  • TC Electronic G system presets Here I go over every single preset that comes by default with the G system + a few personal effects combination as a bonus. I haven't altered the audio in any way, keeping the sounds as they come. For recording I have used a Custom Les Paul model guitar -2 humbuckers and a Friedman amp -Only used the XLR output -Cab simulation. Same EQ, same clean channel and volume.

What I like about the G System is that it gives you what a live performer would use!!! You just need a good overdrive to go with it :) I also use a Boss EQ200 with it :) forget amp sims, who needs them! Just plug it into a good amp and that’s all you need :)

@@JesusOtinChannel I was particularly interested as I like the drive pedals I use, but I wanted amp switching and effects integration, I like the look of the effects editor. I will be trying to use the 4 cable method.

I'm using 4 cable method, with the brain rack-mounted and the pedal on the floor with volume and expression pedals next to it. Used a 15 foot Cat 5 cable with XLR protection shields on the ends to connect the brain and the floor unit.
Also connected a TC Nova Drive (analog overdrive and distortion but digital controls with presets and MIDI) integrated w G-System plus volume and expression pedals. I had to buy the Nova used and then build the required split-MIDI cable (plugs into both MIDI IN and MIDI OUT on the G-System and to the MIDI on the Nova Drive) because it was discontinued years ago and hard to find.
I just installed the Vyzor preset editor this morning (downloaded from the TC support website) and connected to the G-System by USB.
I had to install an RJM Amp Gizmo in the rack (replacing the amp's foot controller) to change channels on my 4-channel non-midi amp but it works fine setting the MIDI program change in the preset. Will also probably set up 4 dedicated channel change presets that are bypass effects but have appropriate MIDI program change.) Have to remember to put amp switch PC in every preset because G-System defaults to sending the preset number and that could put me in the wrong amp channel if not fixed in the presets.
I used the G-System loops for 1) NOVA drive 2) EFX HOG 2 and 3) Strymon Timeline fed into Big Sky and trigger them from the top row of buttons on the floor unit. The pedals are also in a MIDI loop with the G-System but I'm still working out a connection bug there. I can connect the drives individually via a MIDI connector directly to my laptop but with the loop they are invisible to my laptop SO FAR! could be a bad cable somewhere, I'll work it out. The connection lets me update firmware on the Strymon pedals and edit their presets with the Strymon Nixie editor that I downloaded from their support website.
BTW, I used Ebtech Hum Eliminators to create balanced connections from the amp to the G-System.
I also threw in a Mesa Cabclone between the preamp out / amp in connection so I can send an XLR audio feed to my laptops audio / MIDI interface (a two-channel Aphex IN2 that also controls my studio monitors / headphones out). Besides the excellent post-FX feed to my DAW, this gives me a point where I can cut off the amp speaker and listen through headphones for silent practice.
    Hours of fun!

great set up! did you note any tone loss when it is off?

@@user-nu7xx7pc1d I haven’t noticed tone loss because I haven’t been doing with vs without tests. The “with” is very tone-ful.
The rig has grown and been reorganized to some extent. I pulled the 2 Strymons out of their G-S loop and have them in series between the G-S out and the amp FX return. They’re physically on a 30” x 5” “Strymon Bridge” by Vertex Effects that sits even with the back of the G-S floor pedal. Also on the Bridge are a new Mobius and a Wounded Paw 4-channel analog Blender. I did get midi to play nice with everything but had to parch together a whole bundle of MIDI Solutions Merge and splits to get both the G-S and the Nova in the loop both with and without each other because neither has MIDI Through. But it works!
My biggest triumph is absolutely NO hum! The 2 Ebtech Hum Eliminators also act as mini-hubs because they each give me 2 ins and 2 outs so that’s how I patch in the Strymon Bridge and a second Vertex Effects board with the BB+, the RJM Mastermind and an effects pedals for all the MIDI non-G-S units, and a Ditto looper.
So, at this point I can pretty much choose any effect to be from G-S or the other pedals, with presets in G-S and the RJM.
For many people, the 4-channel Mesa Boogie Roadster would have been plenty. However I got it used and the reverb has never worked, so that started me down this “mad scientist” path. So that’s my story.

@@brucedarling4751 amazing set up and experience you have. Thank you so much for your kind response. I bought the unit about 6 years ago. In the fx loop works great for me but with the 4 CM, there is a small amount of tone loss that I do not like, mostly in clean presests. I will try the unit again. greetings from Chile!!

@@user-nu7xx7pc1d I have seen many commenters with that experience of tone loss. I suspect my more positive experience is due to my Mesa Boogie tube amp allowing me to provide tons of tone through any loss by the G-System and still leave more than enough to keep me happy. One thing I did try to keep more of the original tone was to insert a wet/dry blender (a Radial Reamp EXTC with its own FX loop) between the amp FX Return from the G-S and my side loop through the Strymons; but it introduced unacceptable hum into the signal so I took it back out. The solution to eliminating the hum might have been as simple as plugging the amp and the reamp into different wall plugs but I didn’t bother to track it down.

Wow... Underwhelming! Compared to the GForce or the G Major, I’m really surprised how bad these presets are.
