I wanted to say thank you for posting this video and I love the fact that you kept it very simple and easy to understand. I’ve watched a lot of videos when 3 to 4 minutes in and I was totally confused. Thank you again.
Just finished getting my Intex up and had no clue what chemicals to add to it until I came across your video. What a tremendous help, Thank you so much.
Just wanted to say a big Thank You Dale! Just set up my above ground pool and I never had one before. I had no clue but I watched all your videos on set up and sand filter set up and how to properly add chemicals for the first time to a pool and they are extremely easy to understand and follow along and helped me out immensely! So keep doing what you’re doing! 😂thanks again. Take care
The only thing I have ever done is install a tablet every few days. If it starts turning green, I shock it with a few gallons of Clorox. Haven’t used a test strip in 4 years. My water is clear as a bell.
Hi i love your video very easy to understand one thing I want to know is this for a sand and salt water pump for above ground pool if it is i thought i had to add salt. Please help me
Sooo I have to really commend you on this lesson and video !!! New pool owner here however I did put my pool up but had a issue after three months of being a chemist and a pool girl I ended up just draining it and starting over so I started over two days ago got back on UA-cam and found YOU !!! I also use well water that is not harsh and I said self let’s try this and boom wonderful outcome thank you so so much for taking out time for people like me !! My pool is ready !!! 😊😊
I plan on buying same pool you have in video. I appreciate your effective communication and ease of explanation of the products. I can't watch videos where someone has poor communications skills, its a turn off. Thanks for posting.
Great stuff! I’m getting ready to set up my first Intex pool this weekend, been prepping the ground for the past two weeks. I’ll be referencing your videos a lot! Thanks!
Great video. I did just like you said and our above ground pool is perfect. Thanks for making it easy to understand. I found your simplicity very motivating.
Great videos. Could you make more videos about you taking care of your pool “chemicals”. See you testing your water and what your strip is saying and what do you do to resolve it. So many new pool owners l like me that I talk to are all overwhelmed with this. We test our water with strips but what do you do with the reading of the strip? lol. Also I heard there is a proper way to use test strips to get a good reading. Love the pool but it’s a stress for trying to keep the water properly treated.
I live in Oklahoma. My husband filled up our new pool, long story short. We’re crazy busy. We never treated it a couple weeks ago when it was filled. So it’s green, bugs, leaves etc. It’s a 1,200 gallon above ground pool. How many chlorine tablets would I use? And other than the 1/12th of that shock bag, is there anything else I should use since we left it sitting so long ? Sorry for all the questions 😅
if chlorine levels fall way too low, or you’re starting to get algae issues and need to shock it. Sometimes I’ll add a little after a big pool party and lots of use to get chemicals back in line. Otherwise don’t need to use it
Great video,,,, it is a concern that we are apx. 2.5 inches out of balance and the end poles on one end touch the pool. What do we do ? Is this something major . Kinda scary. Help !!!!
Ok i put shock in and chlorine in a 14 ft pool but it doesnf say how long after adding it can we swim ..so we will wait till tomorrow morn at least ... do i need anything other. Then shock and the chlorine pucks do i need to use the oh stuff also or right away what if my levels are all off but water looks fine can we not swim in it
Just the end vertical members go behind the band. The hoop supports on the sides do not go behind the band. The hoop members slide through the wide strap like pieces at the bottom on the sides.
I have this same pool. Are the inlet tubes supposed to have hardly any suction? I noticed mine feel like it has no suction force at all and feels like water is just going in but not being sucked. I noticed the skimmer filter isn’t doing much because it’s super clean even though I notice lots of small bugs on my pools surface. Any help?
We used half a bag of shock before our first swim in our new best way pool, and I believe it might have bleached the liner floor. Have you experienced anything like that with your liner? My husband says it’s the sun shining on it, but IDK. 🤔
I find the best way is to fill a large bucket with warm water, dissolve the shock into the bucket of water, then pour it into the pool close to the inlet. Turn the pump on and it will distribute it around the pool.
depends on the use. I suggest if you will use on friday-Sunday, then test the water on Wed or Thursday. This allows you to treat and give it time to circulate before anyone jumps in.
I filled my pool up but we live in the country and the well water is hard. Our water looks really dark. What do you recommend using or doing to get it clear?
That is some sort of impurity. Guessing it is brown? This would iron. I recommend using an RV filter attached to your hose. If you don't want to empty a pool, there are a lot of filter ideas on youtube using a 5 gallon bucket with cotton balls. Hope this helps!
Just once in a while to get levels back up if needed. I don’t add regularly, only if chlorine level falls too much or you get and algae bloom or something
I'm new at this. Do you have steps that I can follow? I got the info about the pump how many hours, testing about 3 times a week, shock in the evening, clean when needed. Is there anything else?
Hi just put up my pool (Same as yours) for this year. Second summer with this pool. My ladder looks like it rusted from inside and every time I pull it out I see rust colored water dripping out of it. Any advice? Thank you I find your videos very useful.
I bought the smaller oval Coleman and my ladder does the same thing. Not only rusting but a rust gooey like glue drips dry from dripping running down it. I wonder if I got some Rust-Oleum if that would not be good?.... My thinking feels like plunging ladder back in water would the chlorine make the rust proof item eat off into the pool water?
I have some questions 😅 How many times do you have to do this routine? Also when can you swim in the pool after you add all the chemicals? do you take out the chlorine float when your swimming? And do you put it in before or after?
I test the water about once a week, but it also Depends on the usage and temperature. If you keep chlorine levels up, shouldn’t have to shock it again. If algae blooms, you’ll need shock. After adding chemicals, test the water again and if levels are good , you can swim right away . I always leave my chlorine float in the pool. It can stay when pool is being used, just make sure kids don’t play with it.
I currently don’t have the sand for the pool and I am trying to look for it do you know what I can do to keep the water clean for now while I order the sand ?
Tip: tabs are acidic and will affect the pH in some cases (depending). You have a vinyl liner pool thus the pH will tend to drift down contrary to most situations with cement, pebble, etc surfaces. Perhaps liquid chlorine diluted (and it will not harm your liner as dry shock has potential to burn or discolor of all chlorine types - generally speaking. In conclusion, I’d use less tabs also because they are stabilized. I’d say .75-1 gallon liquid (sodium hypochlorite) with moderate use of tabs (keep an eye on cyunaric acid..). There’s much more to be said but again, dry chlorine is more costly and dangerous to store. Sodium hypochlorite is still the most effective and safe sanitizer
Ok, I’m brand new pool owner, and totally overwhelmed, please clarify for me if you can, ok I understand after you fill, you add the shock plus, got it , then what, add a puck to keep up the choline for a week, then do you add shock every week or regular choline, confused, thank you for any help you can give me…really appreciate it
After you add shock, I’d test the water to see if chlorine level is at target. If not high enough, add more. At same time, add the chlorine tablets in a float. They dissolve super slow and maintain the chlorine level. Chlorine slowly evaporates and the tablets slowly keep the level up 👍
I have another model of Bestway pool which is 5.49x 2.74x 1.22 but i am not happy with my filter pump my question is Can i change it with the one you use it? Another question is how can you keep the bottom of your pool clean without draining the water ?

@@dalesbackyardofficial I had actually changed sand, thinking it was that. I am new to pools, I don't know if it could be dirt being blow into the pool and after a couple of hours it drops down.

@@degan9403 Thank you for your reply! So far my best option for getting that "dust" out was putting a hose in the pool at the bottom adding water and then shutting off the water to the hose, its the "The garden hose siphon method", it actually works good.
Sounds to me you’re having an issue with your backwashing being pumped back into your pool. Try backwashing the filter for a lil longer. Maybe 3 minutes or so then run the pump on the “rinse” setting for about 1 minute. Then when you turn on pump to filter setting you should be pumping clean water into your pool from filter.

Some of the chemicals, such as chlorine, can change the ph a lot. Ph correction helps keep it more neutral

Shock can absolutely bleach the liner. I always brush the bottom after spreading shock to get it off the surface and to help it dissolve.
I find the best way is to fill a large bucket with warm water, dissolve the shock into the bucket of water, then pour it into the pool close to the inlet. Turn the pump on and it will distribute it around the pool.

How much shock should you add in a 1236 gallon pool
I filled my pool up but we live in the country and the well water is hard. Our water looks really dark. What do you recommend using or doing to get it clear?
shock, it is a strong chlorine that comes granulated. I believe it is the same product he added half the bag of in video

Should you use chlorine free shock if your having no algae or cloudy water
If your chlorine levels are low, shock helps get them up to where it needs to be to prevent algae

How often to add shock?
For my pool, once a week. I have a small 12 foot coleman
So after filling up my pool and putting in products, how soon can I get in the pool? I read that I would need to wait a week. Is that correct?
When done adding chemicals, test the water again. If levels are in target range, you can swim right away.
If you read wait 1 week, that was probably instructions for shocking to a high level to correct a problem like algae.
What is the cyarnic acid? Mine is showing none? How do I fix this? Also showing high ph so I need to go get the oh down stuff?
