When we moved from Chicago in the 70s this was the place to be. Loved taking the bus free from downtown to the mall with friends or by myself i always had fun. Smacks had the best burgers. Thank you for this video
Oh God!! My mom and I used to go there with relatives!! There are some photos. I remember I tasted blue jello there, and I loved it! So many memories...
I remember this mall. My grandma used to take me here whenever it was too hot. We'd snake our way through the trains. Stay here all day. We lived right across the tracks.
Thank you for posting. My dad would take us every Saturday, to Amigoland mall. As we were from Harlingen, we always ate at Smaks burgers. It was a beautiful mall. Got teared up, knowing how many beautiful Saturdays the whole family spent there.
Good memories from weekends in the mid 70’s 😎 incredible how things change from a vibrant first indoor mall in Brownsville created by the Carnesi Family to what it is now😔
So sad. My best memories as a kid was at Amigoland Mall when I go with my Mom and my little sister at 80’s and 90’s. I still remember the last time I visited on January 2000. I’m from Matamoros Mexico and all the time we used to go to Walmart and Amigoland Mall.
We shopped there all the time before Sunrise Mall opened. In the late 70s a group of us from Central Junior High would walk there for lunch now and then. Ah, some great memories.
If the mall could speak and share its memories with us, it would speak to us these sounds. I hear life in these sounds. I hear the experience of love , laughter and tears.
Wow❤️ my mom used to buy us shoes at thom Mcann. Some really good times with friends and family. My mom’s favorite was furrs cafeteria as you walked in the front. I haven’t been back since the summer of 1993. Thank you for making this, brings back sweet memories of my lovely mother ❤️
I love the mall me and my family and friends go here so many times when we spend time together with friends and family Matters to us and we are going to the sun rise mall now tx
I somewhat remember this mall as a kid.. And for some reason.. I catch myself hanging around here and enjoying it.. Even though its mostly somewhat empty..
I remember this mall so well, before they closed down, they were renting several locations inside the mall at super low price. Mostly because nobody went anymore. Anyways, I remember my mom opened up a small candy shop there for a few months before the mall finally closed down for good.
I used to go with my mom, and some relatives. I am from Tamaulipas and have relatives in Matamoros, I have a lot of fond memories of Amigoland mall, and got sad when I learned that it closed down. I would like to know details ¿Why people stopped goin' there?
@@gabrielamarcus Most of the people went to Amigoland just for JCPenney and Dillards, after those two were relocated to Sunrise mall in 1999, the people stop going there
At 2:20...There is a gentleman that looks like PHILLIP R. TURNER from Brownsville.....He is working as a security for BISD that last time I heard...Just an observation...
