I had an interesting visual effect happen when attempting to do green kasina meditation that I now use as neurofeedback. I started out staring at a blade of grass and focused on the green color. After just a few minutes the whole yard seemed to be filled in with the clump of grass that was around the blade I was focused on ; it was like using the clone tool in photoshop. The tiling would shift from small/many tiles to larger/fewer tiles. I thought that trying to maintain the tighter pattern would be a way to exercise my attention since it would provide visual feedback. At the same time, I would still try to think about the color green and imagine a wall of green in front of me. After doing a few sessions, another effect started happening. The grass would go turn more yellow and then kind of dim/gray, then it would start to glow white. This occurs in cycles. After about 10 minutes, it stops happening and I'm back to only the 'clone tool' effect. I guess there's some neurotransmitter that gets depleted at that point.
that's an after image - totally normal - see en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Afterimage. Went to a Rosicrucians thing once where they used this to try to get people to believed they could see auras - I was too boring to be taken in sadly.
At our clinic since 1997 we have been using full neurofeedback training, which is not a wearable. We have found that HRV home training to be very helpful to our clients. We now ask clients at home to use the Heart Math Innerbalance, which can be used with the app inner balance on the phone, clipped to the ear. The feedback is the breathing pacer goes green when good HRV coherence is reached. Also the EMwave, with the thumb, has been around for 20 years. For golf you may find the old youtubes teaching EMwave HRV to medium golfers interesting. Lots of literature showing learning to go green (high coherence) and then using it when you go to hit the ball (there is an ear clip) leads to 20% improvements overall. Thank you for talking about the pulseto, didnt know it was around. As you will know they are looking into blocking injections into the stellate ganglion block. Seems to me stimulating this has promise.
Hi Dr. Cody, thank you for your presentations, I am a psychotherapist specializing in Psycho Spiritual integration of Awakening experiences. Do you know of any VR with biofeedback that can control the Audio Visual Entrainment to move the brain in to various states such as Alpha (8 to 10 Hz) Beta (12 to 40 Hz)Delta (1 to 4 Hz)Theta (4 to 7 Hz) Gamma (40 to 70 Hz) Sort of like the Kasina Light & Sound DeepVision™with Ganzfeld Frames, or David's Delight Pro but with VR and Biofeedback, were the biofeedback controls the patterns and the speed and colors of the flashing lights, creating a journey through the different mind states so that one can recognize when one is in theta, or alpha, or delta state, for example? Thank you :)
As someone who is a very consistent and long term meditator I have a muse device and although I have thousands of hours meditating with the muse device it definitely isn’t very accurate with some of the deeper meditation experiences. The brainwaves science is fun and interesting but as you dive deeper into meditation the very act of trying to track it keeps my brain distracted haha 😆. The power of non attachment and letting go of the world in meditation definitely helps. I still use the headband for at least 30 minutes a day but I truly like no devices for real peace. I do think in terms of teaching people about triggers and anxiety and such it’s good to see what that looks like on paper but also definitely not necessary for healing and meditation.
I bought a few different headbands based off your reviews (I believe it was the muse and the mendi) - tbh the changes were very minor. I meditate regularly - you dont need the muse, and the one where you focus your mind for the ball was definitely placebo. You overhype things brother.

Thank you Dr Cody. Good Overview. Glad that I already own a lot from your list. Pulsetto really stands out because is is the only neurostimulation device - and I can tell you it works.

It’s so exciting 🎉 what a fabulous summary- your enthusiasm is infectious 😮I’m so completely gadget obsessed- what are your thoughts on BrainTap ? It would be amazing to have full immersion experiences available for home use - I’m still waiting for the Opus soundbed to be delivered - how cool would it be to stack fully immersive neuro sensory experiences and hypnosis to help recover from trauma and of course for productivity and brain 🧠 health ❤
Hahah sounds like you would be stacking quite a few experiences! Thanks for watching. I would be more interested in BrainTap if they incorporated some measurement (EEG or fNIRS) into their hardware. Otherwise it is fun to use.
Do you know of any brain devices with which I can control electronic devices, such as a small motor, Raspberry Pi, Arduino or some other single board computer?
I said quite a bit about PEMF in 2023 so decided to give it a rest for a year. Not too much new on the horizon yet for updates. I'm sure I'm missing something out there, so that could change.
Can any of these devices act as EEG? I'm interested in measuring brain waves during meditaion to be able to tell how much time I was actually in alpha state and how much in other states.
Which headband is good for measuring the brain activity during mediation especially If I want to check which state it is in (beta, alpha, tetam detla) during mediation.
Hey Cody, how good is the sensai device? Like can it replace in-clinic neurofeedback or is it just the best at home alternative available? How good is it compared to myndlift?
Hey Cody, I just purchased a used Muse S gen 2 headband for 130 dollars thanks to your videos. I have a question: Is it true that training too much alpha waves as one does with the Muse relaxation exercises can be bad for you and slow you down too much if you dont also train other brain waves? I have adhd btw.
Hey Cody... love your channel. I would like to know on the above as well... Is there any way for retail purcharses to acquire a Dreem 3? I had a Dreem 2 and absolutely loved it, but a tiny piece of the strap came apart and rendered it not usable. I have emailed Dreem at least 6 or 7 times and not had any reply, which i found super disappointing, as the main body of the headband is still working perfectly. Also, I have not found out that the Dreem 2 no longer works with the app. I would absolutely love to buy a Dreem 3 so if anyone knows how you can get one, please let me know,...
@CodyRallMD Thank you, Dr. Rall. They claim that the heart controls the brain, which counter to popular belief that it's the brain that control the heart via the vagus nerves!
Hi, I see that the devices are more convenient to use for different applications. I am considering getting a Neurosity Crown. In theory it sounds like I could replicate functionality of the Muse and Mendi devices. Or is there something the Muse or Mendi can measure which the Crown cannot? The Crown has way more sensors but Muse and Mendi have the sensors in the front. Is there a difference in the data I can get from the devices? Sorry, I just saw your video today and didn't know these devices exist before... Great videos!
Love my Pulsetto, Muse-S and Neorythm. My Woop never arrived, so hope it's useful when it finally arrives. I prefer my Garmin Fenix 7X and HRM fitness wise.
Would prefer to chat if you have time. I just don’t like being on the phone all the time, going back-and-forth reading and listening to videos. It looks as though you’ve experienced enough of these devices, perhaps we could have a conversation?
Great video! I'm looking for the right solution to track self guided meditation sessions - I don't want guided recordings or games to follow. Will muse allow this? Or does anyone have any other advice for this use case? 🙏
What's the best brain device in your opinion specifically for improving concentration/focus and executive function (working memory, set shifting, etc.)? I'm thinking Muse + Myndlift ? but not exactly sure. Maybe FocusCalm? Thanks for any info
Fascinating collection of devices commented on but while it interesting to see what is "liked" the absence of any actual data in this review reduces it's utility. Objective data could either reflect the accuracy of what these devices are measuring or documenting the outcomes of use.
Can you please explain more about what the quarterback is using. He i using Muse S band, but what about the other cable that is connected to the Muse S band? Is that something you get when you join the program with a myndlift coach?
Which device will help best with clarity and decision making when too many options lead creative minds paralyzed to make decisions with confidence to take action.
The Neurable headphones coming out next month will help you keep focus for longer. No devices yet for actually improving memory. I recommend checking out the book "Moonwalking with Einstein" by Joshua Foer.
Since I was in my early 20s, I have had huge problems with reading. Instead of doing it automatically, I am extremely aware of it while reading, and often has to read the same sentence several times before I'm able to move on. Some people say that when they read, they get lost in the book,, and suddenly several hours have passed. I used to be like that too. Now I am very aware of where I am all the time if I try to read. Do you know what kind of brain device that could possibly be of any help for a situation like that?
Great videos! Any suggestions for a regular meditator who uses Dr. Joe Dispenza meditations regularly and simply want to track the brain waves in live time to get a feedback on brain activity during meditation? What would you suggest to buy? I'm also interested in seeing map of theta and delta waves...
Which one would you recommend for the treatment of ocd, adhd, and both anxiety and depression disorders? Or you think a clinic with more protocols and better hardware but also conderably more expensive per session would be more appropriate to get the results medication and a commercial device like muse or mendi would be capable of delivering. Thank you and I'm looking forward to see your thoughts on this.
I came here because I had just purchased the Muse S. It seems it will be very useful for me, but I *did* want feedback on how much Delta, Theta, Alpha and Beta I have under different conditions. Bare bones just that and nothing more. Are there apps for the Muse offering that, or gear offering brain wave overview (and essentially that)?
Hey what about the fitbit sense 2 or the Google watch 2. They do hrv and skin temperature and ox2 and pulse it should give you good feedback to your stresslevel.
The muse s and soundcore a10 haven't worked for sleep, it's made it worse actually. I have no trouble falling asleep, age 59, but always wake up after 4 hours. If I don't get up and instead listen to my oura ring sleep meditation, I can get back to sleep. Trying muse s and soundcore this week made it worse.
Awesome video once again. Just a note, be careful using AI and ML interchangeable. ML is used to predict results based on historical data. AI is a psudomagic computer algorithm that you feed wast amounts of text and suddenly it can talk.
@codyrallMD thanks for this video (and a few others that I've watched)! Do you know if there is any being used with Alzheimer's patients or who I could reach out to and ask? My mom has alzheimer's and I know there has to be cutting edge tools/studies being done. Thank you!
Absolutely love your videos! I'm a career drummer studying Somatic Experiencing trauma healing who is interested in neurofeedback to potentially improve outcomes in both domains. Which device might be best used during drumming? Any resources you recommend linking neurofeedback and trauma therapy? Thanks!
What are your thoughts on amofit VS pulsetto for vagus nerve stimulation, I was looking at both and ended up getting amofit because it looked like they had more studies on its use and Im able to sleep with it on
hi cody, just discovered your channel - just what I was looking for ! I have been using MUSE for a couple of years as part of researching neurofeedback for my 17 year old autistic niece who is non verbal. Can you suggest any brain training devices might be suited to somneone as my niece who is autistic and non verbal ?
Hello, I just discovered you and I really like your videos. I would like to consult you on something. I want to submit a project to a competition with an EEG device. In the project, I will convert brain waves into motion with robotic coding. For this, I only have a budget of 500 dollars for the EEG device. I thought about using the Emotiv insight model, but things like license fees got in the way. I guess I can't communicate the device with the computer without getting a license. I don't have complete information on this subject, so I'm in the middle for the device I will buy. Which is the best device suitable for my budget for the project I will do, can you inform me exactly how is the license issue for Emotiv insight? Thank you.
I'd like to know if you can cheat with any of these devices; Like can you take them off and put them around a plant and achieve the same results (i.e. not actually reliable) like you can with the ones that clip to your ear lobe in the past. One woman on youtube demonstrated how the Muse cannot tell the difference between a person concentrating on peaceful meditation and doing intense office work on their computer. Considering I have induced out of body experiences with single focus meditation IRL and want to continue improving this ability, knowing if these headbands actually work for single focus is VERY important to me for choosing which one I will buy next!
Hi. I like video which you prepare about different devices for brain monitoring. Recently I read about HemiSynk technology. This is a sound which generate frequency which synchronize left and right brain parts. Have you heard about? That would be interesting to see how this sound contribute on brain. If you will have interest on that may be it can be a subject for next video.
Nope, this is talking about CIA with security clearances to use remote mind control by satellite and use satellite directed energy weapons. Often with the AFB support in Colorado.
that was really weird. I want to UA-cam and before I typed in biofeedback I saw this video pop up . synchronicity idk? I have brain disease and abnormal brain waves I heard about biofeedback before I was using AI poe to do some research and biofeedback was on there. I would like to get into this biohacking. I've had chronic issues for 19 years and not getting any younger Maybe if I can start hacking maybe something positive can come out of it.
I watched your review and got muse and sens AI couldn't be worse, sens AI can't work at all.

In general the concept is not the best; It is rather expected that it will only be a reading of the neuronal frequencies, not inducing them... because: it is invasive, in the sense of starting the brain's ability to learn, for example, we plan to go towards deep meditation, theta waves, and through an element, vibrating when we move away from the purpose: this is how we truly train so that the BRAIN LEARNS to generate these states, when we do not have the element of neurofeedback vs. neurostimulation, which is desirable. With an ideal device like this, we would go, why not, to the state of ENLIGHTENMENT. The feedback referred to can be either visual, auditory or sensory, better yet: triple feedback! ✨🙂💭❗✅
Really disgusting that there are channels like this designed to prey on such vulnerable populations. There are people with very real mental health challenges that will watch this video and purchase one of these useless scam products in the desperate hope of getting better. Shame on you and shame on youtube for giving you a platform
Doc! I love your channel, but the pulsetto is not FDA approved and they make claims the device can treat pain l, and anxiety and head pain. And l you promoting a unapproved device to treat insomnia (sleep setting). Also, you are are a physician and you know that it’s only an electrical impulse delivered, to say there’s different settings to treat pain, head pain, anxiety, and sleep a.k.a. insomnia is Ludicrous because the device only gives one electrical current and the only other variable is time so it’s also false advertising with illegal claims, you are physician that is now promoting this device and it is not approved for any medical intervention or treatment. Not so great.I was a medical device national expert investigator for the FDAfor the last 22 years. There is a reason you have to prove effectiveness for any devices going to treat medical conditions. It goes back to 1920 with a snake oil sales to treat all medical conditions. Etc etc. Please be careful of the devices claim as when you were presenting the videos as I love your content.

Nice info. Just got my Muse and signed up for Myndlift. Do you have a recommendation for earbuds that are good for side-sleeping?
No, that's a good question. Luckily the Digital Sleeping Pill has the sound of rain and thunder so might not be to disruptive to partner's sleep.
@@CodyRallMD how does the sound get the ears with the digital sleeping pill? Haven’t tried it yet. Waiting for kit to arrive from MyndLift.
Its just regular phone speakers when you use it with the app@@ChrisOmeltschenko
When’ll neurable’s product be out?
for a study season, which one is the best? any of they could do the measure of this?
Dear Cody Rall, which is the best product to market in India. Should be AI driven wearable.
Id like more in depth videos and maybe like ,, i tried this headband for 3 months“
This rn sounds like a sales pitch
Which one is the best to study and memorize informations?
The Neurable headphones coming out next month will help you keep focus for longer. No devices yet for actually improving memory. I recommend checking out the book "Moonwalking with Einstein" by Joshua Foer.
Since I was in my early 20s, I have had huge problems with reading. Instead of doing it automatically, I am extremely aware of it while reading, and often has to read the same sentence several times before I'm able to move on. Some people say that when they read, they get lost in the book,, and suddenly several hours have passed. I used to be like that too. Now I am very aware of where I am all the time if I try to read.
Do you know what kind of brain device that could possibly be of any help for a situation like that?
which one actually measure the wave patterns?
What do you think about Vital Neuro?
Any discounts for neurable headphones?
Thank you and I'm looking forward to see your thoughts on this.
i want to know the product name and price
Hi Cody, What's your take on Dr. Patrick Porters award winning Brain Tap?
I found the Mendi was rubbish!
Not understanding how Muse made the list. I've ordered it twice, and it tracks 0 minutes for deep sleep. No way that that's correct.
Great information ! Thanks !
Will you consider a review of Resona Health VIBE ?
Awesome work!
Thank you!
This man's just the sponsor merchant out here. Rake in those bucks bruh
Absolutely love your videos! I'm a career drummer studying Somatic Experiencing trauma healing who is interested in neurofeedback to potentially improve outcomes in both domains. Which device might be best used during drumming? Any resources you recommend linking neurofeedback and trauma therapy? Thanks!
What are your thoughts on amofit VS pulsetto for vagus nerve stimulation, I was looking at both and ended up getting amofit because it looked like they had more studies on its use and Im able to sleep with it on
Interesting. Would mind to share your experience with Amofit? How is it working for you?
@@vedransimic86Amofit = #Weak performance.
hi cody, just discovered your channel - just what I was looking for ! I have been using MUSE for a couple of years as part of researching neurofeedback for my 17 year old autistic niece who is non verbal. Can you suggest any brain training devices might be suited to somneone as my niece who is autistic and non verbal ?
what kind of device to simply measure your brainwave patterns in real time while you do meditation experiments on your own?
Thank you.
I'd like to know if you can cheat with any of these devices;
Like can you take them off and put them around a plant and achieve the same results (i.e. not actually reliable) like you can with the ones that clip to your ear lobe in the past.
The HemiSynk is very similar to the AwakendMind headset, except it also offers a frontal lobe visor with synchronized flashing lights.
Clarity on what to get out of each device. One of the best reviews around. Worth my time.
thanks

Biased reviews, affiliate links. He makes money by selling you stuff. Tried two of these both were not helpful
maybe your right, how often do you meditate?
man's gotta eat too
I have Mendi for long enough... didn't do much for my focus to be honest....
so crazy roxiva rx1 is not on this
Begging to test Neiry
Or Gelo bci
Very Interesting! Thanks!
I can mediate daily for 1+ hours without any problem, but now I want a EEG device that can actually measure how high my Gamma waves frequency is.
What a liar lol
As if data collection on your phone and computer wasn’t enough, wear this head gear and let us collect data from your brain!
Pulsetto is the best one!
Thanks for the feedback!
My schizophrenia has brought me here ! When are we curing schizophrenia
Excuse me I meant to say when are scientist *
Yep it's all a sham
🤯wow
All this looks like complete garbage for city people who are the definition of consumerism at its finest 😂😂😂. You can sell anything to a city person, they are just so bored with life and always looking for an escape 😂😂😂

Pfft. We need a common sense one. Or, better logic. A stfu one would be really useful. A mute button to help people not say stupid things. Let's put technology to productive use.
