people will alway trust even if you need a few minutes to get the best shots..a shoot i did last week in LA didnt allow for me to scout prior to shooting so i would literally have the couple wait while i ran around looking for a spot to shoot.
Honestly, everyone is asking for camera settings more than I thought they would. Exposure is good and there's only one way to do that. Learn the fundamentals of shutter aperture and iso. Oh and shoot in raw. That's a big help. Nice video.
Doing my first engagement shoot in 3 hours. Sony A6000 50mm 1.8f Sony Prime Lens I have faith in my skills and time behind the camera, yet I'm still scared shitless. Ill let you know how it went haha!
I'm loving that you use Pinterest for reference, this has been my hack and I was feeling guilty about it, or weird if I asked my clients to replicate a pose. But I've found that most people dont know what to do and feel awkward, they LIKE when I direct them and have endless ideas and then I have sooo many options for them at the end of it.
I wouldn't bother. Once they learn about the exposure triangle, then they'll realize that settings are very dependent upon the situation of that location right at that exact moment in time.
Great video. I'm scheduled to do an engagement shoot soon and this was very helpful. I enjoy capturing moments as they just be themselves along with doing some posing.
My sister and her boyfriend just got engaged. Im going to college to be a photographer so today they asked me to do their engagement and wedding photos 😭❤️ it's my first time doing pictures that are this important and I'm terrified but so excited. This video was super helpful!
Hi. Im an wildlife photographer that got asked to do an engagement shoot for my sister. Super helpful video!! Thank you! What lens do you recommend. 35mm or 50mm? Im on a budget
Real talk... been shooting professionally for 5 years.. first time I came to a proposal shoot. Everyone asking for settings... if you don't know you're camera.. and that your settings are going to very, specially depending on time of day and how quickly the sun moves (if it's golden hour or Blue hour) ... you probably shouldn't shoot engagements. Just saying.... Great video by the way... Heading to a surprise engagement now!
This was very helpful! I’m about to take my first big thing, and they are my friend’s engagement photos and I’m glad I stumbled across this video! New subscriber for sure!
i always say with pets and kids you cant control much of how they act/pose so learning good positions and capturing moments more than posed images as well as getting good at photographing motion
Honestly, bro you legit deserve all the props, you seem super chill and good dude.. I'm starting a photo business on the side while workin a 40 hr day job and your videos keep me so motivated.
Hey love your videos, you are a great teacher. How do your presets work? I’m interested in purchasing but not sure what they entail or how it works. Help pls!
So stoked I discovered your channel. I've just started doing some weddings and I'm running into some serious walls, mainly with focus. I usually use my Sigma 35 1.4 and I'm often trying to get a shallow depth of field but obviously want the important part of the couple in focus... that's not happening for me. I've been under the impression that the further you get from the couple the more of them will be in focus at those shallow DOFs... am I making that up? I just can't seem to nail it and I don't want to lose the blurred background. Also curious about your thoughts on AF at those shallow depths. Even when standing 20 ft away and using the focus+recompose method, i'm ending up with all the wrong parts in focus...
Omar, Thanks for the great content! I found you through Sean Cannell and just wanted to introduce myself. I'm getting back into photography & now videography after a long hiatus. The thing I love the most about photography is capturing moments. Those moments that remind people of the stories and help them remember and relive those moments all over again. Looking at trying to start my own channel here soon, coming up with content & video ideas, so I will hit you up once that is ready. Also love hearing about people's journey in photo and video. Would love to see a video talking about how you got into photography and also another video on what resources have helped you in your journey. Thanks again for sharing and look forward to seeing more videos!
Not compromising is something I use all the time in lanscape and nightscape photography. I feel like my first half of a session is filled with useless shots, but I keep tweaking composition, or wait for different light, and then I find that the shots become what I had envisioned. So now, I pretty much just rip off a hanful of junk, just to get into the groove
You sir, are amazing. I loved this video and I cant wait for the next one. this helped me so much. Im apart of this Facebook group for photographers and the amount of work that goes into editing and photoshop was exhausting and made me feel frustrated. Your style is more of what I want to do....just raw emotion and perfect lighting right out of the camera. This was perfect and I think I may make a drink and watch all of your other videos. Lol....THANK YOU!!!!
Definitely a killer video man! I know a lot of people mentioned this, but the camera settings would be super helpful. Did you stick around f/2.0 for the most part? all of the 55mm? thanks man!
One of my biggest issues (& I feel SO stupid for) that I have had is having to re-edit photos. I will edit through my computer and then I have to literally send them to my phone to do my "safety check" so I can make sure the quality/image is remotely the same on the different screens. I've read that the only thing you can do is literally buy a super expensive color calibration type of thing, but I feel like there has to be an easier way. Do you have any other life hacks for this? By the way, you're awesome. Super humble and encouraging. I feel like you need to be my life coach. Thanks !
If you're colors are incredibly off then I'd check if you're working on RGB OR SRGB mode in photoshop/lightroom. If the majority of your work will be going online then work in SRGB mode.
@@PunkImagin8tionX i actually have recently figured that out as well! But it's more like the saturation and hue of the colors are over exaggerated on a cell phone than a laptop. So I'll edit to exactly what I want it and I love it, then sometimes I have to re-edit to view it properly through a cell phone screen. What I've been doing now is just guesstimating on my PC and turning the saturation & vibrance 10-15 below what i want it to get something accurate across all the devices
I had that problem with my laptop, I would love the picture on my computer and as soon as it was on my phone it was way too much of something or super underexposed. I just got a new computer and it's so much better. I wish I had found something to fix it.
yes, however, its a bit tight - really great for portrait photos of a person - BUT you can just step further back to get a little wider. especially outdoors - you may find a challenge shooting more than one person indoors but that lens is one to keep in your kit forever
legit only lens i use lol - on occasion when necessary I'll rent an 85 or 70-200 but havent felt the need to own another..that 55 is the sharpest lens ever!
Wow, very good video. Thank you. Question for you: I noticed that you use the live view screen to shoot when you get a bit lower. Is that just because you don't like to squat or does it have to do with the light coming into the camera and affecting your ability to see the subject? I rarely use it so I am curious. Thanks
I have a photoshoot coming up with a family of 6, in addition to some extended family (a total of 10 people) next week. I am grateful to for the opportunity to book this shoot but I am beyond nervous! Any tips on how you've been able to get through feeling anxious (if feeling anxious at all) right before a shoot? A Q&A video in the future would be awesome! :-D
1. you've been asked for a reason. you have the skills 2. Create a check list -- whole group photo / individual families / mom & dad / kids / cousins / grandparents / grandparents and grand children / etc. also ask them for groups they would like shout together 3. Getting a location with enough space to make each family look somewhat different with the backgrounds (if not don't stress that much) 4. Shoot then move on to the next group 5. Shoot me an email - I'll to you a family shoot i recently did that was pretty big so you can get an idea
Hey! I’m having issues when taking photos while I’m having to wear my glasses... often times the photos look great on camera but once I start editing a lot of them are out of focus and are not as clearly as I’d like for them to be. Any suggestions??
Hey Jenna, 2 things - i would suggest shooting without your glasses and there should be a wheel next to your viewfinder that can adjust to your vision (as if you were wearing glasses) OR step into the world of sony where the screen and viewfinder are digital so you never need to actually use the viewfinder, just the screen itself!
Not long found your channel, love your work... I love how the photos look, would love to see an edit with me video to achieve similar look & feel... I love the warmth what are some key tips you can share to obtain this, newbie to editing here 🙏
Lightroom is the program you want to learn - you can buy my presets to achieve this look or you can look around the internets for some you like and use adobe lightroom to apply them onto your photos

I’m curious how did the photo shoot go ?
Man I am going way too fast. I think i need to chill out and look around and use what is around me for textures and angles. Loved this!

Should put the camera settings of the photo on the photo. People like that.
thanks woody // i'll forsure begin too do that!

Were you shooting in manual or auto? Did you ever use sports mode? Or just keep your shutter speed high and use landscape mode or portrait mode?
Really found this helpful. The only thing I would have liked more would have been the camera settings on each photo for a reference! Thank you
I got you on the next! Thank you for watching!
Bro really like videos and all tips is very important and very very helpful thank you.
What tips do you have for photographing a shoot with pets involved ie: engagement & family
i always say with pets and kids you cant control much of how they act/pose so learning good positions and capturing moments more than posed images as well as getting good at photographing motion
Thanks for sharing!!

I’m curious on what lens are usually your go to for shoots like this
I too have the same question, I see the 35mm listed in the video description. What other lens did you use
Definitely a killer video man! I know a lot of people mentioned this, but the camera settings would be super helpful. Did you stick around f/2.0 for the most part? all of the 55mm? thanks man!
yea, started to do that after this video. But yea im usually anywhere from 2.0-3.2
Do you focus on one person eyes when shooting couples? Or on their face?
BRUH. Thank you so much!!
Great video, and fire pictures, appreciate the tips

You may struggle with perfection, which is okay but as you get more jobs, edit more photos you gotta just call it done and move on!
