Omg don y’all are lucky to have people that give you those old machines. Those are awesome. Love your new quilt and your quilting with Don episodes. I started quilting last year, I have sewn for years but n3ver quilted. I, having fun. Your videos and the ones you have done with Carolin hav3 been very informative. I have not attempted anything quite as difficult as yours yet. Cheers

We really are lucky! First the electric 99K, and now this hand crank model. In fact, Carolyn's Featherweight was also given to her, and now that I think about it, I think she traded something for our treadle machine (built in 1906) too. Hmm - does that make us sewing machine collectors? Cheers!

Really beautiful! You chose the right yellow for the border. If you're the mitre king of Canada, I'm the mitre queen of Minnesota. I use them on all borders ( inner and outer) of all my quilts and have been known to give impromptu lessons at the fabric store. Love.your sense of color and am envious of your new Singer.

Thanks! The new hand crank Singer is really interesting, and I think I'll have to develop a one handed technique (for the material) so that the other hand can turn the crank. Yes, from now on, I'll probably do mitred corners on the borders. It looks good and is relatively easy to do.

Thank you! Now I'm mulling over how to quilt it. I think I'm going to do some custom design work for the long-arm machine, working on a diamond shaped pattern to place in each of the 30 diamonds that are in this pattern. Count 'em! 15 blue, 9 green, and 6 red.

Thanks! Even though I'm a little colour blind, I'm developing a good sense of what goes with what. Carolyn does help me pick colours when I ask, but usually I'm OK on my own. Cheers!

Thank you very much. It came out better than I thought it might for a while there, when the organza was giving me grief. It all looks good now!

Oh wow, this is a burst of primary colors. I was fascinated by the net addition on parts of the pieces. Did any snag? . This is lovely.

Definitely a 'Burst'!! This is one of the things that attracted me with the pattern. Regarding the organza, it actually sewed quite nicely and even behaved when being attached to other fabrics. I did have to be very careful with laying it down and making sure that it did not deform along the bias / diagonal direction. Next time, I think I'll use a fusible web to glue it to the underlying fabric, if there is a next time for working with it. Cheers!
