    After scouring the internet looking for info on 4cm hookup with g system finally i found this video! Im on the fence about getting this or the boss es-8 and the things i needed to know were the 4cm options, the gate features, channel switching, and being able to use the 4 extra loops either in front or in the fx loop. You have answered most all of my questions and now i think im going to get the g system. Like you said, for ease of use it just makes sense live to have your reverb, delay, boost, and gate already onboard. That cuts way down on external pedals which saves room and also cuts down on points of failure. That way i just put a couple favorites in the 4 extra loops and no more tap dancing! This is gonna be great- thanks so much for all your hard work putting this video together!

    That's a pretty sick job you did there with the 3d rendering, really cool! Thanks.

    Hi - thanks for doing this! Not sure if you'll get this after 2 years (!) but I recently got a G System which I have set up in 4CM with my Orange TH30. The only issue I have is with the tuner. Since the tuner is located after all the loops (I do not understand why this was designed this way - seems crazy!) it doesn't really work in 4CM unless I switch off the insert. Have you found out a way to fix this? At the moment I have a separate tuner pedal but it would be cool if I didn't need it. Thanks!

      I was not aware of the placement of the tuner in the signal chain. I assumed it was before everything. I don’t personally have any tuner issues.

      @@bhosterman I would have assumed that too but I looked into it because I was having issues and was surprised to find that the tuner is half way down the signal chain. Kind of like having it at the return of your FX loop. No idea why. I think for some reason my amp's pre-amp doesn't provide enough output to make the tuner work.

      @@ZenHelix that makes sense. Now that I think about it, I can’t tune in standby.

      @@bhosterman Yeah, makes sense. I think the issue is that my amp is non-master volume, so all the volume is controlled by the level of the pre-amp. So at home-friendly levels I have it down quite low...too low for the tuner apparently. At gig volumes the tuner actually works but since I can't rely on it I still have a tuner pedal on my board. I'd love to know what the logic was behind putting the tuner after the loops. Seems bizarre to me. Oh well.

      @@ZenHelix try this: set your volume high on the amp and the hit the edit bottom once, and then use the edit button to lower the output of the g system to quiet levels. It can essentially be your master. I do it all the time after I sound check but want to mess with my guitar at volumes that don’t piss everyone off. Then tap the edit button again and use the button to return to your regular volume.

    Great video! Looking at buying one. Still hold up to today's specs??

      Absolutely. If you’re not looking for the absolute latest in FX and want a reliable system I haven’t found anything better. Plus with 4 additional fx loops you can add outboard gear or pedals if you want say a better reverb or some specific pedal not featured in the available fx. It’s an absolute workhorse that I’ve used for 10 years trouble free.

    I need help figuring out how to run a overdrive pedal in the g system. No one I’ve found explains it but it says it can be done in the manual

      Are you using the g system in the 4 cable method setup? You can use a drive pedal in a loop if the g system is going into the front of the amp too. I have mine in LOOP one of the g sys. And I’m using the 4 cable method so the drive pedal is inserted before the front (preamp) of the amp like a traditional setup. If you’re only using the g sys in the loop of your amp this won’t work very well. I also assigned one of my switches along the top row to activate that LOOP so I can bring it in and out as I desire.

    This is so cool.....I am currently working on connecting my rig like this,except I am using an AxeFXIII instead of the TC....I got it specifically to do this and be a brain for my amp....

    Hi! Thanks a lot for this video! Looks amazing! Quick question please, if you ever need to use another amp, you´ll need to reconfigure the relay parameters again for that new amp?

    • @bhosterman
      @bhosterman  2 роки тому +1

      Depends on how many switching options the new amp has and how the switches are wired. I’d say about half the time my initial set up worked with a new amp and sometimes I just had to flip the relays. It’s very easy. You just scroll through the relay options until the channel you want lights up and then save that preset.

    • @astrofotoperu
      @astrofotoperu 2 роки тому

      @@bhosterman Thanks man! It would be nice if the gsystem had a "global relay" option, so that it could configure every preset whenever you use a new amp.

    • @bhosterman
      @bhosterman  2 роки тому +1

      @@astrofotoperu well as it works out you can save relay setting to individual presets so I just use different banks for different amps. That way I can switch back and forth without thinking about it.
