She needs some tender loving care! That oil hose you put the clamp on should drop right thru the drain plug at the engine - warm oil up, feed hose out the drain plug and let gravity do the work. A lot of hose clamps won't fit thru the drain plug hole, most use a shower curtain hanger to keep the hose above the normal oil level. Good video!
I have a 1985 Cruisers Yacht 296 Avanti Vee with Dual PCM 351 W. Been on the hard for many years due to health issues. Finally bought a Trailer and brought her home. Now going to go through her with a fine tooth comb before I Sea Trial her. You brought up some good Maintenance items that I will be. Sure to address. Thank you!
Extremely informative video thank you! Quick question, where would you look first if there are low RPMs when you just put it in forward/reverse? I have the same engine and the RPMs drop to 150-200 sometimes even after adjusting the idle pin.
Hey, would you say that's a normal amount of corrosion on a ski boat and is that heat exchanger tired? I'm shopping for an older ski boat at the moment.
yea, fairly normal for a boat that's not been well kept on paint touchup on engine. also this engine does not have any heat exchanger. maybe your thinking of the water muffler.
I have the same egine. Just replacedvwirh a rebuild last year snd rebuilt transmission and new, very high end, carburetor. Took it back at end of last year because of recurring problem. When cool, 1st start, i get rough dtart with lots of smoke. Then runs smooth and clean. After warm up, in gear, i can floor it, boat accelerates very fast. But st around 3,000 starts to miss between 3,000 and 3,500. Its hsrd to replicate in the shop? Could this be something called point bounce?
My boat currently won’t go over 25 changed the water fuel separator, fuel filter, just about everything have u heard anything about this problem with this motor? I have tried everything and can’t figure anything out
I’m sorry, but that’s about a near impossible question to answer without having the watercraft in possession to check it. I would recommend you get it to a reputable repair shop and have them look at it.

Sounds lik eit and cold start may be fuel or oil.
Are you running ethanol?

You’re in limp mode
mine wouldn’t run past 2500 rpm’s. 1987 prostar 190 351W it was my spark plug wires.
