- Fluminense have been in the spotlight as of late after winning their first ever Copa Libertadores, much due to their manager Fernando Diniz and his incredible tactics. In this video I take a closer look at Fluminense as a club, what they stand for and how they ended up winning the Copa Libertadores.

Great video But Romario did not begin in Fluminense, he started in Vasco. But there was so many more players like Branco, Didi, Telê Santana, Félix, just to name a few. All won world cup championships to Brazil squad.
You got a taste of Brazilian football, I recommend you looking at the history of Fortaleza. The team was in the third Brazilian division for a decade, always failing to get promoted. When they finally got promoted, they won the second division and made the Copa Sudamericana final (Europa League equivalent in South America).

É importante destacar que o Fluminense é apenas o decimo quarto em orçamento na primeira divisão do Brasil, então tudo que o Fluminense apresenta como futebol foi conquistado com muito pouco investimento! Imagino o que aconteceria com um elenco caro nas mãos.
É isso que muitos não sabem, e ficam querendo desmerecer a conquista da libertadores.
Mas temos algo que todos os outros não tem: uma categoria de base respeitosa e a mais forte do Brasil. A saúde de um club é muito em virtude da categoria de base e o Fluminense ainda tem dois craques que um dia irão atuar no time profissional: Kauã Elias e Matheuzinho, que darão muitas alegrias para a gente ainda. 🇮🇹🏆

Calma, Cinderelo, apenas ganhou a Libertadores, que é 1 campeonato curto e de mata-mata. Aquele que o Santos quase ganhou há uns 3 anos.
Obrigado pelo vídeo, que foi muito bem feito, a única atenção mesmo é que o Fluminense jogou quase um terço do Campeonato Brasileiro ou com time reserva ou time misto, priorizando a Copa Libertadores. O Fluminense brigaria tranquilamente pelo título caso não estivesse na luta pela sua primeira taça continental, tal como foi em 2022.

Amazing video, as a Fluminense fan it´s great to see the recognition that we are getting. Thanks for that.
A lot of the reason for our 7th placement, is that Fluminense has a brilliant main team, but with little to none replacements of the same quality. At one point in the league we had a drought of about 5-8 games without winning, and 5 without scoring a goal, because every main player of the left side was in medical department (Marcelo, Keno, Alexsander, Martineli). It was during this time that we were eliminated from the Copa Brasil also. At that moment I think the club saw very clearly, that if they focused on the brazillian league as they focused on the Libertadores, they would not win neither, because the main players might get hurt again.
We hope that in this next season we can find players of quality as replacements for the main team. One very promising player that has signed is Renato Augusto from Corinthians, which seems to be as much of a genius as Ganso, but with a different style. So we hope next season will be even greater.

I think you only missed the mark when importing European rulers to measure success in Brazil. Brasileirão started around the 60's and the current model only started in 2003. Also, the country has over 15 different clubs winning it (even more clubs winning the Copa do Brasil, which itself is not very old either and didn't feature Copa Libertadores playing teams for a while). It is reasonable for a Brazilian club to be one of the greats with a modest 5 national championships. For the longest time football culture valued the state championships over everything else, even Copa Libertadores at some point.
For reference, the biggest winner of the Brasileirão just achieved its 12th, and is the only club with double-digits trophies. The greatest winner of the Copa do Brasil has 6, and haven't won one in over a decade.
Brazil is a very competitive environment and great clubs can live long drought periods. It is ludicrous to compare domestic success in Brazil to any other country.

@@FootLoreYT Side note, Fluminense was the Carioca champion of the century( State Championship was the most important and prestigious till the 70's when started the national championship model), so it makes the club the most sucessful inside the Rio de janeiro state.

Fluminense also has a 1952 Internacional Trophy, which in fact the club is trying to recognize with FIFA as a Club World Cup Champion trophy. Futhermore, state championship was a really important competition until de 90s, and throughout this whole period, Flu was the the greatest champion in Rio.

As a Fluminense fan, I also appreciate that you picked our team as subject for this video.
Actually, I think this Fluminense team, lead by Diniz, reflects the very identity of Fluminense's fans.
I say this because we are far away from being the most popular club in Brazil. And, I don't know if this also happens in other parts of the world. But, in Rio de Janeiro, the club that the person supports kind of reflects one's personality.
But, we are stubborn, love and keep supporting Fluminense, even not being the most popular of the country and being underrated by several from the current generations.
Diniz showed a Fluminense that is faithful to its playing style, even if it costs losing to Manchester City for 4x0. We dared to play against the best team of thw world nowadays without giving up our syle, our game and our personality. even being criticized by doing so by so many here in Brazil.
By the way, they only really criticized Fluminense's style now that we lost for City. But, when we won Libertadores and during our campaign in this tournament, only journalists that support other teams and try to disguise that had the courage of criticizing our style. Here in Brazil today, everyone is saying that Diniz is crazy, stupid, etc etc...
But, this is Fluminense... we are what we are... no one will change that. In victory or defeat we are tricolores and nothing else matters...

I'm Brazilian and a Fluminense fan. Thiago Silva was formed in Fluminense's youth academy, just like Marcelo. But Marcelo came to the professional team playing for Fluminense, while Thiago Silva left the Fluminense's youth to become a professional footballer in "RS Futebol" which is a very small club in Rio Grande do Sul, then he was transfered to Juventude, the third best club in Rio Grande do Sul, then to Porto B, loan to Dinamo Moskva, and finally, to Fluminense's professional team.

With Copa Libertadores on sight, and with 9 points distance from nr 1 in the league, we spared some players before important matches (to avoid- injuries), and after winning Libertadores, we saved few of them to keep them rested and ready for our 1st ever FIFA World Cup.
