    Good job showing the positives of the new digital systems. Now we need one on the negatives. There are numerous videos showing the horrible things that can go wrong when a system mis-behaves or is mis-used. Pilots become busy trying to trouble shoot the systems rather than flying the airplane the old fashioned way. And even if they do revert to manually flying the plane they experience an unfamiliar situation and abnormal work load.

    Really good content! I couldn't help but think of Concorde multiple times throughout the video, as it surely must be one of the most advanced analogue electromechanical planes ever built, and had quite a few logic systems governing automatic functions, without any digitisation. A video on that with a similar format to this would be brilliant.

      @@FlyByMax I hear the Colimata is not exactly amazing when it comes to in-depth. though v2 is miles better than v1. The 32 bit FSLabs for FSX/P3Dv3 is no longer for sale but is the OG high fidelity study sim, I'll give you my serial if you're interested in that platform at all. You'd have to downgrade nVidia drivers etc, but it's doable. The 64 bit version is in development, and previews are apparently coming soon.

    Yet another great video of yours! The enthusiasm you put into these videos is amazing, as I myself find this topic to be very interesting. For example the fact that even though having modern EFIS screens, Manufacturers still tend to use round dials for Engine instrumentations with coloured ares as in many cases not the actual value is important but the fact if this value fits into a certain range or not. Yet for an Airspeed indicator for example a tape with a big and prominent number is found to be most efficient. These concepts and ideas are what amaze me about aviation so much, as engineers have thought through every single bit of these huge machines to ensure safe and efficient operations.

      Very good point about the round engine dials, I hadn't thought about that before! It's so cool that we share the same passion for these ideas, and thank you so much for stopping by again :) working on the next one as we speak!

    I've never had the pleasure of flying in a glass cockpit for real, about as close as I get is an avidyne GPS, but playing with the G1000 in flight sim just feels like I've enabled cheat mode. Especially when you have things like synthetic vision, etc.

    Once again you hit it out of the ballpark! I am a fan of history in general and more-specifically many aspects of aviation. You briefly touched upon navigation in terms of how the FMS allows pilots to maintain graphic situational awareness. Have you considered creating a video on the history of navigation - how we started by the stars, dead reckoning, NDBs, then VORs, CIVA/OMEGA (INS systems could almost be their own video) and then the evolution into what we have today? Cheers!

    • @FlyByMax
      @FlyByMax  2 роки тому +1

      Thank you! Reading this comment was a funny experience for me, because I've been contemplating a series that would follow EXACTLY what you've just outlined (literally starting with the stars + dead reckoning).
      With the CL650 I can now also show how the gyroscopes are feeding the INS and what the accelerometers are measuring, which is something I've never been able to do before.
      Not exactly sure if it will be the next video, but at some point your idea will definitely come to fruition on this channel :)
      Have a good one!

    Nice video. Best cockpit is hybrid cockpit. Analog instruments make good backup in case of software errors and computer malfunctions.
    Why is there a trend for completely removing analog instruments from a cockpit?

    • @dinky9216
      @dinky9216 Рік тому

      A few reasons. Digital involves less wiring and power and thus less weight. It is also easier to have redundancy and error correction and therefore can be more reliable. Modern aircraft have more parameters to monitor. So to have less trustworthy analogue as well would create a very cluttered cockpit that is difficult to scan at moments of high workload. You'd end up with a confusing archaic mess like the 737Max.
