great video and very useful information ! But you tend to speak louder at the start of a sentence / get quiter at the end. I think the listening experience could be greatly improved if you work a little bit on that
Funny that people think a case means no dust. Even with filtration it still gets dust. Now it just gets the worst type that is fine. I am done with closed cases.
There is an open air case called the xproto or something which is vertically arranged so it seems kinds spill proof. Honestly though no one should be foolish enough to put drinks on or below the desk whichever happens to have your pc. I have no pets and my pc is in the master closet. From what I have seen from other benchmarks open air has the potential to always be cooler however the mobo vrm temps do seem to suffer more which could be remedied by a small fan. Dust is easier to clean on an open air so that seems like a non issue to me and additionally when I get done gaming I always shutdown my pc and if I have a tower I cover it with a big black trashbag. Open air cases I would cover with a lintfree cloth when it isn’t running.
Good synopsis! Your point about the VRM temps is exactly what can go wrong with an open air case. Looking at actively cooled components like a GPU or CPU can certainly give a false sense of security about the system temps as a whole especially when overclocking! XD
I just tried the open side vs. closed while folding and I think it's gonna be dependent to the room temp. I'm in the bay area and now that it's almost november, it's starting to get cold. I'm getting 60-70 on my cpu when the side is open vs. closed which it reaches to 85 at most. Gpu get a small benefit as it's hovering to 58-61 vs. 65. If you're in a cold place, it's good for open. If you're in a warm place, it's better closed to blow out the warm air.
Basically, the GPU pumps out a crap load of HOT AIR into a CLOSED case which only feeds HOT AIR to your processors heat sink resulting in a higher temp on your processor. I game with my Dell XPS 8940 with the side panel removed. The hot air from my 1660 super flows out and away from my pc case instead of up against the panel where it would then fill my case with HOT AIR. HUGE difference with the side panel OFF. I would NEVER water cool my PC. Too many nightmare videos LOL

Use a open case and still run hot, try using closed with 7 fans and got high temps... remove fan and just use it open... dust get in anyway so open is just cooler and easy... if a put a vent blowing outside the open case get even better...

is there a way you can find out what condition your graphics card and CPU are in? As I got a second-hand pre-built i7 8700 and GTX 1060 6GB and 16 GB Ram. At idle they run between 30-40 degrees but I'm not sure what state they are in to be played with. For example, when running Fortnite at 144 FPS and above or GTA 5 or Warzone at 60-100 FPS. I don't know much about PCs and components but I'm learning and I want these components to last, I know they aren't that good and my graphics card is old but I don't really want to spend more on the system than I already have. So if anyone is reading this please help me on this matter, thanks.
I did notice how you talked at first and didn't like it too much but it's cool now great vid man I hope you start posting again you could be so big and help out so many people if you came back
Normal? Sure, but that's not great for long-term operations. Generally, under 80c is best. Try running it with your side panel off or open air. For reference, my old GTX 480 (a thermal beast) runs around there even with good air flow.
Instant sub! So im definitely in love with open air cases (thermalake) brand new to pc's overall. How much nosie do they make? What if i place it further away from my set up? Do you have a discord?
Hello again. - "How much nosie do they make?": Depends on the equipment, (fans, pumps, coil whine, etc.). - "What if i place it further away from my set up?": You can certainly try placing it further from your setup (ie your desk), though if I'm honest, part of the enjoyment of PC gaming vs PS4 (in your situation) is aesthetics; you get to customize and enjoy in plain sight exactly what you suits your fancy, you know? Though, I've certainly experimented with extensions and placed my PC tower in the next room when i was running a GTX 480, which were notoriously power hungry heat demons. - "Do you have a discord?" - I do not have an outward facing Discord, though it's a future possibility if I gain any significant traction through this channel. That being said, I'll do my darndest to reply to comments throughout. Thanks!
That's an interesting topic, which I do have an idea thought out for. Though, I do live in the Pacific Northwest, U.S. where it is currently our "rainy season", so it may be a little while before it dries out enough to cover the topic properly.
I guess it depends on if you need an enclosed area in which you can control the environment temp and cleanliness But if you as you said had an already clean cool environment to be in an open case is nearly as good as a closed one For me machine noise isnt an issue, i use headphones and well i work in a CNC lathe factory so its natural
@@BootUpwithBaysharp Sorry i do not intend to offend you.but i'm just a simple man ,don't have to much knowledge in computers, so i was looking for a simple answer because i feel my pc case is pretty hot...don't know if it helps to kip the case open..
@@francoseitan Look, it just depends on your case airflow. If you have cool air coming in and exhaust fans to blow the hot air out, then you'll be fine. But loads of things can change that outcome, from components in your build to your own environment around you. If you're that worried, just open up your PC case and blow a desk fan on your internals. Dust it out now and again and you're done. It'll provide far more cooling then any 12v case fan can.

You are right. An open air case has no airflow unless you blow a fan at it lol. While a decent case with proper airflow is key.
Airflow on an open case is dependant of convection. The difference in room temp and temp in the case helps hot air move away from the case
