Very cool video ! I have a 496 fuel injected motor in my boat and was considering a carb conversion to make things simple and reliable... (and faster) but now may put one of these sniper units on a Dart carb'd intake instead. Looks very reliable and easier to tweak/tune.
I got one on eBay that was aluminum and didn’t last a year…..took it to a Waterjet guy and had a 304 stainless block of steel cut out. Took to my friends shop and had the hole drilled and tapped for the 02. I used a 90 degree bung and that has worked well to keep sensors from getting moisture on it from exhaust.
I know this was a year ago, but the engine cutting ignition to shift, is something you can program into your Holley, and get it to cut fuel at the same time..
I would like to know more about your suggestion! I asked Holley on the phone about it but I don’t think I described it properly because they didn’t have any reply.
Yes horizon 190. When it works it’s awesome. I have had a bad o2 and it still worked ok when unplugged. New o2 then a couple hours later it ran horrible dumping fuel. Unplugged o2 and no change. Holley sent warranty shipping label for the main unit. They tested and said nothing wrong. I reinstalled and it works great……when it works it is excellent!

Please explain further about the shift interrupt switch. I was considering the Edelbrock carb and now looking at the sniper EFI. my concern is when the shift interrupt switch grounds the EFI. Thank You.
The sniper unit is not connected to the shift ignition interrupt switch. I had originally wired the sniper tach wire to the coil which is wrong. 2nd video talked about it. I have yet to get boat back in the water to see if any difference wired properly. Holley describes that sniper is sensitive to electrical noise. 3rd video will be completed when I get boat in the water to test.
Love the video a lot of useful information I just talked to my boat mechanic he was saying that EFI was a waste of time to notice any improvements in performance or horsepower how about having trouble with O2 sensors
When you say the sniper does not like the mercruiser interrupt shifting switch what specifically does the sniper not like? also, did your sniper kit come with the new distributor and how did you go about installing it and who did you purchase through and how were the instructions and or phone support as well as cost. Thanks by the way the video helped me thanks for making it.
When the ignition cuts out there is a cough/ sputter during shifting out of gear. Not the end of the world. Bought it through Jeggs. No support with jeggs. Holley has been helpful over the phone. I use the stock distributor with pertronix ignitor. My sniper was working great for about 50hrs and then started flooding. Sent unit back and they said 2 months to even get to it. Sometime in February is what they said and it went bad early December. Hope it is a fluke problem….. time will tell. When it works it is awesome but when it goes bad there is no limping it home in my experience.
hi, Im trying to order this kit for my me cruiser 350 vintage 1985 cant seem to get these guys on the phone , I dont see a kit with the plate under the riser like you did, is there a kit with that, or is it separate ?
Hi I am looking for a spacer plate for a 454 big block I am changing it over to an EFI this winter time could you tell me what you look for on eBay for that thanks
This will get you started. I didn’t see an option for 454. I have seen from google search in the past. Watch then second video on the fuel pump switch for coast guards compliance.
Thanks for letting me know. I watched some videos that suggested because the tach does a surge when the ignition is first turned on, that the computer thinks that the engine needs that much fuel and it instructs the injectors to give that much fuel, causing flooding on warm starts. I'm glad to know that this product is not causing that for you! Can you send me a link to where you purchased this, please, and a link to the other 2 videos. Thanks
@@AK-ki5kz I purchased from jeggs. It was the kit version that came with the pump, hose and fittings. You may want to price out getting the pump and hose separately if for marine application.

I bought the kit marine kit from Holley. It comes with marine rated pump. I used stock distributor with pertronix pickup and coil. Be sure to remove resistor wire. I have videos on that too. I left link in another reply. eBay marine gm 350 02 sensor plate.
I have a couple videos about sniper install. I don’t think specific about the ignitor. It is a basic coil negative wiring. Totally stock. Nothing unique.

Not sure why people feel the need to do this. My old Rochester Quadrajet on my Merc 5.7 runs and works like a champ. Great fuel efficiency and horsepower. Easy to maintain.
Your fuel system install is dangerous. It needs to be wired so the pump will not turn on unless it senses oil pressure. Single hose clamps and rubber hose is risky as well. I highly recommend a intank returnless pump with braided fuel hose and -AN fittings wired the way I mentioned. 😎
Thank you for sayN hi!!!! The switch your describing has already been installed and wired as per USCG requirements. I am making a follow up video. The kit came with vapor guard hose Which is coast guard approved. The clamps installed are rated for fuel injection and are stainless steel. There was not enough room on the fitting to dual clamp unless it was on the barb. I did not see a USCG requirement for dual clamps. If you have a link please share. I also have a momentary button installed to be able to prime the system before cranking which is USCG approved. Any further info please share thank you. Go USA!!!!!!
