I took my Mum out to the farm this harvest, She is 83 and had dairy farmed so has had nothing to do with grain. She was telling stories of being with her Dad, just after WW2 feeding the oats into the threshing mill driven by a big belt from the traction engine. She really enjoyed the day.

I love watching Cole explain the technology to grandma. My son explained a cd player to his grandma one time. It was such a precious memory. Now I'm almost grandma's age and I can tell you there is a lot to keep up with. We need a young person around to help us keep up.

I used to be the one setting up all the VHS recording schedules, and making sure all the electronics and appliances in the house weren't flashing 12:00 on their clocks, and setting up the pager and the answering machine, and connecting the CD player to the stereo and the Atari to the TV. Explaining why you don't need to adjust the antenna because we have cable. Now it's ME saying, "What do I click on now? How do I take a selfie? What the hell is a you tube ?" Deep sigh.

I grew up on a family-owned dairy farm...450 milk cows. You heard the old saying: 'you can take the girl out of the country but you can't take the country out of the girl'? That's me! I will ALWAYS be a farmer's daughter!
I started out programming computers on punch cards in 1968. Now I can't keep up with this stuff any more. Just bottles my mind. Bought a new car and couldn't even figure out how to open the fuel filler door. Time to send me off to Shady Pines.

I grow up in Denmark in a small town and not far from our house was fields of hay....we boys loved to play and make caves of hay on the field....the farmer wasn't happy about it. My uncle had a farm with both pigs and cows but I was just a little boy that time but still remember how smelly it was haha :-) Greetings from Thailand. Shalom!
Our 13 year old grandson was driving the corn tractor this weekend. He’s been part of harvesting since he’s been a baby sitting in his baby seat in the combine. I love farming family!
I liked to watch tractor tires turning as a kid as well.
And is always nice (and familiar) to hear a farm kid talking about his tractor.

Omg grandma is precious! she reminds me of my grandma! she was allowed to drive the tractor until she took out the cow fence 50 some odd years ago. Was amazing to see your grandma take in all the technological advances since she was behind the wheel so fluently. That is a brave, smart women right there!

Honestly I would too for me its like an investment because here where I live there's lots of agriculture and well they pay good here to be a tracker driver and the trackers here are less hard we dont harvest corn
I would do this. I haven't driven to rode in a tractor since I was in my 20s. Pretty much no heavy equipment since I left my home town, but I did drive an airport shuttle for several years. After that, I was a full time office drone. BUZZZZZ-that's me sleeping while awake doing the boring stuff.
