This was a fantastically honest video. It's so easy to get lost in the hype surrounding the next few months of Payday 3 content and forget that as of right now, we've still not had much content added... Can't wait for all of that to change this week! Hopefully, this video will serve as a wonderful time capsule for us to look back on in a few months, once the next few content drops have happened. 💙

Fingers crossed. If they can pull off the summer of Payday, I'll be thrilled to make the next check in video at the twelve month mark much more positive!

Was this recorded before the release of the BIB dev update video? Or maybe it doesn't fit in a retrospective because it's an update video about the future?
Did you see that video? It has me feeling especially optimistic.
The content shown so far in that video was amazing already, but especially what they said at the end interests me. The fact that we are getting the final 2 DLCs before September. We've waited for over half a year for BIB now. The draught was so painfully obvious, but with the advent of operation medic bag I've been enjoying the game a lot more. I've made about 5-6 friends whom I play regularly with, I have build strategies that are not just tanking armor, I don't feel inclined on abusing glitches to farm 150 completions on a heist I hate with a passion because of FOMO anymore, etc.
I personally believe that SBZ just really undercooked PD3, especially internally with the coding. Spaghetti code was rather rampant. A lot of effort was spent on bug fixing, which is something that is not very exciting for players. We want new content, but bug fixes are absolutely mandatory before new content can even be released. SBZ has finally started listening more, no more painful radio silence.
I guess a pessimistic perspective on land of the free and fear and greed being released 1 month after one another is that they might be rushed, but for me I interpret it as that the dawn is finally coming. Through project medic bag they're heavily improving the base game as it ought to be, and because many bugs have been fixed they can finally start producing content at a much quicker rate. I am genuinely so excited for this.
I just love payday so much. I want them to pull through so badly, and I sincerely believe that they will.

BIB and everything in the update look great. Unfortunately it didn't qualify for this video because it didn't make it in the first nine months, that was my hard cutoff for this. Part of me is sad and went "Oh, it looks like the soft-relaunch the game needs and I hope it works out!". The other part of me is thinking "Well, if the game wasn't in that state at launch and they followed their original roadmap we'd be on DLC three already". I'm excited for what BIB will be but I'm frustrated that there's so much pressure on it so late. I'm with you at the end though. I do believe the game is getting better and they'll 're on track to fixing it up

Seeing the very sane statement of "PD3 should have been a good and finished game at launch" immediately followed by a sentiment to the effect of "therefore Starbreeze, including the devs who don't make the big decisions and were probably victims of crunch in the months leading up to launch should all suffer, fail, and go bankrupt as karmic punishment" has been quite the online experience.
I've even seen a person in Steam community say that they won't buy the game until Starbreeze confirms it's fired AT LEAST 80% of its employees and replaced them. I'm not making this up.
Better never than late for some of these people, huh?

It's wild that so many people are out for blood. I don't get wanting people to have their actual lives made harder because they made a non-essential entertainment product that didn't live up to expectations. I've been hyper-critical of Payday 3 but my response was "Please fix the game" and not "please go out of business". I'm glad we're finally reaching the game-fixing part!

You should play Crime Boss: Rockay City instead.

A few members of RC tried it when it hit Steam this week. Those who tried were not huge fans

@@RustyChains Then the members of RC are wrong.
Currently the game is sold at 16 dollars with all previous DLCs included. Shitass error bundle for PAYDAY 3 is 18 dollars and it has one new heist and 3 weapons.
Crime Boss is a whole new game, with not only a working offline mode but a singleplayer campaign, where the AI teammates imitate actual player behavior as they ziptie civilians, subdue guards, loot bags and secure them , and the DLC campaign scenarios that are very good and high quality.
The story cutscenes aren't still images with blurred out faces and the story is interesting. Gunplay is just as good. In terms of value for your money, Crime Boss tops PAYDAY 3 tenfold. That's why PD3 numbers have dwindled since CB's launch.

@@doggiethepug i've played CB since it launched on epic and the AI behavior was a recent change. They didn't imitate player behavior on launch.
As for gameplay, the game is your typical roguelike game, the missions don't take nearly as long as they do in PD3 nor are they nearly as large scale. Sure you have some large scale heists like the jade dragons, but those are farther in the campaign.
CB is more strategy than it is casual like PayDay is. Is it a bad game? not at all, It is a fun game, but to say it tops PD3 tenfold is hard to say considering they play differently, and don't really share all that much in common other than "heist game" and fps.
Plus with the amount of celebrities in the game, the voice acting is terrible and overall super cringeworthy.

Starbreeze has failed to produce meaningful... anything in 9 months to add into PAYDAY 3.
The reintroduction of leveling up from heist completions should not be celebrated, it's the default from all previous payday games.
The adaptive armor is a band-aid fix to introduce an armor system that is not horrible, because it's closer to how PD2 and PDTH did armor. If they reintroduced an "experimental self-recovery nanite lining" that is 1 chunk and it regens after breaking without the need of an armor bag, everyone would be using it. That's how bad PD3 armor system was designed, it's not fun.
Summer Sale begins on June 27th, same as the update. The game will probably go on a notable discount to increase sales, because this update has been long awaited and they are making a big deal out of it too. So if Boys in Blue's launch if a success, and it causes an avalanche and the game begins to recieve consistent content updates, PAYDAY 3 might just come back to life, but they can't allow to slow down afterwards. If their statistics indicate that PAYDAY 3 is financially viable, then the game will be supported for more than the oblitagory 1.5 years after launch. Which is what all of us want.
If not, then support drops and service ends, but hopefully before that, they reintroduce offline and peer-to-peer matchmaking so that at least it can be played in the future without the need of SBZ servers or updates. Let's hope that's the worst case scenario, which, no, none of us want, even if we dislike the game and the fact Starbreeze after producing PAYDAY for 10 years couldn't learn how to make a new PAYDAY game that is good.
