Love the way they mix German and English, six hundred and fünf tons.
You are pretty close. He is actaully saying 'Sechshundertundfünf Tonnen' which is all-german for 'six hundred and five tons'. Six and sechs as well as hundred and Hundert are pronounced very similarly, that is why it sounds like a wild mix. :)
***** Ok, thanks for that, I played it a few times and I still thought it was half German/English but as you say some German is similar similar to English even if the spelling is very different.
There is lots of English in this, just not that bit.
International Civil Aviation Organization has determined that English is the standardised language of air travel. International pilots speak English most of the time when communicating with anyone outside the aeroplane.

You can tell this pilot is one of the best out there. Flying an A-380 is most likely reserved for the most accomplished. Pilots like him deserve every dollar they earn (and more).
Jurgen Raps was Lufthansa's Chief Pilot (#1 for whole airline) at the time this video was recorded. He retired from flying in 2013 and took a VP position with the airline.
I agree. Pilots have a huge responsibility. When I land somewhere I wanna hug them and buy them a pint. Must be such a buzz being a pilot.
High Number I’ve flown bigger as well as the concord. I have my ACE pilot wings
Big responsibility a lot of lives at stake
@@9carcottrell246 Want to go out on a limb and make me your apprentice? Let's do this!
love that captain and his co-pilot. especially when they see the other a380's spectacular touchdown and laugh together
Right on the landing mark. Germans give credit where it's due.
Amazed to see they use same protocol I use before leaving in my ford ranger.
That captian sounds like a fun guy to fly with.
But your already a captain you cant fly with him your not a first officer anymore
Anyway he is awsome respect to him he has bin retired
@@jaimegomez2297 on the flight in the video there are two captains and a senior officer so he can fly with him on long distant flights.
I wish to become a commercial pilot but fainantally week .. Allah help me..
If someone invest on me I will return him double ..plz if someone ...I am 27 year old now ..
_ What the plan for today?
_We're heading for San Francisco.
_Oh, that's new to me, good idea.
_As usual, we decide after take-off!
Yo but could you imagine? You buy a ticket to a plane, but destination isn’t decided before you’re airborne. I’d go

Just amazing, so calm and professional. Watching this makes me feel so safe onboard. These guys deserve each and every dollar they earn.
@Captain Capitalistic Coconut
Americans think that the only currency is the world is the dollar lol
VaDrak it’s the only important and most powerful currency in the world
@@champagnepenis5052
Euro is pretty powerful too, many transactions in international deals are done in Euro as well, you should educate yourself.
Also the dollar with the money the US is printing out of thin air(without backing it up) has lost significant power in many areas.
Some countries already have start dumping the dollar(years now), just wait and watch in the next 10 years.
VaDrak As an avid forex trader, I know this and more. No need to flaunt your baseless ego about euros because it sounds like my comment offended you personally. Do more research for yourself as well. The dollar has been and will be the most important currency for at least the span of the decade you so egotistically mentioned.

the captain is so calm and professional, also like how he’s cracking jokes to improve the mood of his fellow crew members even more!
The captain was as cool as a cucumber. Very impressed.

Captain Raps is the best, I just love his serious professionalism, mixed with loving what he does and having a great time doing it. Congratulations on a great career and happy retirement.
9:20 he is as excited as anyone who sees a plane landing :)
Mad respect to the pilots getting those beasts off the ground, cool and calm too.
And men and women who made them.
I like swissair videos.

These guys are sooo Professional. I love Lufthansa!
Bob Lewin yeah they even set a route just in case of engine failure
That's obligatory, every flight needs that... from the tiny cessna 172 up to the a380....

I'm terrified of flying, but those men are so composed and confident, they both know exactly what they're doing and are having fun, without compromising their focus. This is what I would hope for every time I have to fly. Can't wait to fly with Lufthansa one day!
Might be one of the best tapes ever, I have to watch it twice a year at least.
Jürgen Raps was one of the best and most experienced pilots on this planet
Did he retire?
@@erroristmusic Yes, I think last year. He was the head pilot of Lufthansa
@@derxer614 That's a big title on his shoulders. Wonder who is the head pilot now
@@erroristmusic Oh update: His last flight was in 2011 :) In 2007 he was one of the first 4 airline pilots worldwide to be licensed for the A380
For reallllll. I love himmm. I wish i could meet him. My goodnessss🥺🥺
You can clearly see that Mr. Raps enjoyed his job and that he's a very happy person. Love this man.
Imagine having such a responsible job and yet being so confident and relaxed. That’s experience right there.
Gracias
"Right on the touchdown marker" and they both smile, after watching the other L380 land in front of them. Members of the 'Cool Cat Club' for sure.
I love the way they get so excited watching the other plan, great job guys.
"A very short flight of 10.30 hrs" lol
lol i noticed that too. These are just so cool, never get tired of watching :)
I once had a flight to SFO from Frankfurt that was 11:45 because of the bad wind. So 10:30 is really short.
When I have trouble sleeping, I'd play one of the A380 videos with Capt. Juergen in cockpit. His and his crew's voices would lull me to sleep. What an great crew led by an amazing captain! Imagine flying with such a calm and experienced pilot and crew; I'd probably sleep as soundly as I'd be in my bed.
This might be the most interesting thing I've ever watched!
Todd howard is here can you fix fallout and make fallout five lol XD
How could it be a German airline and I hadn't heard "Wunderbar"? I was satisfied at 04:47
This is one of the best produced and most informative departure + take off videos I've seen. Excellent job. Very professional crew.
You'd feel very safe with these guys in charge. Marvellous video. Thank you.
Captain paks
I think maybe Kapitan Raps' final flight is in this mix. It's very emotional. The moment when he removes his captain's bars is incredible.
Does this pilot have 20,000 hours @ retirement?
"As always, we decide after take off" :D this Captain is an absolute don
This is a premium take off video that's almost too good for this site considering how bad it's turned over the last 6 years
Danke, super gemacht.
It's amazing to see such a beautiful aircraft go through pre-flight checks and inspections before takeoff. The pilots obviously love their job w/ the 380.
For many years I flew by Lufthansa from Miami to Minsk on A380. I would say that Lufthansa is one of the most reliable air carriers.
I love the Lufthansa pilots, they're all so cool and calm. I'm terrified of flying but I'd fly Lufthansa in a heartbeat because their pilots are so amazing.
Fantastic, this has got to be one of my favourite videos of youtube, You guys seem to have a lot of fun doing the best job in the world. The 380 is one of my favourite aircraft, and Lufthansa also my favourite, so big thumbs up and keep up the good work you do. Maybe i will be one of your passengers one day. Thank you so much for sharing.

Forget the A 380, the vehicle that does the push back sure has to be mighty powerful. That little flatbed truck pushing a mighty aircraft....

Love the absolute professionalism of everyone
The pilots are totally professional. They are super cool and relaxed without any tension whatsoever. Kudos to Luftansa on having such amazing pilots ! !
At 10:52 you can see the A380 in the same shot with a B747. That Airbus is huge. A well done to Captain Raps; he is a true professional and a credit to Lufthansa.
Very professional, calm and methodical and in control, most
impressed, especially since I am a nervous flyer, even though I have been aloft
many a time! Enjoyed watching, thank you for posting.
When i first started flying i was really nervous, but after getting my instrument and commercial ratings my confidence is so much and im much more relaxed, confidence is truly important
Agree there, I think it's the same if you are in control of anything...you have to be confident and have a professional attitude, it's quite a skill I think.

The Captain has an excellent speaking voice and he speaks flawless German.
Being a co-pilot it has to be so much fun to fly with this captain, he's so chill and funny haha
Thank you for posting this video!
I enjoyed this quite a bit, although when they mentioned turbulence ahead my stomach started tightening in sympathy for the passengers because I do not like (in any way) sudden drops during flying.
The camera coverage in this video is quite impressive.
I can't imagine how difficult it was [legally] to get an international commercial airport to okay the use of camera drones within restricted airspace! (The one overhead shot of the nose of the plane as it's taxiing onto the runway was spectacular.) The synchronization of all ground-, aircraft- and tower-based cameras onto to the exact same flight was also quite a challenging treat. My compliments go out to the video editing and on-site production staff for making it look so seamless.
EVA_Unit_4A Yeah turbulence was scary the first time I've been through it as a passenger
I like watching these two. They really seem to love what they do.
I have to agree - this is simply one FANTASTIC aviation/cockpit video.
It is so interesting, so well made and so well edited, and shows loads of additional information that is interesting to a viewer that likes these things. I wholeheartedly admit that it is one of my all time favourite YT aviation videos. Thank you Sso much for making it so well, and for sharing it with us.
And also big props for sharing the landing into SFO video - I loved it just as much.
I've flown Lufthansa Business Class on 5 recent trips and would do it all again without hesitation.
Jurgen Raps. Great man. Bless him and his family in retirement.

Canadiana66 it's called german xd
Appreciated the humor sense and cool attitude of Capton
I’m flying to Germany for the first time in exactly 4 weeks! This was interesting to watch!
How did it go?
145 tons of fuel, astonishing!
Well a 145 tons equals about 290,000 pounds. So if a gallon weighs in at 7.50 pounds. 38,666 gallons
Shagg Nasty shit damn that's like a whole lifetime of gas
Great video! All that interaction of ground crews, ATC, and pilots to get that huge plane on its way to SF. Amazing what the human mind has produced!
Pájaro Gigante... qué hermoso es... WOW.... desde Guatemala Guatemala CA.. Hermoso Hermoso video... gracias gracias.
Best cockpit video I've seen yet!
So so professional! I love the checklists, preparation for take off and alternatives in case of emergency. So good!

That was a BADASS video!!! Full of enthusiasm and professional. LOVED IT
Awesome cockpit video!
Jaaaaa
I dont really think much about aviation on a day to day basis, but when i’m in the air, i’m completely engrossed in it. Like every thing that happens fascinates me. Especially when turbulence hits and i remind myself that it’s just a bit of warm air rising.
Man, I might beat my fear of plane flights after this video. Professional, yet so chill about it.

I love Lufthansa crew! When I worked at Swissotel Lufthansa crew would stay with us and they were always so fun and friendly - also consummate professionals. :-)
My last fligth on an A380 was MUC-LAX that was one of the best flights, was on the upper deck with few passengers and the Flight attendant was amazing! treated me like a king!. Thank you for the Memories Lufthansa!!
The Germans don't mess around.
Damn rite!!
They know exactly what they're doing and they enjoy it.
It is a pity that it is an endangered people. Soon they will be a minority in their own country. I am Brazilian and I have a deep respect for the Germanic people, they should learn to be more proud of their own culture and put an end to the bullying they suffer because of the Nazi period.

I remember seeing these beautiful birds at San Francisco all the time, back in the day. It's a shame they've been retired.
Another incredible video. Watching that behemoth lumber down the runway and leap into the air was beautiful.
I am always amazed that something so big can not only get airborne but stay there.
