This was such an important service for those of us planning a trip to south Oaxaca. Your eating locations make me want to go fly out there tomorrow! Could you also include talks with the cooks, and/or with the owners to get their perspectives of the food they serve as well as the history of their businesses? I think that would be cool as well. This was informative and entertaining. Mil gracias.
absolutely! We love to interview cooks and get stories. We love the idea and we will seek ways to integrate behind the scene stories! Thank you so much for the idea
I watched this video before but wanted to watch it again because of all the food! One thing I like is that some of the food is only available at certain times or on certain days. It makes it feel like you have a mission or an adventure every day because of the limited availability.
Amal! Thank you so much for watching. If you ever want to meet us up in Mexico just message me privately. Jenny and I would more than happy to host you and take you around. ESPECIALLY if you want to come to Puerto Escondido! Saludos! I hope all is well -Kevin!
Kind'a late but here you are. Mole means simply "salsa", or sauce, in Nahua. Moles are varied and each State, even each town, has its specialty. They typically consist of a mixture of chiles, nuts, fruit and other spices. The ones made with chocolate are the mole poblano and the Oaxacan mole negro.
Wow, this ALL looks so ridiculously delicious we don’t know where to start! From the sandwich and green juice in the beginning, the tostada de pescado marinado, and that Italian spot looks freakin’ incredible! Hand made gnocchi? Count us IN! “Japan meets Mexico… “ is the most intriguing & appetizing statement we’ve heard in a long time. YUM!!! So hungry now. 🤤
If you like seafood la tostada de pescado is OUT OF THIS WORLD!!! The italian spot is so damn cool. The owner always has house music in the background which is super random but it's a low so not everytime we hear house music we crave italian food! lol😂
Cheers big ears! My first time in Mexico next year in January and the tastiest place straight out in the Oaxaca area (Huatulco, Playa Zipolite and Puerto Escondido), thanks Jenny and Kevin. I'll try! 😀
I could actually see Kevin and Jenny starting their own little restaurant or food shack. You can tell they truly appreciate good food and I bet they would create some great food themselves.
Estoy tan celoso! And I love the fact that everyone in Mexico these days are wearing cubrebocas. No jerks asserting their freedom to infect the world. Fantastic food. After we make the move, Puerto Escondido will definitely be on our bucket list of places to visit!
It helps that the police are quite strict on masks here! 2 hours in jail or $500 peso fine. Nevertheless, people are pretty good about wearing masks. And sanitizing. The food alone is good enough reason to visit but there’s also beaches and wildlife, so that’s cool too 😆
Daym you guys went to some nice spots, makes me miss puerto escondido. Those smoked fish tacos were bomb, and fresh quesillo is amazing i would have that for breakfast almost everyday. Or some oaxacan honey with milk is just mmm
Those fish tacos were awesome! El viejo is an awesome person to hang out and talk to. Quesillo is amazing it's easily my favorite cheese(kevin). Oaxacan honey with milk? gotta try it next time!
Awesome review and guide guys! Really well put together. Informational, and hunger inpsiring! If we hit la Juquilena we may never leave but I think for a single dish those smoked fish tacos are dream inspiring 🤣🤣🤙💖
Thank you very much for this excellent overview! I was frantically marking these spots on my map app for our trip coming up in December. My resolution is to visit every one (and the gelato place)! I am particularly excited about three places I walked by during my last visit but did not try: El Viejo, La Juquilena and Non Solo Pizza. I just subscribed and will be toasting you in gratitude when I am enjoying these restaurants!
Glad to help Vancouver Dan!! Don’t forget to try the fish shack! We miss it so so much! We’ll be back soon we miss the food so much. Let us know if you any more questions when you’re out there! 😊
Okay the chilaquiles , mole and everything in between looked so delicious but you really save the best for last 😍 Todo Se me Antojo 😋 Thank you for sharing Don't mind me saving the video 🤗 for future reference
Great food tour video - loved it and all the different types of food that you had! As you travel over the next year, you will find there are so many types of mole - 20 - 25 at least. They vary as you travel, so what you find in Puerto will be quite different than what you find in Puebla (a real foodie town - beautiful old city). Enjoy and keep up the good work!
Thanks for the comment! We were so close to visiting Puebla back in January but the weather conditions were bad to travel from Orizaba to Puebla. We noticed the difference from mole in Oaxaca city to Puerto so we really look forward to trying the mole in Puebla soon! We’ll let you know when we head up there!
Great variety of food places in this video! We were in Puerto for a month, and didn’t get to hit all of these spots. Our favorite place was Tistal, but we liked La Juquileña too!
We ate so much but this was also in 6-7 week span. We have never heard of Tistal where is that located? You can never go wrong with La Juquileña our favorite amarillo de pollo was at el Mercado. Saludos!
@@EatBailaTravel It’s on the ocean side of the main highway (highway 200) across from Calle Virgilio Uribe, near the top of a very long pedestrian walkway connecting with Calle del Morro that’s like 90% stairs. Always worth the ascent though👌🏼 we walk there from Calle del Morro in our Waves & Caffeine video if you need some visual guidance🙂
@@EatBailaTravel we are planning a trip to Puerto escondido in November, I am so excited to go but also nervous. Thank you guys so much for sharing your videos!! It puts my mind at ease to have stuff like this laid out so clearly!!!
Haha we’re not vegetarians by any means but when you’re near a beach seafood is the way to go. Puerto doesn’t have great beef but the north of mexico has amazing beef. When we go to the north we rarely have seafood
Hi Tanya, thanks for watching! The city is very walkable, but the taxis are also very affordable. There are also colectivos and pasajeros (like climbing on to the back of a pick up truck with a blue tarp over it) for $8 pesos to get across town.
Wow, all that food looks great! I forgot to count the meals or outfit changes, so I will just ask: how many days did it take to eat your way through all that? ☺😎😂
😂 this comment is hilarious! We love it so much we’re going to pin it. We have been in Puerto Escondido for a month so that’s about as long as this Vlog took. Otherwise it would have been expensive to spend all that money in a short amount of time! Saludos Steve thanks for watching.
so have you guys seen a place called La Vaca Loca? It is a bar owned by a guy I know in Sanderson TX. it is supposed to be not such a nice place. i've never been there.

Awesome! What’s your go-to way of keeping lists of places you want to go? We use flags on Google Maps but I always wonder what else people use 😁
@@EatBailaTravel I make a new list for each city I travel to and save places with notes like "best oysters in town"

I read somewhere that mole was a word that meant sauce in nahuatl
So guacamole = aguacate sauce, etc
