It really enhances the stereo spread of the drums and mix. It almost feels like a maximiser with subtle saturation thrown on it. And I loved the calibration and noise sounds. But the delay was BEAUTIFUL. It sounded like actual tape loop delay and not like how tape delay plugins claim they sound like. But then again, their previous lo-fi tape emulator is one of the best sounding ones ever, so this doesn't surprise me they hit this one out of the park

Very nice drums sound, what drums you are using?

How does it compare to Airwindows ToTape8 though? Because that one's not only frikken amazing, but also free...

I really wanted to like it, but after placing it across every track in my session, it sounded lo-fi and grainy, felt the same-ish way about Chow Tape. IK Tape Machine 80, on the other hand, blew my mind. UAD Studer is a close second.

@@NovianLeVanMusic Well, tastes differ, and that's okay! I find that ToTape8 tends to make, well, everything sound better...

ok it's a Studer.. like Universal Audio's with different tape options (again like AU's) ...but I guess cheaper? I mean nowadays we have so many emulations of the same stuff it's unbelievable...

Very different machine. A tube based studer from the 1950’s. The UAD studer is much more hifi, being a solid state machine from the 1980’s that is one of the highest fidelity multitrack machines ever made.

Yeah, I think 50 bucks as a promo for existing FX5 users is too much. 30 to 40 as an intro price would be more in the impulse buy area.

As UA-cam's encoding doesn't respect too much of audio, I suggest you demo both, but tbh maybe it's not that much better. I do like the Arturia one better

Waves’ analog emulations were once all that was out there, but other manufacturers have since significantly surpassed their quality. I’ve no doubt this is worth the extra cash if you are specifically comparing the two to find your go-to tape machine emulation.

I think i tend to prefer the kind of tape plugins that arent trying quite as hard to perfectly match anything in particular.
