Oh man! Seems we have both hit the same MF01X wall! IDK what was limiting our speed, others seem to have no issues going faster. But as you said, it's been a ton of fun and for me personally, you helped me keep trying because of our little friendly private battle. But I saw that GPS app of yours with 45 on it. I call it a draw and I'm totally happy with that, it's been a blast, brother!
It was fun playing catch up with you blokes in the 40's. We nearly did it! Lol You know the saying? "Speed costs money, how fast do you want to go?" Haha Bad luck with the electronics, mate. Bring on next year!!!
Yeah. It happens. I see a silver lining. I'm shopping around for a good micro lathe and a stock pile of the needed brushes. I found my Orion has a badly burned brush lead and I'm praying I can save it. It o my had 2 runs on it. Thank you for the kind comment. I hope it was fun!
Wow that's a ton of motors. I just couldn't afford a crash and only put in 2 motors. Next year I'm going to be ready financially to invest in my car I hope. Not sure if I will do brushed next year as well. But we will see. Congrats on the 44.7 🎉! Subbed so I will be watching your vids. Take care! 👍
Great run. I like the idea of a backup GPS and the sound as the car passes by. See you in next year's event, and for sure if you'll do videos in between.
Its my first year doing the speed runs and i have enjoyed it, as frustrating as it was sitting mid 40s trying to go faster. Much to learn thats for sure. Luckily I didnt have too much damage unlike others, some were horrendous!! Roll on next year! 😊
It certainly started getting ugly at the end. Everyone pushing harder and harder. That's what it's all about and not one walked any with less knowledge.
So many motors, maybe they can be saved, maybe.... Novak esc's, not so much.... I did have to repair a burned out strip on the board of an old Super Rooster many years ago (Clod Racing with 13 cells and 13 double Fantom Ti motors). Great job Paul but brushless isn't any cheaper but easier to get...
@UncleBobsRC Oh I don't mind paying for something that if I burn it up, I just buy another. It's these vintage motors that are going extinct that bums me out. I'll never see another new in package Orion Orbital 2 again. I am going to buy a micro lathe and try to repair these.
There was a lot of parts and components destroyed in the runs this year across the board! So much so that the F parts tree is next to impossible to find right now! I need to find one to get the wrecked one fully rebuilt. It is always fun to do these but it can be frustrating to get stuck or keep going through parts trying to get better! Your car was a straight shooter for sure! I am looking forward to next year and what slow kit we will have to beat on to make go fast! Great job with it all Paul!
Your crash was top of mind at the when I mentioned crashes. That's why I mentioned you and your closer. I seriously thought you were going to turn green and smash. It was that feeling I had looking at those motors, but I was mad at myself for missing something and causing it. I don't script anything or have a plan. I just turned on the camera and blab it all out.
@@Paul__FC It was frustrating and I was pretty angry but going into it I know there is the risk of epic failure from a crash or from a fire or even getting run over! So it was back to the drawing board and start over! I am 100% the same way, I rarely plan anything out, it shows many times but if I had to plan everything and script things there would be no fun in it and it would not be me. So I wing 90% of everything and the other 10% is vague planning or dumb luck, mostly dumb luck! LOL!!!
Great work Paul and well done for pushing Mark all the way bud! I got nowhere this year due to the rain here in the UK. Going to be better next year for sure
Sorry to hear of the destruction caused as a result of the speed challenge buddy.....these old electronics just dont like the power that high discharge lipos put out. I think a lot of people ended up well out of pocket this year ! You put up a good fight against the mighty mark, but it wasn't meant to be! Still a very impressive speed though Paul ,and at least your car didnt get run over ! 😅 (sorry Mark !!!) Been fun following along buddy.😊 👍 👍 👍
Weird how some people were hitting a "relatively low" hard deck while sporting theoretical fast motor. I really thought 50+ would be "easy". Still a mystery. Anyway, I'm 100% with you, next year, brushless, tired of melting impossible to find brushed motors 😅 That was a joy to watch your runs, with a car sporting a superb body 👌 Take care, Paul ✌🤝
It's the taking part that counts, ludicrous mode all Tamiyas are ridiculously under geared I've got an Astute which I can't get under 8.9:1 useless for a brushless motor
@TeamJunkYardDog Well, it's a learning curve. It seems the braided wire to the brushes on 2 motors seems to be cooked. Too tall gearing and too much juice tuned my motors into little space heaters.
@@Paul__FC We did that with our 8 turn last year. We tried to run it this year and got 47mph last year it pushed our tt02 to 69mph. I am suggesting a current production only rule for next year.
@TeamJunkYardDog I'm going brushless next year. I feel really bad about trashing that old gear. I floated an idea that would mitigate the issue, but I don't want to give it away and have someone beat Fil to the punch. With a solid start date next year, it will be easier to get a motor deal done.
@Paul__FC my flysky gyro with stock settings would cut the power to the motor when activated. I went into the settings and shut off the power decrease and it went faster. Maybe you have that settings?

Thank you very much! I'll have some track stuff to share. I most likely will not be in front of the camera. That part I don't like so much.
Awesome runs brother! The car looked awesome! To bad about the motors, can’t wait to do it again!🤜🤛
@Rcprescription You did excellent, too. I had a great time watching your video's. See you next time for sure!

@yodadarksideGreenHawksRC it was a good time!! Now, I can make time to winterize the boat and clean up the track.

Nice runs and congrats on your 44. Did you run a gyro?
@JoevsRc yep , 10% . It was in the spectrum receiver. Which meet it's end when the ESC went up in smoke.

@JoevsRc oh god, the transmitter has settings for it, and they were set to active.
