I've had a 2005 C55 for 13 years. It is by far my favorite car I've ever had. I have other vehicles so I don't drive it much now for several reasons, but I'll never sell it.
I track my c55 - never had an issue with transmission temp. Actually never had issues with anything except the brake rotors and pads. which is a given for track cars.
Thanks for making these videos man. You already know your videos were one of the main drivers in my decision to buy my c55. Sad to see you sell it I won’t ever sell mine and I just installed a new transmission.
I had one of these, had all of 2 grand in it, it was wrecked with high miles but i fixed it and just beat on the car endlessly and it always wanted more, zero issues. It was more fun than my E55 honestly. Im looking for another now, I miss that gutted resonator 5.4 exhaust! It still can beat up on various cars on the street leaving them wondering wtf that 4 door benz has under the hood!
Great vid guy!👍🏻👍🏻 Being a fan of naturally aspirated performance vehicles, I love my C55. The roads here in Houston SUCK! But they get better the further away from downtown you get from. It’s a very fun car to drive and always feels comfortable for my tastes. Love the exhaust note. I’ve also got the Silver with black interior. Just installed new Michelin Pilot Sport 4S rubber all the way around. For a 16 year old car over the years, I’ve always kept it, well maintained, super cleaned, detailed & in pristine shape. Because the car still looks new, I get lots of compliments and looks. I’ll never depart from mine.
Haha awesome, much appreciated! Welcome to San Diego, it's a great town with lots to do. Good luck in your search for a C55, I've got tons of content on the one I had if you're looking for more info about the cars.
HI! I live in Bangkok and trying to choose between c32 and c55. Price of C55 3k dollars higher, c32 on blistein coilovers. Did you try c32 also? What can you recommend ? Thanks
I'm currently looking into one myself I have a C230 compressor same color but I'm just finding that I want something definitely with some more pep in it shall we say. Curious as to why you sold it if I may ask?
I just bought one c55 amg from Copart, has a minor front crash but I will have to buy the hood, grill and a headlight. Other people fought for it I almost bought it on 5,000 but ended up wining it on 7,000, will be taking it to Mexico, I’m from Juarez and I will be paying around 10 k adding the fees, transport (bight it in Michigan), importación and fixing it. It has 85,000 miles and I’m looking to keep that baby, you did a nice video and convinced me to add an exhaust, sound great. What do you think for the price paid? There is only 1 in Mexico currently selling and it’s around 20k. Do you recomend me leaving it stock ? I think maybe it will have more value. Thanks for the video man❤
Forgot to put the year, it’s a 2006. I bought the carfax and it has had its maintenance on time, they even did maintenance to the trans at 70,000 miles. It’s my first v8 and my first amg, I can’t wait to have it over here in Juarez 👌🏻
Glad you enjoyed the video! Sounds like you found a nice C55, minus some minor damage. A sub 100k mile C55 is a good find, especially for 10k. I wouldn’t worry about resale, especially this car has an accident on the history report. Find some tasteful mods from reputable Mercedes aftermarket brands, like Renntech, and have fun with it! A buddy of mine has quite a C55 he’s built up over the years, check his channel our called Anderzen.
I owned a 2005 and it was great. I payed 7500 and it only had 52k miles. I owned it for 2 years and put 7k miles on it and sold it for 8200. It should be worth way more.
I lucked out on a 2 owner 120,000 mile c55 silver with black interior. Took a plane from San Diego to Oakland to get it. Put 19,000 miles on it this year and it runs like a dream. I looked up the owner who had it most of its life and he was an older animal lover guy who I can’t see doing burnouts nonstop so I got lucky
Have you had any issues with the harmonic balancer? Mine was wobbling so I got it replaced at the dealership and it still wobbles. Technician says it’s ok but I’m not sure. What’s your take on this?
I personally never had any issues with mine or really heard of them being a problem with these cars. However that’s not to say the HBs can’t go bad. It’s funny you commented this on my C55 video because I’m going through the process now with my C5 corvette to replace the HB because it’s a very common failure point with those cars. I too have heard that even after replacing the HB, it is normal to have some wobble still. As long as it’s not affecting the belt (noise or wearing the belt) and the belt staying secure, even at higher RPMs, I think you’ll be okay.
@@Addimotive thank you for the prompt response! I was told the same as you said and to rest easy. I have a knack for getting myself worried. Before I got my amg I was thinking to get a c4 corvette.

It depends. This is a great car, but these are the points to consider, especially as a first car: -gas mileage isn't great (I averaged about 15 MPG combined city/highway - depending on the mileage of the car, it may need some maintenance - all of these cars, regardless of mileage are 15-16 years old now so certain rubber and plastic components will need to start getting replaced - if you're mechanically inclined, that will help. Otherwise find a good independent shop that will work on Mercedes, do NOT take it to the dealership for maintenance, they will charge you an arm and a leg - parts will be more expensive when compared to a more economical domestic or Japanese car, but in my opinion, parts weren't really that bad. Buy from FCPeuro and they have a lifetime warranty on parts. - insurance will be more expensive since it still is a Mercedes - power is not a TON but it still can get you into some trouble if not driven responsibly, especially when its wet conditions With all that said, if you don't have a crazy long commute and can budget ahead of time for some needed maintenance and potential repairs, I think these are awesome cars.
@@Addimotive I will attest to the fuel costs, I have a Merc with an M112 fully built by Renntech and it averages 14, Chicago gas ain’t cheap either. NA takes some gas
Right on. Yea the E55's are great, but I loved the C55 because it was a smaller car with a shorter wheelbase, so it felt a lot more nimble around turns. I drove a few of my buddy's E55s and they were great cars, but had a slightly different driving feel, especially the later supercharged W211s.@@uzzle21
