Happy to see this video being well-received. Actually didn't think it would get this much interest. I really just did a comparison video for the sake of comparison. No intention to really drag down MegaMix in any way. When compared to the other games, the lighting in MegaMix is certainly lacking. However, I still think MegaMix is completely fine. Side by side with others, negatives can be seen. Sill, the game on its own has been enjoyable for me.
Honestly, I like the way MegaMix looks. I always preferred the less... doll like... look of PD F, personally. While MegaMix goes a bit far to the other extreme, in some cases it really works. Heavily shadowed settings, like ODDS & ENDS don't mix well with it at all, not going to even pretend, but other, brighter environments really mesh so good. Eh, Ah, Sou? is one where the shading really popped out with the rest of the environment. Sekiranun Graffiti is another. It just really depends on the setting itself whether the shading looks weird or not. Fun fact though, the models are really just reshaded versions of the Future Tone models! Now I'm going back to playing. They just released packs 4 and 5 yesterday!
Rip the lighting and shadows on Miku for Mega mix, she just looks so bright and out of place in the darker environments in this song due to the change to a more anime artstyle and hardware limitations. I'm still getting the mega mix tho as I feel the portability just barely balances out the negatives.
i wouldn't say its hardware limitations considering the 3rd panel Project Diva F is also a Vita title and can be seen close to the shown one (that is the ps4 edition) this might be a case of just artistic design where they wanted Miku to always be bright as if she herself is a beacon of light
@@kyestar88 i wouldnt say lazy tbh since this game is just an experiment so they put less effort onto it. If its successful they'll release a new one on switch if it flopped at least they didnt spend alot of money on it. In my opinion I like bright miku. She is just too cute

I feel like they should've given the cel shading to the environments in Mega39's. As others have said, Miku look out of place as if the lighting the environment doesn't match her. Still a fun game tho. The important part is how fun the songs are to play.
FT: either too dark or too bright, 3d model looks kinda plastic-ey, excess of shade MM: looks like a cartoon in a photorealistic environment, which doesnt look *horrible*, too little shade F: just the right amount of shade, blends perfectly, 10/10
Other than the limitations the Megamix might have in Switch, I feel like the lighting and shading on the models... works and doesn’t work at the same time (all depending on whatever scene is playing out of course!). It does look more anime-ish which makes me nostalgic from the days I’ve played the PSP entry but I do feel like the lack of shading (in some scenes) makes them pop out more where it makes sense like in 1:01 considering where the light source is and how Miku is casting the shadow in Megamix compared to Future Tone. It works in its own way but seeing them side by side really has you seeing the major differences.
Okay in Megamix, it's like she has a constant spotlight on her XD She kinda sticks out a bit more in her environment, and at times not in a good way. Makes me wish they got an entirely new playlist for megamix. I know a lot want some returning songs, but with the new toon-like shading, I think new environments would have been a better choice to use than just directly porting it. They got away with it between F and FT because of the lighting and textures, so it saved them time. I really like the new shading for Megamix but... to see it like this, it feels like they were just cutting corners. And that's a feeling I do not like since I LOVE Project diva!

I'm probably getting it anyways cause I hate my wallet and having money, but honestly, the draw to 39s/MegaMix just isn't there. It would be one thing if it was almost just a worse graphical port of Future Tone, but it is just a not good idea overall unless you're really hell-bent on getting those new songs.

I appreciate that they went for cell shaded instead of the uncanny doll-like hyperrealism Future Tone had going, but holy cow how lacking can that shader be that it can't even deal with backlighting and dim settings? The oldest one shouldn't be the best looking one.
Megamix model looks too bright and out of place in this specific song. In all others i've see, 100% prefer the megamix art style to the "realistic" future tone ( looks great at some shots, but too plastic-y and "doll"-looking otherwise)
Project Diva F models with FT hair and clothes physics= best miku. Honestly if they had done that instead it would look a lot better. I know the only reason they did the shader is so people didnt feel ripped off for buying the same exact game...but i dont think this looks that good tbh.
Megamix is actually good, people said that "FT Graphics are better! " Or "It's not realistic!" Wait a minute... So these people are actually focused on Miku or they're focused on the game? When we play the game what we focus on is the gameplay actually. And both gameplays are the same tho, just the graphic thing. This is my opinion k e
I don’t like future tone for how realistic it is. F is is probably the best looking one out of all of them because mega mix is too bright. That’s my only problem. I really wish they would bring back the old model for miku that’s in project diva f because it just looks so much better.
I think the og and future tone have better detail, but megamix makes Miku way more visible. Especially with such a dark background, it's important to make sure she's contrasting the background. Sometimes looks weird, but I understand the choice.
I think F and F2nd did these looks the best. They're perfectly balanced between the toony style and realistic style. It's not too flat, but still not as dramatically "realistic".
Am I the only one who loves the future tone ver? I feel like the shading and atmosphere is extremely well done on that version Even if the hair physics are wack
Am I the only one who noticed the extraction of light from Miku's eyes in DIVA F at 2:57? They only seem to do this kinda stuff in the F series and maybe in X and I wish they could do that again in the games after! (No, the extraction of light from the characters' eyes when they look in a reflection doesn't count.)
I’m not sure why they make miku so bright in mega mix when they can just shade like they did in ft like in sadists music factory the shading and lighting is so good with ft but on mega mix they didn’t do that at all.
I play megamix and it is a very good game, but I do agree that they should work on the lighting. I think one of the reasons they use toon shader is for less space since the switch only has 30 gigs but I'm not sure

I would always say I wanted to see one of these that show the song from EVERY SINGLE GAME (even the Mirai series) but then I realized the song that's been in the most games is I think Ievon Polkka. it was in the first game as a song. I don't know if it was in project diva 2nd or project diva extend. I don't know if it was in the arcade version of the first project diva game, but it probably does since it's an arcade version of the first game which had Ievon Polkka. And it was in project diva F as a tutorial. It was in project diva F 2nd as a tutorial I think. It was in Project diva X as a tutorial I think. and it was probably in Project diva f the PS Vita version of Project Diva F and. Since it was projected diva F 2nd then I think the PS Vita version of Project Diva F 2nd also had it. And it might have been in project diva dreamy theater since it's a PS3 version of the first game which had it. I don't think it's in project diva dreamy theater 2nd or project diva dreamy theater extend because it's the PS3 version of project diva 2nd and project diva extend which I don't think had it. and project diva arcade future tone had it and so did the ps4 port of project diva future tone. I think project diva future tone and arcade future tone had Ievon Polkka as a tutorial and a playable song. and megamix Im pretty sure has it too. I don't think any of the Mirai series had it though
The lighting sucks in Mega 39s, but I think it’s my second favorite after F. I love the FT graphics but I feel like the cartoonish charm of Mega 39s and F/X series keep the charm of Vocaloids-real voices, but just characters.
Mega mix should’ve at least had project F shading. It would also be nice if the texture of her costumes would be visible like in Future tone. I also sorta like project f Miku model a lil bit more than the rest. She looks a little bit more anime-ish and it’s just nostalgic that way.
I love how these games are different in a way since that's the point in making another game XD honestly, everyone have a different way to have fun and enjoy these games, so there is one for everyone. Every pv has a way to be able to perceive things and enjoy it's quality.
Ik my opinion is probably unpopular but I like the fact that in megamix miku is bright it makes her stand out and i think the one in future tone is a tiny bit too dark :/ meh idkr
Bottom left is best for wide shots duiie to the colouring. But top left, close up are really realistic and I really like it. Top right the colours are just too blown out.
I wish they would've toon-shaded the stages as well, breathe new life into some of the older PVs. FT models will always be my favorite from a technical standpoint, but I do like Mega39's too, it's like a nice in-between, not too uncanny and realistic as FT but not as floaty and plastic-y as the F models.
The models between FT and Mega39's appear to be the exact same. If you look at them closely, specially when the camera is close-up to them, there doesn't seem to be a difference in the polygon count between the two versions. The M39's model does not seem like it's more jaggedy or less rounded than the FT model. Of course, this is what I see glancing at them, and there is the possibility that the models are changed after all, but I'm unable to see it if that's the case. As for the lighting/shading, in this PV, I like F's lighting and shading a bit more. M39's is definitely pretty saturated at times, not as dark as maybe it should be, and it can look off sometimes, but I do think it works most of the time. I don't like FT's look personally. I think that things like skin and hair are what look like plastic to me in those versions. The shadows on those parts to me don't look dark enough sometimes and it makes them look a bit flat. I feel the same when it comes to the DreamyTheater versions on PS3. I think it's all a matter of what song it is what determines if the Cel shading works or not. In this one, I don't think it does, but in something like Catch the Wave, it really works for me. Still, the whole game having it, I don't see it as a problem. It does make the game stand out a bit from the rest, and it at least kind of hides the fact that it's just a port of FT if you're not aware of it.
@@Hachi_Shibaru You have to remember that this PV was made specifically for Project Diva F, of course the F model's gonna look the best. Just look at PVs made specifically for Mega39 like Catch The Wave, it's not technically impressive but it looks great, and there's cohesion because it was made with the Mega39 specifications from the ground up. Also when I said Mega39's models weren't as uncanny as FT I mean that the toon shader helps hide some of the more realistic/uncanny aspects of FT.
@@kyestar88 No, all the baked-in shading and airbrush real-time shadows in the F models makes them look like cheap plastic figures, the stiff, floaty pigtails don't help either. If you like it that's fine, a lot of people do,
@@kyestar88 No, the flat colors make it look like a 3D anime. I agree that the lighting in mega39's is bad in this PV, but mega39's models look much better in newer PVs and the ones made specifically for mega39's.
Ya'll like rip lighting but you seem to forget that the Switch is a portable console. Miku NEEDS to be brighter on that so you can see her in outdoor elements such as the sun and stuff. I truely don't mind seeing her brighter in that sense.

megamix be like: none of our characters have noses
Never realised how Miku looked so different in each game. Probs cause I was too busy mashing buttons than paying attention to the video.
i like the F one the most its a good combo of megamix and future tone
the hair texture/shading for F is so… eh… compared to FT. Her bangs and eyes look way better in FT.
I like future tone's look but I cant afford that device.....I feel bad I wasted money on mega mix
Why tf did they change the shading on switch so much. Ps3 looks way better. Even better than ps4 imo. The ps4 shading is just uncanny valley
they used the toon shader in mega39’s to hide the edits they had to do to the modules to increase performance.
Miku literally looks like she is glowing in Mega Mix.. I know it’s toon shader but this song NEEDS atleast some shading to look good
The lighting sucks in Mega 39s, but I think it’s my second favorite after F. I love the FT graphics but I feel like the cartoonish charm of Mega 39s and F/X series keep the charm of Vocaloids-real voices, but just characters.
Fが好きすぎる
In my opinion F is the best
Mega Mix is too bright
Future Tone is too dark
F is just right
Future tone : amazing shadows and hair
MegaMix 39 : no shadows, Just glowy hair
F2nd : classic on 2 place for me
Mega mix should’ve at least had project F shading. It would also be nice if the texture of her costumes would be visible like in Future tone. I also sorta like project f Miku model a lil bit more than the rest. She looks a little bit more anime-ish and it’s just nostalgic that way.
Mega 39 is the best
She’s glowing in megamix
1:02 hair wriggles
Look, I hate how MegaMix looks too, but theres a thing you cant really be angry at.
MegaMix has the best hair physics of all the Diva games.
I love how these games are different in a way since that's the point in making another game XD honestly, everyone have a different way to have fun and enjoy these games, so there is one for everyone. Every pv has a way to be able to perceive things and enjoy it's quality.
逆光無いと違和感
Make a comparison video on a brighter song. Even the Future Toen one look weird with this dark shading. 1:32 ultra dark plastic doll face for example.
Ft looks doll-like, megamix looks cartoony, and F looks like your standard mmd
レシート39000、アケコン買ったなこりゃ
Ik my opinion is probably unpopular but I like the fact that in megamix miku is bright it makes her stand out and i think the one in future tone is a tiny bit too dark :/ meh idkr
F:Cell shaded
Future tone:Soft Shaded
Mega mix:UNSHADED
Miku so Bright I can see my Future. Dude what the heck did they dooooo
F has better facial expressions
Bottom left is best for wide shots duiie to the colouring. But top left, close up are really realistic and I really like it. Top right the colours are just too blown out.
You vs the twin sisters he tells you not to worry about
Maybe Miku is brighter because is easier to see in Portable mode?
Fの表情がダントツにいい
I agree that the lighting in mega39's is bad in this PV, but mega39's models look much better in newer PVs and the ones made specifically for mega39's.
kyestar88 ok furry
Mega mix poor toon shader, FT toon shader MVs like suki kirai have more contrast (better) but still a basic toon shader
(Future Tone + Mega39's) / 2 = F
F has the best shading,
FT has the best graphics
Megamix is just having fun
I like the project diva f models best.
Lmao miku is so bright in 39s, ft is def better than 39s but F is by far the best imo
future tone look realistic coloring here,
I’ve gotten so used to seeing nose-less Miku at this point
Ya'll like rip lighting but you seem to forget that the Switch is a portable console. Miku NEEDS to be brighter on that so you can see her in outdoor elements such as the sun and stuff. I truely don't mind seeing her brighter in that sense.
