    PERFECT!!! I have to order a scan tool today, and I've been trying to *quickly* find out if the D7 can tell me *"Distance Since Diagnostic Trouble Codes Cleared".* AND THERE IT IS ON THE SCREEN. [12:35] Thank you Mr. @Modern DIY Projects sir.

      I just got the D7. It's been heavily updated. I couldn't tell the difference. But a youtuber has a video about that update, and he describes all the new functions .🏌‍♂️🎆

    Thanks for the thorough review. I'm in the hunt for a bidirectional scanner for DIY jobs, which means I don't want to break the bank. I'm soooo optimistic after I saw your video, the D7 sounds absolutely fantastic for my needs and budget. One question though, can it do a transmission relearn which some manufacturers (Subaru for example) require after a trans fluid change?

    • @ModernDIYProjects
      @ModernDIYProjects  Рік тому +1

      I cant answer that with certainty because I don't have a Subaru to plug it in and test. It does have a lot of functions but for specifics I would contact the seller on Amazon and give them your vehicle info and they can be much more specific. I can tell you that I like my Xtool scanners better than the Foxwell scanners that I have. Xtool is much faster at scanning and diagnosing than the Foxwell which can be slow and laggy.

    hey big fan i have a problem wite old nissan from 97 to 2010 i tryied 3 obd2 scanners nothing work will xtool d7 work?

    • @ModernDIYProjects
      @ModernDIYProjects  9 місяців тому +1

      This scanner works with all 1996 and newer OBD2 vehicles, but if you have tried 3 scanners and nothings works, I think you have bigger issues. The scanners may not be the problem. Have you checked to see if you have communication between the OBD2 port and the computer? This scanner has worked even with an old 97 Dodge Ram that I have so it works with old cars. But first check and make sure that you car is OK and willing to talk t the scanners.

      It should, but to get precise information I would suggest to email the seller on Amazon with your vehicle specs. Tell them which scanner you saw and where you saw it so they know exactly what model you are referring to.

    I bought one. I was disappointed that it does not list any chrylser/dodge/jeep/RAM product past 2019, even if you bought the special cable.

    • @ModernDIYProjects
      @ModernDIYProjects  2 роки тому +2

      Did you buy it recently, and have you done ALL the updates? In the short time that I have had mine it has gone through several updates, including the OS system. It may have updated a lot of that by now. BTW Chrysler products may be under a different name now since they became Stellantis. That could also be why you don't see any updates since this machine may be listing them under their New Corporate name.

    • @ModernDIYProjects
      @ModernDIYProjects  Рік тому +1

      I believe it does. It would not change the RPMs per se. What it does is a relearn to have the vehicle relearn the NEW rpm settings. But if you want to be 100% certain, send an email to the seller on Amazon and ask them directly.

      The manufacturer support guys are fantastic to work with. But, they are in China so there can be a delay in getting an answer due to time difference and working hours. And they reply in understandable English too.

    I noticed your battery stayed at 100%. Was the scanner getting charged from the OBD2 port or did you have to connect a USB charger?

    • @ModernDIYProjects
      @ModernDIYProjects  2 роки тому +1

      That is correct. All scanners get 12V power when plugged into the OBD2 port. Some scanners like this one have an on board battery so you can use it away from the car. Smaller, cheaper scanners do not have on board batteries and only work when plugged directly into the OBD2 port.

    • @MrRightNow
      @MrRightNow 2 роки тому

      @@ModernDIYProjects the reason I asked because I just bought a D7 and the battery gets drained even when plugged in into the OBD port. I tried it on 2 different cars so far. It only seems to charge through OBD when I turn it off completely. Maybe I got a lemon, idk. I have other scanners and they charge through OBD just fine. I'm not too happy with this scanner so far, thinking about returning it.

    • @ModernDIYProjects
      @ModernDIYProjects  2 роки тому +1

      Yeah, that doesn't sound right. Try this first before you send it back. Plug the scanner in first then turn the ignition key to the run position. Don't turn the key first. That may give a false signal or something. If it still doesn't charge properly then you may just have a faulty cable that doesn't send the 12V current to the scanner.

      @@ModernDIYProjects thanks, I'll will give it a shot, although I've tried many things already, restarting the scanner, turning off WiFi, lowering brightness, etc.. I also sent a message to tech support, so far no answer from them.. One other thing I was bummed about is that when I pulled live data, it had any 270 data points in NO PARTICULAR order, so it was quite hard to find the items I was looking for. There's a search icon though that you can use, but when tried searching things the software gets really sluggish and non responsive.. I was really looking forward to this scanner, but it seems like it has few things that need to be worked out before it becomes user friendly.

    • @ModernDIYProjects

      I see. Have you tried doing a current update? I know I did an update about a month ago and it did an update to the Android OS system, so that may fix many of the bugs that you are experiencing. If it doesn't do it from the scanner screen, try going to the main control panel and see if you can get the latest OS update that way. For me it popped up right when I turned it on that one time. It was a big update too, large download.

      Price? Is in the video. If you mean that it's pricey as in costly, it isn't really. Most scan tools in this range of utility are around the same price. Some cost more and give you less, so this is competitive for what it does.

    This is exactly what car thieves use to steal your car. They drive around and literally reprogram a key fob in seconds! Just an FYI

    • @ModernDIYProjects
      @ModernDIYProjects  6 місяців тому

      Where did you learn that on Tik Tok? That is absolutely NOT true. Whoever told you that was pulling you leg. Most car companies require you to have at least ONE original key with you to be able to program a new key. Some car makers require you to have ALL your original keys to program a new key. And in case you lost ALL your keys, most car makers require you to go to the Dealer ONLY to program a new key. They will do a VIN check and verify ownership before programming a new key and then they need to reprogram the body control module to accept this new key without ANY other keys available. So just jumping in a random car and programming a new key to drive it away is practically impossible.

      @@ModernDIYProjects Good swipe but it’s ok. I’m in Law Enforcement and see this all the time. They go around with blank key fobs and literally program the keys in the back seat of a trail car. That’s why cars are getting stolen and the owner is in possession of all keys. Your video was very educational and you definitely are knowledgeable. I just see to many bad actors watching these videos.
