This insect was nightmare for me in my college days.. Back in the hostel these fly gave us painful memories, we were unaware of this insect and after 1 year of all the sufferings we came to know about it.

I am wondering why never any photos of burnt fingers (the ones they crushed the beetles on their bodies/faces)?..

Само заживёт полностью и без помощи. Главное не чесать пораженные участки кожи. Если жук только укусил, можно избежать последствий, промыв место свежим картофельным соком.

I am not an expert, you might want to check out dermnetnz.org/topics/paederus-dermatitis . Just some information I found on line. Can't personally verify site, since this not my field of expertize, just thought it might give you some direction for further research.

Temporary the darkish pigmentation of the skin last for a few days As if the skin is burnt and treatments with antihistamines eg hydrocortisone can do worth while considering this is the mostly ointments that people apply to burnt area coz the insects body fluid causes a burning sensation in skin. Am talking from experience lived in parts of Kenya like Baringo where this fly appears during certain seasons of year. Cheers

@waqar khan the hydrocortisone reduces inflammation as it's a corticosteroids coz the skin is reacting to the corrosiveness of the insect's fluid and it appears charred

We are glad you found the video helpful. The current rains in East Africa have definitely increased the sightings of the insect. We were hoping to shed some light on the insect so that people would know what they were looking for and how to safeguard themselves.
