@@mjh8237 I don't remember it from an interview... More like an off the cuff before performing it on stage here and there in random fan videos from the shows.
This Pentatonix video is one of my all-time favorites. It's on my daily UA-cam playlist. Thanks for the reaction and for the reupload. FUN FACT: The original artist, Cosmo Sheldrake, posted a lovely comment in the Comments section of the Pentatonix video thanking them for covering his song. He is such a talented sweetheart.
When PTX chooses to cover a song, they invariably do an upgrade, but never more so (in my opinion) than with this one. Cosmo's original has brilliant lyrics, but his actual music is ... weirdly grim. It starts out with about 40 seconds of some really bombastic percussion and the song itself is paced about a third slower than PTX performs it. The video is a little like watching a scrolling petroglyph of fish eating littler fish. I would have loved to watch the PTX discussion of how to arrange it. They kept the words and the basic tune, but it's so utterly different in "feel" it's like a totally different song.
I think my favourite creamy Matt moment is in When the Party's Over. Sometimes I rewind it, because it's so lovely. Kevin is doing a very high tenor "oo" sound over it while the trio is doing "dadada" and basically letting Matt shine.
you are so funny, Saucey Dad. you got hit with a stealth pitch slap, but then you rewound so that you can get the full effect. Loved it! I laughed so hard, I had to pause the video to write this comment.
This is one of my favorites. In concert (which Ive seen on you tube, I've never been to one) Mitch introduces this song by asking if there are any choir nerds in the audience and proceeds to say they are all choir nerds too. He says the next song is a very choral song and he still has no idea what it means but it's so much fun to sing. They do a very cute marching dance to a background like looks very similar to the smurfs with red and white polka dotted marshmellows. I'll edit the link in here in case that peaks your interest. ua-cam.com/video/bRcMmu58z2k/v-deo.html So you aren't confused this person starts their videos by giving you a preview in black and white.
Such an uplifting song! They made it really peppy! The original is by Shelldrake Cosmo. It is quite...different. I would suggest going to his UA-cam channel and listening to how PTX made it their own. Thank you for this fun reaction!
Your story about your daughter trying to get you in trouble is so funny. It's awesome when couples respect each other enough to know their partner can appreciate someone as being good-looking without desiring that person.
And yes, Cosmo Sheldrake is the original artist's legal name given by his parents. I believe his father is a parapsychologist, his mother is a musician, and a sibling is a marine biologist. He combines all three influences in his music that uses environmental and tech sounds. Very weird, by mainstream standards, but I like it.
Yay! So glad you finally got to this one. I play this song on repeat often. It makes me smile, tap my toes to the beat and pick up the speed of whatever chore I am doing at the time. This is pure FUN to both watch and listen to and yes, love the bold colors. ♥️💛💙💚💜
Who else is here for Matt's "Ahmmm"!? ❤️ I love this song and video so much. I watch it several times a week, it's the best "pick-me-up" song, and always makes me smile. Great reaction! Thank you! ❤️
Hello Saucey Dad...YES, YES, YES !! Thank you for re-posting this so quickly. This song makes me so happy. This is one of my go-to PTX happy-mood songs. The bright colours. The impeccable wardrobe. The fashion and style on all five of them! The beautiful voices. Just perfect. Scott so groovy with that soul to start. Kirstie so on-point with sweet vocals. Kevin driving that beat. Matt so deep and warm. Mitch singing so calmly at the beginning, then taking off like a jet into the stratosphere, then coming back down to a lullaby at the end. I wished I could have warned you to get Slappy for that journey to the stratosphere with Mitch. I love this video so much -- PTX only needs to say "Come Along" just once and I will walk behind them on a ten mile dirt road listening to them sing all. This is a cover - no, actually this is definitely an upgrade. Well done to Stacey for requesting this one. Your reaction will have be laughing well into tomorrow.
I love this one too! I have a passion for nonsense songs and stories, and this is a gem. I mean, ‘tie armbands to your feet’? Kudos to Cosmo Sheldrake for this gem.
Matt and Mitch kill it in this video…I guess they all do but Matt and Mitch stand out 😊💕🎶 I will say that Kevin constantly amazes me with his beatboxing, which I’m sure is a lot more difficult than he makes it seem 🤣 Kirstie and Scott on point per usual
yes! so glad you were able to reupload quickly though I'm sad it was blocked so soon after upload. this is one of my favorites, so upbeat and fun and showcases everyone's talents so beautifully! ❤️
I love your reactions and how you watched the end of the video so suspiciously waiting to be slapped again - very funny. I love this video. Glad you finally got to it.
LOVE LOVE LOVE this one! They ALL shine! Love the color and energy, too. Not to mention that everything is better with “Mullet Mitch” 😊…So glad that Stacy requested it! You are such a super dad and hubbie, SD ❤
This is one of my favourites. So theatrical!! And they are all killing it. And stunning ofc. Love the story about your daughter. Gotta love a couple that don't have to pretend that other people are not pretty, haha!
Love everything this one. One of my PTX go to for a smile and a pick me up. Nick by now you should always be ready for a Mitch slap😂. Slappy should always be in reach during a Mitch and PTX reaction.
Are we ever ready for a PTX video? Their version is so different from the original that it might as well be an original. The stealth slap is great and that slap makes things a little tense at the end. Don't know what genre this song would fall into...eclectic, eccentric, fun? Are those genres? Many people say it has Disney vibes, I agree... Saw a comment one time for this video. Someone asked PTX what color scheme they wanted for this video and PTX just said yes.
One of my favs, so bouncy and colorful! Kevin is a beast here and Matt with his "a hmmm's", amazing 😄and come on, Saucey, you should have known not to put Slappy too far away from you, right? Great reaction as usual and your story about your youngest daughter was really cute 😁
Where’s Slappy when you need him? This song takes some of its strange vocabulary from the Lewis Carroll poem, Jabberwocky. Recommend their original song, Happy Now.
My favourite theory about this song is that it's fairies trying to get you to go with them. Not the nice kind. The ones that offer you food and drink and if you eat it, you'll spend the next seven years in their underground lair. I did notice the visuals Pentatonix use in their live shows were sort of trippy, like you're on hallucinogenics or something. I don't know what kind of filter they used in the official video, but it gives it a nice, unreal feeling along with the bright coloured clothes. I have recommended Come along to my friends for treating doom scrolling induced despair.
ua-cam.com/video/bIyl9bCp6W4/v-deo.html This is the original if you're interested. I love this song, it's whimsical and upbeat, referring to AA Milne (Happy-go-lucky, Heffalump, whimsical), and Lewis Carroll (a bit twisted and creepy, whimsical) with just a dash of Tim Burton. It leans in to the dark side a little bit, talking about how the end is nigh, and hesitant skeletons, etc., making it sort of acid-trip apocalyptic, and ends on a sort of fiddle-dee-dee classical trill. Watch what they do with it live in concert! You'll dig it.
It's a cover. They asked Mitch in an interview what it was about and he said he had no idea but it was fun to sing!
Oo which interview? I’ve not seen that.

I always turn to this when I need a short, sharp, cheerful lift. It's so underrated.
The last few bars with the classical staccato bits and choral chords is one of my very favorite bits in all of their songs.
Besides being a snappy, upbeat tune…the obvious fun they’re having, makes it one of my absolute favorites!!!
This is such an underrated song...and I love me some mullet Mitch! And it's a cover.
Love this one! So happy, so upbeat, so colourful, so PTX! And Mitch at the end with the La Dah Dah's so pure.
