Hi Jamie. Just watched this, and it brought back wonderful memories of the cruise I took back in 2016 with my dear sister(who sadly passed away 2 years ago. We loved our time on Queen Victoria. Thanks for the memories ❤
My favourite ship. Been on her 4 times but haven't as yet done the chart room or the verandah. Will give them both a try in January. Wonderful vlog. Thank you
@@TravelBlogJamie Thanks Jamie it’s our first cruise post Covid. We have cruised the QM2 a few years back but I can’t remember what’s the deal with wearing shorts in the Ido and Britannia restaurant during the day?

The promenade is my favorite place besides the golden lion and a pint !!! I just love walking around on The promenade watching the sky and the ocean I’m talking about going across the Atlantic . But I miss disagree with you about the lounge chairs I find them very comfortable and I’m really glad they have them I park myself there was a good book and I am incredibly happy. 🛳⛱😎
Made me smile when you said you’ve never known anyone to buy a painting/pic on board a ship. Let me introduce you to my mother in law who bought a painting on their last royal Caribbean cruise!
@@TravelBlogJamie Hey Jamie I’ve just booked that Istanbul to Rome cruise on the Queen Victoria!!! but it’s not til May 2024. Got it on 0 deposit because I had a cruise credit from 2 years ago… Wish it was this year! I’ll be doing all my research on the ship now.
I'm just off a cheap 4-nighter on QV, and loved the whole thing. Your review is excellent and captures the ship - although areas do look completely different in the evening, the grand lobby actually looks quite funky at night!
We had a lovely 2 weeks on Victoria. As first-time cruisers, it was a great overall experience and very good value for money. A good balcony cabin, excellent food, very good entertainment and also the insight lectures and theatre were very good particularly Midge Ure who was very entertaining and so humble. We had heavy weather, though, courtesy of the Baltic and North Sea. We did have one very dodgy moment, though when we were in the theatre, the ship lost all propulsion and power plunging us all into almost total darkness. The captain spoke on the PA system, but we never did get an explanation. The engines and power were out for about 10 minutes, and the ship started to roll a little as we broached onto the waves. It would have been good to get an explanation as I assume this isn't a regular occurrence! All in all, it was very enjoyable, and we will be going back for a second cruise albeit on Queen Mary, You were right about afternoon tea, simply sublime!!
@TravelBlogJamie it was rather strange. I shall ask around on one of the QV Facebook groups to see if anyone has any insight. I would imagine it's a high-profile issue at Cunard, to say the least. Thanks for the channel!
Thank you for embarking on this full ship tour. I hope you had as much fun commenting as we truly enjoy your humour (Carry On Cruising 😂). I laughed and smiled all the way through. On a serious note: Do you any additional exercises/training before your cruises? That is a ton of walking.
Hey Jamie! 2 of my friends have actually just disembarked from QM2, and are absolutely RAVING about Cunard. Really enjoyed this tour - QV looks stunning!
yeah I agree with you the lady who entered your box should’ve asked you first said, excuse me or sorry is anybody sitting with you? Because you could’ve been sitting with your family or a friend
Another great vid! Thanks. Although short, this was indeed a very enjoyable cruise. Your vlog serves as a great reminder of the voyage and highlights the luxury of a Cunard! Thanks once again for sharing. Alas, our next Cunard voyage is not until 2024. Any chance you could please pop onboard Queen Anne and produce another great memento for us? Might be a ‘savvy’ or two in it lol. Enjoy your upcoming ventures - looking forward to the vlogs! Best Wishes Martin
The QV is my second favorite ship, after the now-gone QE II. I mostly prefer transatlantic, so my next trip will be QM II (in December 2024) and Britannia Restaurant which will be a first for me, since I've always booked Queen's Grill in the past. The QV is a beautiful, classic ship. I crossed from Southampton to NYC in (as I recall) 2008 or 2009, and as it was winter and the ship wasn't full I was upgraded to a Queen's Grill 1 suite, the largest type of suite available, with living room, dining room, galley, bedroom, two bathrooms, and a giant walk-in closet. It was in the stern of Deck 8 and had a huge wraparound deck, not too useful in January but impressive. Now that cruising has become so popular I doubt that will ever happen again! All that being said, I must admit that Cunard's standards have declined markedly since Carnival bought them, which I expected. There are no more formal nights and cocktail-attire nights, which for me are the main reason for ship travel. The captain's parties for World Club members also seem to have disappeared, and Queen's Grill class passengers are no longer escorted to their suites at embarkation. Maybe for most people such things aren't an issue, but trust me, there are still a lot of us who enjoy that level of service and are willing to pay for it. Why can't they reinstate the formal and semi-formal dinners for Grills passengers, who have their own dining rooms?
Hi Jamie, never done an ocean cruise but love watching your videos. What is the title of the background music used in this video, please ? My Shazam app couldn’t distinguish it !
Oops, I was wrong about my QG1 stateroom and deck, I just checked the deck plans and it was Deck 7, the Berengaria Suite, #7271. Best accommodation ever! I forgot to mention the separate shower and the jetted tub.
Hi Jamie... really enjoying your vlogs... keep up the great work! Interested in your opinion on whether Cunard may be too 'stuffy' for my family and I? I get the impression from your videos, that we'd probably be OK, but curious about your views. We're a 50 year old couple with 17 yo daughter. Love Royal Caribbean and have enjoyed P&O Iona. We don't do formal at all, however smart casual is fine. Would we feel out of place? Thanks in advance
I think on a formal night the absolute vast majority on Cunard dress up and I would too. On P&O I don’t feel ‘out of place’ opting out and heading out and about as usual but I’d feel less comfortable on Cunard as it’s a loooong ole upheld tradition. But you don’t have to, of course! I’m happy to not have to wear a jacket anymore on smart casual eves on Cunard
@@TravelBlogJamie Thank you for the quick reply. That's useful to know. We don't want to close ourselves off from trying new things, but also want to be comfortable

Fantastic video. I’m looking forward to travelling on Queen Victoria in January, my first trip on Cunard! I’m glad that smart casual seems to be fine as I don’t particularly want to dress like a penguin 🐧
I really want to like these new Cunard ships but truthfully, they are tacky. The decor belongs in an American shopping mall. The outside, they look like apartment buildings on a hull. I know this kind of decor appeals to Americans, it's what they think luxury is, but still, it wouldn't take much to have truly designed a nice-looking ship. The new Queen Anne is even worse with its high forehead above the bridge ... it looks ridiculous.
I guess elegance and sophistication is not your thing. Cunard’s loss is Carnival’s gain 😅 I’m on the Queen Victoria for 12 days in November and can’t wait. Bring the ‘grey haired dullness’ on
This is the best tour around a ship I’ve watched. Love the fact you properly showed off the promenade deck, thank you.

My wife and I bought three Fabian Perez paintings from Whitewall Gallery on P&O Azura, so now you know someone who has bought art in a cruise ship.

We learned about the artist on two previous sailings on Azura so if we hadn’t been on those cruises we wouldn’t have even considered buying them.
