Thanks Craig yea I think that year was a bit different as was heavy snow. Concentrating the deer to those areas. I have been in the same area a few times again and was no where near those numbers :)
Hi Peter, thanks for the comment! I Love the big South Island country, something pretty cool about getting out in the hills. Stoked you liked it man. Cheers
Thanks mate, a cull is definitely required. Biggest issue is in that back country is everyone is after a trophy Stag so the hinds get left. Sort of catch 22. Shoot hinds and scare stags away? Cheers for the comment
Thanks mate na it’s a Hyperlite northrim 4400, awesome lightweight pack. Most of these winter trips I’m sitting about 16kg total weight for 4 days. And that’s with all the GoPro gear etc for filming.
Last year I seemed to have a lot planned in the winter. But yes I do really enjoy it. Stags mob up, nice cool days, get in before they drop their heads thanks
In the hills bro :) get out there and explore and you’ll come across some epic spots sooner or later. Taken a few years now but I have slowly figured out a few good spots. Cheers 🤪

Cool as.
Thanks man. Was an epic mission
Nice stags guys and nice looking country. A cull required alright to protect those tussock lands. Surprised it doesn't get a lot of pressure?

Why do you prefer to hunt in Winter? Is it the concentration of deer that time of year? They seem to mob up.
