Maybe when they respawn, since they dropped their weapons upon death, they would only punch with their fists and have a smaller health pool because they're reanimated. You could balance it somehow.
Fuck, an old fashioned Greek statue of zeus getting ripped to bits while he shoots lighting at the hordes of dozens upon dozens of clams all swarming over him would be genuinely amazing.
