Know Your SHTF Job: Crucial Roles for Preppers to Master Now!
When it comes to being self-sufficient, one of the biggest challenges preppers face is trying to be a jack-of-all-trades. We often try to learn a little bit about everything, but that approach can be overwhelming and ultimately, we end up not being very good at anything. The truth is, it's impossible to be an expert in everything, and that's where specializing comes in. By focusing on certain key skills, we can become proficient in those areas and be better prepared for when disaster strikes

There’s much knowledge in this video, it all depends on if you absorb it and apply it. Being a jack of all trades in my opinion is an asset to a group. Personally living in a small ranch and being in the medical field along with training with most kinds of rifles and handguns hopefully would make me an asset to any group. It just hard finding people with likeminded goals.

My wife ran two small food service locations as GM for a local company. When hiring people she asked if they could cook. About one third of them said they couldn't cook. About half of those that said yes could only "cook" with a microwave and a toaster. Cooking is such a basic skill, but many people don't have even that skill.

God bless someone came out & said this . Here in Missouri I have been preaching that . I also have reminded people. Maybe you have a skill you don't realize. Example , I can teach anyone how to run & operate a ham radio . Take messages from Coast to Coast . Gather Intel on ham radio . You could be in a wheel chair or just don't move as fast as you use to . Maybe you can drive my pickup 3 miles down the road drop off hay & bring back supplies ( just drive the boys will load & unload ) . I have many skills myself. This would free me up to handle other things . Maybe I need a person to watch from a high place for trespassers. Maybe I need your knowledge. If you , people reading this are near K.C. your welcome to reach out to me . God Bless Roger

Don't listen to fools, people will always try to belittle others because they are about nothing going nowhere accomplishing absolutely nothing of worth. Everyone has a place and not everyone is cut out to be a navy seal or fly airplanes. You clearly have common sense which is a super power these days.

Thoughts. I can do the pew pew stuff but that wouldn't be where I could best serve. I'm going to write down a list of my skills I've been blessed to learn over my years on earth and I believe I've done this on another video you put up. Electrician, farm, gardener, plumbing, carpentry, herbology, machining, survival instructor, mechanic, programming, comms, and a former medic. Like I said I can do the pew pew and have no issues with training others how to, I know I'm best served in other areas, mainly as an instructor of all things. Now how did I gain so much knowledge in so many different areas? It's very simple, I prayed daily for knowledge and wisdom, it is something freely given to ALL if asked. It was soon after that I stopped watching the television and my desire for knowledge exploded! It does help that I'm severely introverted so solitude is welcomed as with a good book. Here's my tips, pray for knowledge and wisdom, no television, read every book you can on every subject and do those things. Audiobooks help too when you are busy and don't have much time. Here's an example most don't consider but maybe it will explain the do it part. So I'm a farmer now and retired from the rat race and I also hunt on our farm as free freezer meat is a blessing. Get some books on medical and surgical procedures and education. If a animal dies or you harvest one then take the time to be the corpsman in the field to find and fix the injury. Practice surgical procedures, learn to sew a artery, vein, organs back together and so forth then how to close a wound. I will be honest, the liver is difficult one to sew up, found out a few months back doing an autopsy on a critter that had been trampled. You will gain more experience with GSW's then your new surgeons could ever dream of. Yes I know this sounds extremely odd but it was what I needed to go further than my formal training as a medic. FYI those corpsman in the military are invaluable, if you have some in your group then protect them at all cost, they don't fight and they don't get to run out into a gunfight to recover someone, nail their feet down, they are needed. I said corpsman and not medic for a reason, their formal training far exceeded mine. Or You want to learn carpentry, go volunteer for habitat for humanity, they always need people who wish to learn. Basically any skill you wish to own can be had with a book and volunteering. Get into industrial maintenance as well. Remember pray for knowledge and wisdom.

Learn how to sew. It’s not just girl thing. Learn to garden. Learn some herbalism. If you can shoot do it and do it well. Read your bible. God bless.

Sad that someone chose to insult you like that. His narrow-mindedness makes him a poor teammate. I'm a retired engineer, I don't pass his sniff test, but I wouldn't want him close enough to smell me. I appreciate the discussion on skills. I define skills as knowledge plus tools plus supplies all multiplied by practice. I feel there is not enough discussion of skills other than bushcraft in the prepping community. In a long term crisis there will be the need for many other skills. I'm reminded of WWII when there was rationing or the Great Depression that my parents and grandparents lived through. I want to encourage all you readers, practice your skills. Saying you have seeds does not make you a gardener. Having a rifle does not make you a rifleman. I'm a retired engineer, former waste water treatment tech and former boy scout. I have skills in the garden, have fruit trees, berry bushes and a grape vine. I reload, fish, have tied flies, maintained bicycles, rebuilt carburetors, done some carpentry, painting, wallboard, and plumbing, project planning and engineering skills reloading. I walk my dog over 95% of days averaging about 2.7 miles while wearing a 20-27 pound load out. My wife is a former EMT, chef, and officer in the South Carolina State Militia. She brings the skills of advanced first aid, cooking, baking, sewing, soap making, canning, fermenting, and other food storage, gardening. We both fish and shoot. My wife is a better shot than me. I've regularly seen her shoot a golf ball at up to 30 yards with a compact 9mm. I'm very happily married. While we are older and slower than we used to be we both can put in a day's work. We regularly contribute to our community, sharing our gardening skills, supplies and tools, encouraging basic preparation without talking about SHTF or end of the world. We discuss things like shortages, strikes, storms and such. When I've bought fruit tree saplings in bulk I did not plant them all in my yard, but gave half to friends and neighbors. My banker, when I cashed in a CD this past year asked what I was going to do with the money was surprised when I said gold and silver. When asked why I reminded him of the time he couldn't give people rolls of quarters and dimes. Later he did ask me where I bought my gold. The sun is up, I've got to get dressed warm to take the dog for a walk. I'm thinking we go up the hill and back for a 4 miler today. Then the fall till in the garden. And if I have time after that, turn and water the compost pile. Pray for peace and prosperity, but work like the life of your family depends on it.

Well said bro, there is a NEED for all walks and types of trades and skills-- and most groups will be fairly small at least for a time in various situations, so that means even more people will need to be handling multiple types of work. Even the shooters and combat arms types are gonna have to do manual/ construction labor and such, maybe work the supply/ logistics train for getting water, whatever it is.
