Same. I’m ancient and incandescent with rage. I refuse to let these monsters drag us back to the dark ages.
Remember that many of these are the same states that won’t allow clear teaching about birth control either. Or handing out condoms in schools. They say that it is the parents’ rights to shield their children from that information. The very information that might have kept her from getting pregnant even if she was choosing to be sexually active. There is also few, if any, repercussions for the boys. I am certain that if men got pregnant and had to care for a child on their own, these laws would be very different.
She was raped in her yard...by a stranger, an adult man tho.

I do not wish to be argumentive, just stating my personal opinion that all life is precious. I wish you well.
13 is a bit old to be in 7th grade. Was she in special ed or left back? I was ten years old in 7th grade.
I remember my hometown finally building a middle school because the school board couldn't afford so many home tutors for teen moms (if you were pregnant in public school, you were banned from attending school and were required to be tutored from home, no matter if you were showing or not). Parents would be told to forbid their kids from speaking to the teen mom, lest their child be considered "whorey." That’s how the principal worded it.
My mom was one of those tutors and she had zero issues in telling these girls and their parents that they ruined their lives. Years later one of them reached out to my mom, thanking her for her honesty, that she gave the baby up for adoption, and now she was having a "real" baby. That phrase always struck me as odd.
You know what else is weird? Your thinking and your mother's behavior. My goodness! You actually shared that little anecdote, proudly?
This is what you're focused on, on a story about a 12-year-old victim of r-word? What grade she's in relative to her age!
To answer your ridiculous question: You're 12-13 in 7th grade. She was actually 12, in the 6th grade when this happened to her-- going to the 7th, after having the baby. She has a late birthday but retention in that area is PREVALENT and academic performance is based on how teachers feel about you (and any extension of you) vs actual academic ability, so questioning her intelligence is terribly misguided. You're wondering if she's in sped, but there's a strong possibility they don't have a sped program, as you may know it. They just retain--no testing, no data, just whatever they feel.
Also, how unfortunate that your mother was trusted with girls in such a vulnerable state, and she chose to inflict such negativity on them, as if their entire communities and society as a whole, weren't already inflicting such shame and pain.
Even when pregnancies are the result of consent, what's the point of shaming? Teenagers have been having babies since the beginning of time, why are we still shaming GIRLS? No, it's not ideal, but shameful? Is the shameful part having inter course? Surely, your mother knew that more teenagers engaging in it, than having babies-- she would have been very busy trying to catch every teenager, doing the horizontal polka! Did she condemn the fathers of the babies too, or no? Geez, that's just...gross!

Elitist mindset. You have no idea how poor that area is, making a comment like that. This happened in Clarksdale, MS. This pregnancy was the result of r*pe and the law still wouldn't allow it. 3 months old account of a low-tier troll? You must be really proud. 🎉

I must say, though, I have seen sign language translators who use their hands less... made me dizzy and subtracted from what you were trying to present
Don’t believe it. Who is it
Imagine having to give private medical data of a minor to appease the false accusations of online trolls.
