to my load out
Very good demonstration. You’ve gotten me to consider that sort of setup. I have suspenders and belts but no Alice pouches or clips. I’ve thought about using molle stuff. I’ve seen a few videos showing ways to use molle stuff on that type of rig.
Still easy enough to find for cheap and really consistent.
Can’t go too far wrong with Alice deuce gear. Good setup. Thanks.
@Modern Frontiersman, In the Army National Guard the only time I carried a pistol was when I was an Armor Crewman and even then as a Driver and later a Loader I carried an M-3A1 SMG along with the M-1911A1 I was issued. Now as a Cannon Crewman and as a Metal Crafter I only carried either an M-16A1 (1980 to 1986) or an M-16A2 (7-1998 to 1-2002,) but when I carried the A2 I also was assigned as my squad's Machine Gunner/ Automatic Rifleman. In that time in the field my unit had me carry the rifle, the MG or SAW (we replaced our M-60s at Squad level in 1999 with the M-249A1 SAW,) and the spare barrel bag because my AG was also the Company Maintenance Clerk and was always in the Tool Truck in the Field.
First thing that I noticed was the "razor" sharp edges left on the zipties , buff them down smooth or just tape around them. Less cuts is better no matter what the stress level is. Be safe !!! RAH! G.S.
Could always line your poncho pouch with a small 10-20 gallon black garbage bag. Use that for camping and backpacking and it keeps water out for cheap. Very cool setup you have there.
Looks good if it works for you set up that way then do it. The only thing i would suggest is to paint that allen wrench a bright color in case you drop it in the woods.
Hey Brother. Good to see someone else using ALICE gear. Always look forward to hearing what you have to say.
Thanks for this awesome content. Dot civ only. Used an alice loadout back in mid-80's and bumped it up to a gucci USMC milsurp LBV loadout in woodland in 2010. Switched to Fobbit LARPing (BOL) using the LBV (headlamp in grenade pouch) and multiple pouches for other firearms support in 2017, when we bought the deer camp. LBV kept there. Use ACU molle GI 6 mag bandoliers to support gun travel cases.
Awesome belt kit seems extremely versatile! Stay vigilant friend 🤙
The Rhodesian scouts wore very light equipment, except for the FN FAL rifle and were successful in the field. Personally I have the belt setup fairly similar to your rig, except I have double water bottles(necessary in a warm climate).
Alice hear is the most underrated military gear. And side note we haven't won a war since the military quit embracing it.
That's what I'm saying
MAGA: Make ALICE Great Again!
I really like your set up. it is good to go Marine. Especially with all that spaghetti taped down. I use the same rig set up plus a small light weight Patrol pack that others call the Assault Pack. To me they are day or patrol bags, but that's just me. However, you may want to look into the low-profile plate carriers. I think they are meant to be worn under your fatigue shirt, because there are no pouches on it for mags and such, and where I wear mine. They are made by a numerous bunch of makers. That is what I use, its hidden and it is out of the way not to mention I still have mobility and other torso movements & functions when wearing it. I got mine for around I think $25.00 bucks. It is made by Condor or FOX not sure which at the moment, I had it for a couple of years. It is like those MOLLE Plate Carrier vests, but thinner lighter and no pouches which lend me to think it is for under one's fatigue shirt.
Another great video brotherman. " Semper Fi!" Just another old 0311. 1st Btl. 3rd Marines.
I still have my alice gear but I've updated to molle gear kinda pricey for a old man but I like it
so glad I found this channel!!! loving it so far!!!
Great vid. I loved the whistle. Important low tech comms. Simple/reliable is important as a backup.
Sick load out I am trying to build a set up like this myself ..
I have one of those vests (forget what they are called) that were supposed to replace the ALICE rig. It's got the 4 mag pouches ( one pouch holds two and one holds 1 on each side of the vest) built into it and two grenade pouches. Its missing the waist belt and I was thinking about getting the butt pack, an ifak and a couple canteens to attach to it. I want something minuteman style, grab it and go within a minute or two. I also have a plate carrier but I hate the weight. Sometimes you just need to be lightweight and fast. In the butt pack once I get it I'll throw a woobie and find a bivvy bag, one or two mres, Sawyer water filter, matches, and a couple spare mags.
I like your idea for the notebook as well so I'll get one and throw it in there and find a poncho.
The vest was the LBV-88, I have one to and love it for cool weather the built in mag pouches make it a good Bushcraft rig too
Your set of gear is a great idea! 👍
I made mine like this also from ALPS hunting pack. I made it for only when im going out hunting, patrol, on watch, and going all day long till dark or sometime. Pretty cool hobby. lol anyway hope your doing good out there brother stay safe
Personally I’d ditch the E tool for another canteen-preferably something with a wider mouth but that’s a good setup.
Stainless steel with a stainless steel canteen cup for field cooking.
I took a LC-1/ LC-2 30 Round Magazine Pouch and made it into an IFAK like a video on Brent0331 about ALICE gear at One Shepard.
Oh Modern Frontiersman I am former Army National Guard Artillery and Armor. You being infantry what can you advise me to setup my ALICE gear. I don't have straight LC-1 and LC-2 ALICE gear. I have a mix of M-55, M-61, LC-1 and LC-2 ALICE Gear. My butt pack is an M-61 Field Pack. I supposed that I can set that up similar to the near butt packs.
@d.l.hemmingway3758 A ten year old video by silentthunder85 detailed setting up and using ALICE gear as per U.S. Army specs according to his airborne unit.
Thank you for sharing this set up with us. Happy Father's day! Stay blessed!
This is why people run backpacks that carry 1 plate maybe a mag or two and the weapon can be stowed in the backpack.
Hi just wanted to tell you how much I liked your video. I have a similar set-up with a belt and a belly bag, then I have a green sort of military style 3 day pack I will wear away from my base(or base camp).
I call mine "Survival Belt" for me even though I have military and security background. I will mainly survive. Hunt and defend when necessary. I will try not to have to get into fire fights.
Only when absolutely necessary. Love your video and will subscribe 😊
sweet :) thanks so much
I'm still rockin' an original pattern LC-2 ALICE setup with an M-7 bayonet for my AR in an M-8a1 scabbard, Y-suspenders, and a medium ALICE pack.
I have since changed out my Y suspenders for canvas M1956 H suspenders and an M1961 butt pack. I also rock a rip-away IFAK on the LEFT side of the butt pack. I also ordered a Blackhawk OD green belt pad, so my ALICE clips don't dig into my waist. It all rides comfortably.
Interesting coming back to this after watching it 9 months ago. Do you still have it set up this way? Is this still your go-to rig?
Thanks for the info
Keep my pens in my battle board. Big fat clip board I used to store maps and whiz wheels during my time as an FO. semper fi
Somethin to be said for that. I made my own map board (Tanker) that fits in my assault pack and I keep my pens in my rite in the rain notebook sleeve. It’s a little pricey, but IMO it’s worth having- small enough to fit in a cargo pocket, and surprisingly useful.
Good set up Brother 👍🏻🇦🇺
Good stuff. A good GP setup can serve most purposes.
I've used Alice for years, recently switched to the lbv-88e. Still use Alice packs and basically all my gear is 1970's-early 2000's.
Honestly...my entire kit is identical to what you see the soldiers using in clear and present danger.
I just do a pack with gear and a light chest rig inside, can ditch the bag if i gotta be sneaky, and once the chest rig is out plenty of room for loot items haha
These loot drops are gonna be fucking killer when this shit pops off.
Don’t discount a whistle. They have been used for many years as signals and carry much further than your voice.
A great explanation of your process to respond to bump in the night that can last 72 hours. I understand how gear can be added depending on needs for plan.
I Saw on Bear Independent channel the mylar blanket was in IFAX to keep wounded body temperature stable.
Also on Grunt Proof channel he indicated that a mylar blanket was good to use with poncho and liner for added warmth during cold snap.
I would think one would carry a dump pouch instead of trenching tool because mags are not government supplied.
The scenario dictates the gear. Definition of militia and tasks that they would handle. Would make a few videos.
Again great video keep up the good work.
Me personally I use a combination of Alice gear and other stuff like plate carriers and a couple other things
Just found this video, great setup. Based as hell
1. Ammo
2. Water
3. Medical
4. Navigation
5. Picture of Shakira
" I never carried a pistol in combat", "WHOA"! - That slays me. So true and I bet that shocked some people. Some people watch too much movies. You probably lost a mall ninja wannabe tacticool as a sub. Good. F-'em we dont need posers that need to "kit up" like batman to just take charge of a position or hold the line when its go time. Right on man.
A pistol with holster and mags equals the weight of 3 30 round 5.56 mags so you give away a lot of firepower out in the field by carrying a pistol
Id add some 550 cord, move the light to right front of the lbv. To free up space in the buttpack.
That is the best setup lightweight and you will not overheat...wearing a plate carrier and helmet is only useful in a fixed position
roll your woobie and attach to the bottom of the butt pack, cretes more packing space in the buttpack...and/or wrap poncho around the woobie...they pack down quite nicely....how my LBE is set and works well
You should get a sawyer filtered water bottle you can pick one up one of their cheap but good bottles at Walmart for under $30 that comes with their filters that will last over a year and is very good.
Great video very informative and thanks for sharing!
Can't be mad at your dog man. He just want to know what you are doing at his house
should build a ghillie hood or otherwise up the concealment. Awesome setup
Lucky strikes
While I dig the old school LBE kit, there are better modern options, that are just as economical. I humped LBE for 15+ years, and it was never comfortable.
Spare socks?
Everyone marches on their feet but fights on their stomach.
You need some powdered cool aid to kill the taste of the purifying tabs..
Water close by is great but I can’t do humidity lol. That shit is horrible.
I've always heard the best way to set up an IFAK is with motrin, water, and a fresh pair of socks.
I may have not got to it yet in the video but curious why you have the regular hand guard and not a drop in quad rail
You may want to consider turning your magazines rounds side up so you can easily identify the empty ones from the full ones. Simper Fi. Im running my old LBV as a setup base.
i put empties in my cargo pocket
Brass to the grass, nose to the toes, I heard one Sargeant say.
Great video. Where did you get the H suspenders?
Great video! Ever consider dummy cording ur ifak to ur kit? Just in case you need to be carried, it comes with. Just a thought.
RIP Risky 🇺🇸
Gone too soon.
Gone too soon
Take it out for an 8-12 mile walk. Easiest solution would be a 20L bag. Slim down the web gear and hook it to the pack that way it's together when you grab it.
Real minuteman shit, practical gear.
How you plan to hold your grenades?
There are no grenades in Minecraft. ;)
I love a good butt pack. I use a british army style web system with a GSR haversack as a butt pack
The guns I plan to have (must be CA compliant with at least 1 rifle and 2 pistols with me whenever I travel)...
1. A 9mm pistol, which will be my first gun. Most likely a Springfield XD 9 (4 inch or sub-compact), Glock 19, or a CZ 75 P-01. Needs to at least have a gun light.
2. An AR-15 that can shoot 5.56 and .223. I want to make sure that this one has a red dot and light at least but CA regulations make that tricky.
3. A long ranged rifle that can shoot .308 (such as an AR-10, Springfield M1A, or bolt action). I want to make sure that this one has a red dot and light at least but CA regulations make that tricky.
4. A small pistol as a back up/hide out gun. Either the sub-compact versions of my main handgun, a Bersa Firestorm, Sig Sauer P232, Wather P22, a snub nose revolver that shoots 9mm or 38 special, or a Beretta Tomcat. (I need to know which one is most comfortable to me, easiest to carry, and most accurate with first before deciding. I've already ruled out the the Sig Sauer P238 for now since I was not accurate with that thing due to the stiff trigger, making me lose my aim when I pressed the trigger.)
5. A 1911 or Springfield XD in .45 ACP. I know I'm good with the 1911 since I used my dad's 1911 but I have not tried the Springfield XD in .45 ACP yet.
In CA as it goes now you can get a full function AR and have all the evil features. You just need to have something called a “compmag” it still limits to 10 rounds and it inserts and “locks” in the mag well, the catch is though that when you need to go shooting out of state there’s a little pin tool you poke down into it and it releases and now you have a full functional AR like the free states do, for when your shooting out of state, of course.
That’s what I rock in my two ARs
@@dothedewinme Yes I know about that compmag and I’ve dry fired it (an AR-10) once in a gun store with the help of an employee. It’s not that hard but can be time consuming. I think I’d rather go featureless though as long as I can have a light and a scope/optic. I’ll see especially considering that one that is not featureless can be altered to its full potential in another state. 😆😁
@@nastymkfan yeah if you’re doing 308 there’s some options like a Springfield m1A where you’ll be fine without it, but since I was going for 556 and I wanted a functional rifle that’s what I went with because basically one push of a button and a mag drop later I have a full functional rifle ready to rock and roll, the whole process takes me about 30 seconds or so to switch out so to me personally, that’s a sacrifice I’m willing to make for being able to have all my “evil feature” best of luck to you brother!
@@dothedewinme Honestly the only rifle I want right now is a Primary Weapons UXR, hoping it’ll become compliant in CA some time in my life. 😆 😉
@@nastymkfan that’s a pretty sweet option right there ngl

not enough room on the belt? wwbmd- ( what would bat man do )
Anyone have experience with the U.S. FLC set? I've only used the old ALICE stuff.
Why no folding saw?
if im out with this gear, im unlikely to be sawing anything.
Instead of a cable saw, what about a sak woodsman or huntsman?
I have a very similar setup .. one thing .. and i may have missed it .. but any 550 cord ??
in my cargo pocket
This is such a great way to carry gear, rather than cluttering your stomach and chest up. It's a bitch laying down on your stomach with a decked out plate carrier, you can't ever get low enough I seems.
That's fine, we'll hold the west for you. I'd rather play survivalist in the desert than gunfighter in the jungle, personally.
E tool on the belt is a rookie mis5ake. Does the but pack work with the ruck?
yes
@@ModernFrontiersman my butpack was to big. I need one that with a low top.

not for this context.
