    Thank you so much bhaiya for making us gareeb people aware about such issues. I become SO ENRAGED whenever USA or any other European country takes credit for anything that any Asian country does first. 60-70% articles that I read on Google all said that it was NASA who discovered water first on moon LCROSS in 2009, completely ignoring Chandrayan 1. Then there is also Veritasium who, in his video about water on moon, just said "scientists had found water on moon" instead of actually crediting the people who actually did, while people would have been blaring their achievements out loud if any Western country had actually done it.

    One small correction , QMS Analyzes Mass to charge ratio not the mass . For example if N2 gas is present it might get single or doubly charged(less likely). So we would notice current at 28 and 14 both with 28 being much more prominent.
    Also it is very common to see water vapour unless the system has been "flushed" properly . Not sure about space but that has been my observation while working on it .

More than who discovered what first, the most important thing is the Moon Treaty and the exploitation of moon's resources by nations and private enterprises. So, Chandrayan-x and other space projects are important for not only India but for all hunanity, to save it from expansionist regimes .

    @gareebscientist I have a question bothering me for a long time: Regarding the fuel required for probes for return journey from moon back to the orbiter. I was looking at a video of china 'change5 probe which collected soil samples and fired it's rocket to go up to the orbiter. Now my question is, how much fuel is required for a flight from moons surface to go up tull orbiter? It looks very less, since we don't see anything as big as what we see in rockets going from earth's surface, like say solid stage, liquid stage and cryo stage. Yes, I am aware, there is no atmosphere in moon, hence no air resistance and also moons gravity is 1/6th of earth. Are these two factors alone contribute to so less fuel? Can you please help me with your understanding? Thanks very much, Sampath

    • @GareebScientist
      @GareebScientist  Рік тому

      Complicated question,
      Even throwing a rock on the moon means it will fall far away due to low gravity
      But then when we say orbit you need horizontal velocity as well. But moon orbital velocity might be low. Then you escape it slightly hit thr earth's atmosphere then atmosphere does the rest of deceleration

    Unfortunately today such ground-breaking scientific achievements have become a source of hegemony. What if both the data from M3 and CHACE were combined to provide super robust evidence and the credits could have been shared. One such fundamental discovery in materials science was line defects called "dislocations" which was independently found by GI Taylor and E Orowan with M Polanyi in 1934 and today all 3 are given credit for that.

    • @TheChinmaya1

      That will slow down the ionized molecules movement and fragment them. Moreover, carrying argon and nitrogen gases add up to extra space and weight in the module.

    Considering that this is a channel with the motto "Gyaan ki gareebi sabse badi", I want to put science ahead of national pride. The 3 objections are valid, IMO.
    For context, let us consider how rigourously one of NASA's own experiments on Mars to detect the signs of life (conducted in the 70s by the Viking mission) was treated. It was called the Labelled Release experiment and used an apparatus designed and perfected by Gilbert V Levin using a Radioisotopic Biochemical Probe too look for Extraterrestrial Life on Mars, specifically local Mars bacteria of any kind. It is a very interesting topic. And GV Levin died recently, confidently claiming that he had indeed succeeded finding evidence of self-replicating entities on Mars that mirrored the behaviour of bacteria here on Earth, tested in all kinds Earth environments / biospheres / ecosystems and with various types of bacteria including extremophiles. See this video series: ua-cam.com/video/jqiq3iCUAhM/v-deo.html and use Google to find the actual papers or to understand the now-popular method of radioisotopic detection of bacteria invented by GV Levin. He's no pushover in this field, he's considered an expert, he invented the method we use every day.
    Coming back to Mars, later discoveries have hinted that the objections raised at the time of the Viking mission results are now invalidated and errors in the other experiments (which concluded that there was no life on Mars) are now accepted to be true. However, since the Labelled Release experiments results were vehemently objected to, upto 40 different problems were publicised, of which only a few remained by the end of peer review, the damage to that experiment's reputation was done. Subsequent analyses show that the GV Levin LR Experiments could have been correct, but there is no further independent evidence of the same as the experiment has not been refined and repeated thereafter.
    My point in highlighting this is that astronomers and exobiologists face and raise all kinds of incisive as well as pointless objections all the time because the principle in science is to be totally, very, damned, inarguably, undeniably sure that you are correct, when making big or bold claims.
    Extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence. If we give up this habit whether out of laziness or out of national pride, we are not good scientists. Because you don't want to go down in history as the fool who did not check for X, Y or Z when it was possible to check it. As it is people who get it wrong based on 100% honest efforts are called ignorant 100 years later because new science totally invalidated the old theory.
    If we're seeking credit, then we are not doing science. We should seek the truth. And national pride should not mess up science, whether by Dr. GV Levin in the 70s or by ISRO in the 2000s. In science, which is literally a field of "Satyamev Jayate" it is better to be seen as diligent and honest than credit-seeking. All the same I am very proud that ISRO does these fantastic things regularly, without fail, despite being denied so much that NASA, ESA, Roscosmos are allowed. That's a place outside science, it is in management and there, pride is fine and justified.
