I think they dont want the model to be affected by the environment too much or not at all. Probably to give the anime look without the realism of environment bouncing light to the model
sometimes it's fine but sometimes it's REALLY not and wayyyyy too overexposed and it really takes away from what would otherwise be a great-looking pv :(
@@eve-chanbushido6953 exactly - in common world domination i think mega39s' shaders work great since it's such a vivid pv but in songs like meltdown where the environment is darker and has more nuanced light sources the shaders just end up looking lazy or poor. it's really disappointing :(
I like playing project mirai. I played project diva on playstation 4 at my friends house and I can't wait for project diva mega mix to come out on the Nintendo switch.
Seeing this made me finally realize what makes me so uncomfortable with MegaMix's shading choices, and it's not the fact that it's cell-shading on the models. It's the fact that it's poorly-done cell-shading, and is ONLY applied to the character models. NOTHING ELSE is stylized to match the cell-shading choice, and the cell-shading uses damn-near-white for highlights, and can't handle things with a white base color--So it all looks washed-out, and the stuff that's pure white to begin with practically GLOWS in most lighting.
I think the fact that Miku's glowing isn't that much of a problem this time, since it fits with the surreal atmosphere of the pv. I still prefer Future Tone, though
Yea , i actually dont mind the shader. I think it just gives more of a plastic robot/ virual thingy? Which is what vocaloids are , so i actually dong mind it lmao

Interesting fact: The original MV was actually featured in Project Mirai 2 (that one Japan-only iteration of Project Mirai that was released before DX), and it was even compatible with the 3D functionality of the 3DS. That was before Sega replaced it with a Nendoroid-style real-time rendered animation for Project Mirai DX, and then adapted to Project DIVA Arcade Future Tone, which allowed the song to be featured in both Future Tone and Mega Mix, and that's pretty much where we are now with this song
