This is a book review based on what you feel is right thing to do, or what's right/wrong according to you.
This review is not based on how creative the author is, about his writing style, or how boring the whole story was (how much the author dragged it), rather it's solely based on your expectations from a married couple's behaviour.

Hi Avani , nice review but feeled biased. First of all this is fiction and not self-help. So I don't believe your views on his writing. It's my opinion that writer should explore things at extreme. As he should explore his imagination more the better. Nobody reads fiction to take life lessons atleast not me. Consider other works like toystory(movie) nobody feels it's nonsense as we are aware toys don't have such secret life( or do they 😉) but still we watch such movies and love so when it comes to relationships why he doesn't have right to explore. And lastly title is sufficient to explain people that story is going to be about adultery. So I don't see a complaint valid. P.S. people have option to express there views in comments so I feel you will think rationally about this. Peace.

The name of the book only is sufficient to comprehend the storyline. If you are against the idea to such an extent, then you must have kept distance. Why would you read the book in the first place, when you know that it is going to be about adultery ?
Don't forget that it is a work of fiction, and don't criticize writers for writing about feelings of such extent.

Mam, if you are not open to read books on vast and deep topics like adultery, PLEASE DO NOT READ. The title itself is self explanatory. Moreover, its a fictional story. Still, you are reviewing it as if somebody forced you to buy and read it as a punishment. Who loves adultery in ones life? But still we read it, bcoz it is coming from a great writer like Coelho. His each book has a take-away, always. Anyways, India is democratic. You can speak.
I am sorry but you shouldn't have chosen this book in the first place if u don't like the context about it after all the title of the book itself gives the view that it will be about a extramarital affair or that sort
The book could be fictional but i believe a writer like Paulo coelho wouldn't write a book without any reference. I believe the story is a reflection of things that happen in our society. We can't take it light by considering it a s a frictional work. We personally may know people who have cheated on their spouce or atleast heard of it. I think the numbers have only been rising as each year passes.
I was able to relate with the reviewer, it was so damn tough for me to finish this book, it felt like I took forever to finish it and really disliked it because I personally can't accept infidelity, no matter what the reasons are. At the same time, I felt I had to create a room for making me broadminded to accept that these are things that are happening no matter how much ever I detest it. As the book says, we all may go through tough times and may get lost in our marriages but I dont think redeeming oneself by sleeping with another person and cheating is a way to get back to track and appreciate all that we have. All I have to state is, anything and everything can be forgiven but not infidiltiy. The wounds that it causes will nevet heal. Am glad to have read this book even though it didn't voice my mind but instead for bringing clarity to my own thoughts and concepts. All the best to all.

That is the difference between Paolo Coelho and other authors. Paolo will punch your stomach if that is against your view and beliefs. But it’s proven that he can influence your mind.
If you step out and not get involved personally then you know its more about psychology story of some people.

It’s from a famous author but didn’t kick my stomach to read about the adultery story in there.
In a standard culture adultery is a wrong and sin. I am not pro adultery because I don’t want that in my married life.
But there are some situations people need to press their desire or willingness because of social acceptance. Whatever it is if you press and against your inner need then that will causing depression or disturb your communication with your partner / other.
Have you ever seen the boring couple in marriage life but still together until end of their time.
No theory because each person or couple have own background.
So what I can say if you like to read then you know life is not limited to your belief. If you want to read to make you happy then read something that is suit with your belief.
If you are crying it's actually not you are emotional. Just check your thyroid levels

Lindas are living in street to street. So it is important for me to know why linda didnot hate her legitimate husband?. Why she didnot change her husband in such a way that she likes him. What drove her for another man. I expected your reviews on those angles
Today I finished this book, and my opinion on this book is that this book was dark and little dull in start but I liked the endings, I did not like this book very much, even though I liked the writer but it had very little of good plot, I did not like the plot very much but neither disliked it ..... I would say its average and there might be lessons which depends upon who takes it.
I think you should read first name of the book and have some idea before reading it.....

I did not care for this book as well. Beyond the moral issue and not being to relate to it. I just simply did care for this character or her story. I only finished it because I started it. It took me a while to finish it as well. This book felt like a book report that I did not want to do in high school.

:D Only these 2 by Paulo Coelho, then I gave up on him
i had some great thoughts about Paulo Coelho from the good reviews about him,almost all reviews said how great his books are.. but adultery was at best disappointing, the other book about the latino lady who traveled all the way to work as prostitute in Switzerland and what she suffered it was a total failiure,and some other book i read a few chapters here and there ,they were as bad...i was very disappointed maybe i read it in a hurried way ,but no i dont think so ,all these books were not good at all

True. Even if you remove infedality aspect, coelho writes vague shit like the alchemist.
You are not a good reader. Because u just judge the content of the book with the practical world and ur personnal charector. But as a reader perspective explain how the writer described things and how he narrated the story. This book is all about adultery and thats what we can expect. The auther actually pointed his view of adultery with a story telling. Thats what this book all about. I was laughing after viewing ur review. In last chapter he said all this book is about the charecterlessness of a person and explained the value of having relationship. In my opinion pls dont review any book with ur personal judgement and practical life.
