It used to be that if a Chinese man were to even consider getting married they had to have a job, a bicycle, & a refrigerator, but these days the bride's family expect a prospective husband to have a job, a car, a nice state-owned apartment, & an overseas property! Many Australians can't afford to buy their own homes as non-Australian citizens buying property over the last 30-40 years have been driving up real-estate prices to absolutely ridiculous levels. In the process, rents have risen way faster than wages, meaning saving for a deposit becomes impossible, even for many with two incomes! Also adding to the current housing crisis is the abysmally low availability of affordable rental-accommodation, which causes rents to rise even more, but there are many of those Chinese (& other Asians) who leave their properties vacant creating areas of 'zombie' apartments in much the same way as all those zombie-cars!
The strategy that the Chinese manufacturers employ when entering a new market is self-defeating. When starting to sell into a foreign market, they just go whole hog and attempt to overwhelm the competition by dumping cheap products in huge quantities. This backfires and brings tariffs and sanctions on the imported goods. No domestic suppliers will stand still for predatory marketing of products designed to bankrupt local business owners. Because China 🇨🇳 always wants to dominate a business, they lose all the opportunities if they just start small and prove the products value. Then, if more are in demand, they can expand or partner with local business for distribution purposes. China 🇨🇳 is greedy, and ox like in dealing with trade and markets, and that's why they fail over and over. 😮😮😮😮😢😢😅
@@markmd9 Yeah you’re probably right. Difficult for so many people in China. I lived there for 12 years I never knew of this situation. Life in China is so hard and now getting harder.

... But... car will even start after a year of sitting in place ? In GOOD garage properly prepared car, can move after getting some fresh oil, gas and full bettery. But this ones in dust, grass and whole year of external factors ?
If you let a car sit a year in the US, it will likely need thousands of Dollars in repairs to the gasoline system. US gas is absolutely terrible. it has a large amount of ethanol in it. It turns to jelly and rusts any metal it comes into contact with because ethanol sucks water out of the air. Between jelly and rust, it can destroy the entire fuel system so that you need to replace the tank, all the fuel lines and the injectors and pump. Once jelly forms, there is no real way to get rid of in small fuel lines and injectors.
This whole "saving face" thing is a constant thorn in people's sides for generations upon generations. "I have to show up at home looking rich and important..." blabla... just appearances.
Encouraging people to buy a new car when they can barely afford it is downright stupid. Also goes when taking out a loan when your salary will be barely enough to pay the monthly repayments.
That brings dishonor to the family. Probably goez against their social credit system. Id not be suprised if they are somehow punished for not owning a car. Refusing to support the car industry is probably some sort of crime. Idk.

Then don't take a loan for it,chances are you won't be able to afford the payments either .
I am a german middle class man working for a big german car manufacturer. I dont own a house and I chose to have a reliable but cheap ass Lada Niva where I dont need special tools or electronic devices to make minor repairs.. I use the money I earn to buy organic food and for all the other "needs" nowadays. My TV is not "smart" and around 15years old.. I have certain luxury items myself because the last suit you will ever wear has no pockets but to be forced to fake success to be someone paints a realy weird picture of your society in my oppinion.
The idea that you must eat -organic" and "bio " foods to be considered a decent person is a lie that has been sold to you. Normal food is okay. And anything you save on repairs on that Lada you have already paid in extra fuel consumption. Your choices do not make good sense.
@@user-gdxt-7399 organic is not a lie, I dont do it to be a decent person. I do it to be heathy and to avoid as much carcinogenic triggers as possible like those you can find plenty in pesticides. Make a test buy 2 different kinds of meat and looks what shrinks more or what the differences in taste are. There is or was a famous Japanese scientist/fotographer he became famous because of his pictures of snowflafes and how different music styles influence the outcome if melted and frozen again. He made some very nice cell-pictures of the diffrerences of bio and not-bio. And to my Lada, yes it drinks much, its loud but it is cheap and I can do allmost everything myself , for cheap. I can screw off electronic parts an when I screw them together the right way it usually works. Try that with modern cars. You can not safely remove a cover without breaking some thing. We mostly use bikes, bus or tram. The car is just to haul or if it necessary and if it comes hard the Lada is a capable machine and it was reliable ever since.
So it's all about "face", such BS. I noticed this in some of the the financial crisis videos also, some people in China don't seem to really think about their future and have grown accustomed to making poor choices and then crying that "they're suffering". Hard to sympathise.
Now I want a cartoon series "I was reincarnated as taxi, in Zombie Car World" Its.. why you need to get back to your old world values. Sad, tough lesson.
It sad that people's lives are so burdened with lies. All these problems have solutions but no one cares enough to do anything about it. Just the tyres having to be replaced every year from lack of use could be solved by durable composite airless tyres. The battery having to be replaced when they could have a trickle feed capacitor installed from factory. And the list goes on and on but yet people just choose a temporary bandaid to patch the system instead of fixing problems so they are not going to be problems in the future.
I'm a mechanic, you can't let a car sit for a year, especially over dirt or grass, it rots the car underneath, the tires gets flat spots, the oil and other fluids deteriorate. The interior gets moldy, even the gasoline goes bad. These owners don't have the wherewithal to justify owning a car. If I didn't need a car I wouldn't bother because theyre expensive and need attention.
If they're not going to use the car all year they should have their family drive them to the city and take the car back with them so they can take care of it.
Cars can break down just sitting, because they're not being used, all seals that are made of rubber can dry out, meaning lots can go wrong as soon as they're started again
As an Indian, my car also stays in the apartment parking for months. It's much cheaper to use my bike and public transport for work or for any other commuting.
@@arit8401 My parents live in a hill station. The only public transports to go there are buses or taxis. The problem is that I'd have to change multiple public transports to reach there. One from my current state to the capital city of my home state then from the capital city to my parents home. I'd rather take my car. Plus, I may not need a car everyday but when I really need it, it really comes in handy. For example, My sister came to visit me a few weeks ago and I can't take her on a city tour on a bus.
I get that. I thought I didn't need a car before, but since I have one I always find purpose for it. Buying furniture, bringing stuff to the dump, visiting my mum.
There are several items mixed up here that have nothing to do with each other. The many white cars (14:15) belong to bankrupt rental car companies. And yes, they are also cars that are stationary, but for a completely different reason.
This really hurts to watch as a car lover. Hell, just as someone with common sense... These cars are worth so much money and are so beautiful, yet they're just left to rot like that. And the cost of repairs after all that must be so high, too. I don't understand what these people must be thinking.
How wasteful. I worked hard for my car. I put my car in the repair shop for a day or week(tree fell on it and a hail storm, you wouldn't believe how much I missed my car. Getting back in my car is like coming home after being away for months.
would it be cheaper just to rent a car for a day or a week and after, return it back... When I go long family trips, I go rent a car. This is just bad money management what so many Chinese folks are doing.
I guess China does not have a version like Turo, where you can rent out your car when you are not using it and make money. Such a waste of resources and shows why China has a really bad environmental standing in the world.
We should halt global production of cars for a while mainly because cars last a long time and they are also unaffordable for most of the world. We dont need new cars every year, it's incredibly wasteful. We need to bring back public transportation and the use of bicycles and scooters.
Do you have any idea how many people are employed worldwide by car manufactures? Not even to mention the sub contractors that make parts for those manufacturers? Just stopping that would create a worldwide catastrofe
There are proper methods for storing and reataring gasoline cars for that time.... Time is still harsh on the car but if properly stored they would last significantly longer
My car was left for 2 years, I was unable to fix it. But when I tried to start it, tldr I had to do over $600 of work to get it going including learning many advanced mechanical skills and soldering to fix some wiring issues that rodents had chewed. The work was grueling, but now the car has gone over 4,000 miles without an issue since I fixed it. The shops wanted around 3-4000 for the work.

So you are saying an average Chinese factory worker can afford a Mercedes and Audi???😂
How am i suppose to believe it?😅
They live in a factory often, leave work one day a month for a date 😂
How lazy are you that you can't show up once a month and take it around the block to make sure it's useable.
You loose your parking spot, haven’t you seen Seinfeld? 😂
Is it? Is it really lazy considering 80 hour workweeks is normal in china?
You would think some enterprising fellow would offer a service for that: every couple of weeks he sends someone around to rotate the tires, tick the engine over etc. All for a nominal fee, of course.
The most surprising part is that they haven't been stolen or just bricked. Even just stealing the catalytic converter, you could resell them easily. It's a huge problem here in the US, and I think the UK too.
That's because the chines are too occupied working Americans have too much time in their hands and some people use that free time to commit crimes
No catalytic converter in China, nothing to steal. No emissions controls at all!
It's not a massive problem here. But it does happen more in poorer areas. maybe hear of one every couple months where I am.
Fascinating behavior

You can't do this in America, because you would first get a ticket and if its not moved they will tow it away or worse the cars would be striped of parts after being stolen.
That’s what happens when your country is un efficient
... But... car will even start after a year of sitting in place ?
In GOOD garage properly prepared car, can move after getting some fresh oil, gas and full bettery.
But this ones in dust, grass and whole year of external factors ?
Sure. Use a solar panel to keep the battery topped up. Not expensive and saves your battery and of course gets you home
I had a car in garage that I wasn't driving.
Things of concerns present only the battery to not discharge and tires to not deflate.
Outstanding information
This whole "saving face" thing is a constant thorn in people's sides for generations upon generations.
"I have to show up at home looking rich and important..." blabla... just appearances.
Encouraging people to buy a new car when they can barely afford it is downright stupid. Also goes when taking out a loan when your salary will be barely enough to pay the monthly repayments.
KIA boys would have a field day here
Why dont they just rent a car for those few days instead of buying one?
gonna guess surge pricing for the CNY season.

That brings dishonor to the family. Probably goez against their social credit system. Id not be suprised if they are somehow punished for not owning a car. Refusing to support the car industry is probably some sort of crime. Idk.

That is a fun car, even though not the cheapest I think as they probably drink a lot.
Just hire one for the New Year is surely the best option?😊

Gass typically loses its octane and goes bad in 6 months, did you change your gas?
It sad that people's lives are so burdened with lies. All these problems have solutions but no one cares enough to do anything about it. Just the tyres having to be replaced every year from lack of use could be solved by durable composite airless tyres. The battery having to be replaced when they could have a trickle feed capacitor installed from factory. And the list goes on and on but yet people just choose a temporary bandaid to patch the system instead of fixing problems so they are not going to be problems in the future.
Happens in the usa too...just noone talks about it
I'm a mechanic, you can't let a car sit for a year, especially over dirt or grass, it rots the car underneath, the tires gets flat spots, the oil and other fluids deteriorate. The interior gets moldy, even the gasoline goes bad. These owners don't have the wherewithal to justify owning a car. If I didn't need a car I wouldn't bother because theyre expensive and need attention.
Most people from china dont anything about cars or k ow how to drive cars until 2008
If they're not going to use the car all year they should have their family drive them to the city and take the car back with them so they can take care of it.
Bye a car and don't drive it because fuel cost too much🤦 fuel is cheap compared to the depreciation of the vehicle. This mentality is insane.
Man these people world sense are on a whole other level.
The pride/face is real for these people.
Really sick!
Cars can break down just sitting, because they're not being used, all seals that are made of rubber can dry out, meaning lots can go wrong as soon as they're started again
In all seriousness. This just makes me feel less bad about some of the stupid things i have wasted too much money on over the years.
My dad's van sat for 11 years after he died. It took a little work but I got it running again and am driving it.
Very interesting and informative
Better use a fuel stabilizer like Stabil. Gas starts to go bad within 6 months or less.
Yeah, my car only uses a few tanks of gas per year, too. It really helps when you rarely drive.

What a waste! Just why?? Concerned about fuel? The car cost way more!
There are several items mixed up here that have nothing to do with each other.
The many white cars (14:15) belong to bankrupt rental car companies.
And yes, they are also cars that are stationary, but for a completely different reason.
They must not pay registration, property taxes or insurance on them! Taxes and insurance payments are half the cost of the vehicle ownership here.

Rise up People of China
would it be cheaper just to rent a car for a day or a week and after, return it back... When I go long family trips, I go rent a car. This is just bad money management what so many Chinese folks are doing.
You go try and rent a car at the exact same time as everybody else in your country wants to rent a car
I guess China does not have a version like Turo, where you can rent out your car when you are not using it and make money.
Such a waste of resources and shows why China has a really bad environmental standing in the world.
I love turo when traveling
Because nobody needs an car for 11 months of the year and EVERYBODY wants a car for that 1 month of the year. You see the problem?
If there was just something like being able to rent a car for a few days, these people would save so much money & the world would not be so screwed up
We should halt global production of cars for a while mainly because cars last a long time and they are also unaffordable for most of the world.
Just in case: I hope you understand that halting production drives prices up ? Demand stays, supply disappears - voila, prices go to the moon.

Damn a National Geographic documentary on this would be beautiful.
My gosh, does anyone have any educated guess of % of total population that is unemployed or sort of in there? This maybe the whole population of Brazil or Russia in numbers. Many hungry mouths to feed. Imagine that
Why not rent a car if you're only going to use it once a year? This makes no sense.
Why don't they unplug the battery before leaving it? So dumb.
Why do people want to work in a factory instead of on the land in the countryside this looks really depressing being stuck in a factory for so long
