@@mandymoore5774 They do look at tracking and look at weight if you claiming buyer sent something else back. I won cases that way a couple of times where a scammer buyer sent back a broken screen instead of the phone they purchased trying to keep phone and sent random broken parts back. I had his accounts shut down as well as safe and trust internal time actually call me which is rare and told me what they found out which they normally don’t for privacy reasons. Yes eBay claims not to use pictures, or weight, or other factors as proof would do no good. Learned over the years keep calling request supervisors and follow up and eventually you get someone that will actually look into details instead of can responses. I even won a case against a scammer and used his feedback as proof he was doing return fraud as he did similar to a couple others. That guy was slick as he spread out scams every few months.
That sux! Tell us his name and we can block him and think twice before we sell him anything. Unfortunately, EBay 99.9% of the time takes the easy wrong route and takes the scammers side.
eBay don’t believe you ? .....if you say they different Sam ....they are different.....I’ve been selling buying since 2008 with a 100% feedback score .....I hate liars ...and I don’t lie .
sounds like you need to video the original packing delivery as well as the return unboxing. That way you have impenetrable case and if EBAY rules against you, you file a small claim in your local small claim court. EBAY will never show up to the local court date and you will win by default. In the event that they do send a rep, you will win the case because the judge will be able to see all the evidence.
If recording a return opening I'd suggest recording close or reading out the tracking number on the postage label if it has one. This way you can prove it was received from buyer and they can't claim you repackaged another item to open.
7:00 "the condition changed" Wt... the condition never "changed", the item was never returned. So if ebay staffer goes to their kids school to pick them up and the school gives them a different child is it a case of, "oh sorry the condition of your child has changed, oh and by the way you need to pay this kids school fee's".
Sadly I can already imagine that scammers can do the same. In other words, there's nothing stopping you from repacking package, resealing, etc. I'm literally in my first 30 days doing eBay...scammers make me nervous! 😓 It is a price of doing business, yes, but small businesses have such a thin line for profit. Thanks for the video! I'm really learning a lot! I'm an empty nester and learning from the beginning. It's fantastic to have your videos as reference!
Yeah, unfortunately that is probably what would happen. However I will still continue to record myself opening returns. Thanks for watching my videos 👍
Sorry to hear that happened! Luckily it hasn't happened to me yet, but I know if I increase listings it's bound to happen one day. At least we can all add this buyer to our blocked buyer's list!
Yes unfortunately most sellers will experience this. All you can do is try to minimize the impact scammers have & don't let them discourage you from selling.
I know of a woman who made a police report in the jurisdiction of her scammer and Ebay suddenly became cooperative, and refunded her 100%. Video of you opening the package will help if they want it to, or they can just say it's inconclusive.
I would take it to the police and open a mail fraud/theft case against the scammer. And then give the police case number to ebay. They're going to look harder if the police are involved.
That scam seems like a lot of effort considering the net result is they’re exchanging one pair of jeans for a nicer pair of jeans. I swear some people just do this for entertainment. Sorry it happened to you.
I had read that a seller sold a Slow Cooker. "UA-cam" [Nic & Andrea Hills] Scammed. The buyer complained that it was not new and sent back an old well used model. The seller complained to ebay with lots of photos and documentation. However ebay basically informed the seller if the buyer returns a house brick to you we will still look in their favour [the buyer] Again just this morning he has had the same scamming issue.
I actually record me packing my items so I can prove what I sent plus any returns. I have successfully defended 6 of these with my packing and unpacking evidence. Also one rare case used it in a small claims court victory.
How to beat an eBay scammer at their own game. When they try to send you a package with fake products to get a refund, report to eBay that you never received it and also mention that you have suspicions that you're dealing with a spam buyer.
Maybe if there is no tracking however once i didnt receive a parcel so i assume it was lost in the post. I tried to get my money back but the seller won the case because they had a postage receipt. I was a noob at the time and could have had the decision reversed based on the fact that it was the postal service that was responsible for the lost item so ebay had no right really to come to their conclusion. I mean you can have all the receipts in the world but if the package isnt delivered i shouldnt have to bare that burdon. Ebay try it on big time. I am much more savvy now and always check their policy against any move i make with them now. Good luck out there everyone !

I have been starting to sell vintage band tour shirts from my past, which are going for a good amount of money (hundreds $$ per shirt) and I am super worried about some a-hole trying to pull this BS with me.
Sold a vintage camera & buyer returned a different body to the one I sent which had loads of faults. Had serial numbers of both the one I sold and the one I received - also filmed me opening the return. Didn’t matter ebay still sided with buyer. Seems impossible to fail as a scammer. I’m currently taking the buyer to small claims court knowing full well they have no evidence at all. Technically I’m taking his wife to court as it was her account but I don’t care.
Excellent, super important video and very helpful comments. I’m going to start filming when I package to sell, I’m going to use a UV pen, and I’m going to record when I open returns. I hate to spend all that time but eBay has gone downhill and it is necessary.
Long time ago I sold things on Ebay when it wasn't as bad, but now, I wouldn't want the problems you had. This is a different world today, there are people out there that make a lot of money scamming people like yourself and that is why I'm out. Good luck to you in the future and you've learned a good lesson, the next time you will be better prepaired to so you don't get scam.
Good video Samson. My latest one was on a pair of shoes. The customer left a negative feedback that they were FAKE. Not being an expert on shoes i message the buyer to return the shoes for a complete refund. THEY DID NOT RETURN the shoes. Customer service at Ebay said they can not remove the feedback due to “the customer has a right to reflect their experience”. After digging into the buyer i found out that they sell the same brand of shoe! Ebay still won’t remove the negative feedback. UGHHHHH!
Damn that really sucks. Keep trying with both eBay & the buyer. If all else fails offer the buyer a partial refund in exchange for feedback revision & put it down as a loss.
We had something similar happen to us. Buyer sent back a totally different item and when we contacted him, he told us that THATs the item we shipped him (no, not even close) and that he couldn't have possibly sent that item because he didn't even have one like that "in stock". He then asked if we had video of us opening the package to prove it. This being our first problem like that, we didn't. CLEARLY got scammed. We blocked the buyer and in the future, we will record all returns!
Sellers need to start filing police reports against these people. Show any evidence to the police instead of Ebay. Then give eBay the police report number. I have heard of eBay taking scams like this seriously when the law is involved. I would also tell the buyer I am filing a police report against them with their local police department since you have their name and address from the shipping label.
Great video. I watched your video for new e-bay sellers which was also excellent. It sounds like e-bay doesn't take very good care of their sellers in multiple ways from the comments I have read. I have a lot to sell but am having second thoughts about using the e-bay platform.
only way to solve it is to stop useing ebay! i use mercari much better protection. if enough people would leave ebay then they would have to change there policy or go under
I have my first return heading to me now, I'll make should to video it. Do you think it helps to unbox it in front of someone like a post office employee or even a police officer at the station?
I just had a buyer return an empty box instead of an iPhone 13. I took photos of the parcel on the scales before I sent it, which matched the weight on the post office receipt. I also took pictures of the returned parcel before opening showing the weight as a full 170g lighter. I did video myself opening the empty parcel but eBay said they cannot accept videos as evidence. I assumed they would find in the buyers favour after reading so many negative comments about eBay's seller protection. However, they found in my favour so no refund for the buyer. I also blacklisted the phone so the buyer couldn't use it. They paid £400 for a phone they now can't use and can't complain because they said they returned it 😂So take lots of photos before sending/opening people!
Even if case was closed you could have appealed the decision. Also it always depends on the customer rep when getting neg feedback removed. If one won't do it just wait a day and call back and try again.
i don't sell alot but have 100% postitive feedback. I saw a few videos like yours...its frightening! When I sell now, I take a video of the label and me packing the box until it is taped shut. I wonder if you can add something to the return policy? Liek the buyer needs to video the unboxing process and supply pictures before sending back. Or if the outcome is against the seller, that you will pursue theft charges with a police report like a seller has done in the past?
Just email the buyer in the future and say you have a video recorded opening of the the return (with the postman/courrier in view) and that you are obliged to inform them that you will be taking them to small claims..(mention this might effect their credit rating in the future aswell as having to foot the case fees)..even if you don't have this recording,i bet it would make more than a small percentage of buyers sweat it and maybe change their mind.
I've been a four time victim of Ebay INAD fraudulent returns. The answer is to sue Ebay so that the cost of their current INAD system exceeds the benefits. I agree that there needs to be a clearinghouse among sellers regarding bad buyers - a blacklist.
Ebay sucks for seller protection. Looks like you have to document, video record every step, and almost sign your life away to get Ebay to be on your side. I would never sell anything on Ebay and it is only going to get worse. Good luck in your selling.
I have been scammed in a similar way on facebook. I was tricked into issuing a refund for merchandise before I even got the merchandise back. Fortunately, most people are honest, but now I avoid posting expensive items only because it is not worth the stress and annoyance especially because no matter how much proof you have ebay will always side with the buyer.
Anyone have suggestions for what a seller can do to protect themselves from fake INAD claims other than just factoring in the average cost of these losses in pricing? Even adding Australia Post insurance appears to be ineffective for scams as it requires the recipient to take the damaged item to the Post Office for assessment and compensation. Have you worked out a method to protect yourself from this Samson, have you had any more of these or won any appeals? I've been looking for an answer to this tonight as I have a suspicious buyer who I'm sending a $500 item tomorrow. Now on alert I've double checked I'm covered against the common deceptions, but still haven't found a way to protect against a fake INAD and receiving some junk from the back of their shed in place of my actual item...as far as I can tell there's nothing stopping them from keeping the real item, sending back a used kitty litter tray and calling it a return. I was going to just insure it but found out that won't work. Any ideas comrades?
I'm looking for answers too, as someone just started a return on an item they claim doesn't work (I literally tested it a couple of days earlier). The only potential answers I've found are recording the unboxing and evidence of reporting it to the police
If it's not busy and its the USPS you can ask if you and open the item at there counter before you ship. USPS counter is under video surveillance also you can ask on a return item if you can open box at there counter, if USPS cooperates and the scammer sent you a damaged or different item all together you can file a report to the post master general. If the transaction is across state lines this is Mail Fraud which is a federal offense. I heard from some videos on UA-cam they had a small Post office that would help them.
Your videos are awesome and very informative. I appreciate you sharing your experiences with us. You always motivate me to stay on my grind. It is very frustrating at times and never easy. Thanks for all you do!!
I document what the item looks like before packaging, what the package looks like on the USPS counter after I dropped it off,and I always box ship and use bubble wrap.
Ebay protects the buyers and not the seller. I sold a iPhone 12 Pro Max. The buyer said they received the item with no phone in the box and then eBay said I owed them. A total ripoff. I will never sell with them again.
It sucks. They also have to keep in mind the possibility that sellers can be trying to lie about buyers returning wrong items too, especially if there's bad blood. A lot of vindictive dishonest people out there on both sides. And Ebay is always going to not want to lose the buyer's business.
I’ve had a similar issue. A buyer bought 3 similar things from 3 different sellers including me. They tried returning another sellers item to me. I asked them to send pictures of the item they wanted to return highlighting the specific areas with problems. Long story short I sent pictures back comparing what they sent to listing photos and explained they were showing me something else.
As a newer seller on eBay, I have watched many videos re eBay incl. several by ladies who closed down their resale business bc of the "quality of the buyers is just lower" (to quote one). Both cited harassment and scams. Worries me a bit but I will have to find out on my own just how bad it is or is not.
You also want to carefully video your packaging the item, especially videoing the identifying characteristics of the item, and the address. Also buy a roll of the security tape that cannot be removed without destroying the tape.
That sucks to hear. Thanks for sharing your story though. There's good people in this world and bad people. Clearly you had an experience with a very bad seed. Sending positive vibes and prayers your way.
what would you have done differently, lets say if the package returned did not resemble jeans? Is there a way to contact eBay support prior to opening and getting their assistance? Unfortunately it seems as the scammer may have the upper hand. Thank you for your video!
Sam: I got scammed by an Ebay buyer . I bought an item that from the Ebay buyer. The Ebay buyer changed my Shipping Address to his friend's address with my name on it. Ebay was helpful at all, and I wasn't able to get my money back!
Sorry this happened to you and it’s a lesson that we all need to consider as it can happen to any of us. Thank you for sharing the info as it’s important.
eBay only protects the buyer these days. I’m getting so sick of dealing with scammers and getting no help from eBay customer service. They just keep allowing it to happen. I sell antiques on ebay and I’m going to a different auction platform. Buyers buy something expensive wait until they receive the item then you get the funds, well part of it(minus the 12.9% that they take from the shipping too which is ridiculous!) then they wait til the last minute and file a return betting on the gamble that you don’t have the full amount paid that you never even got in the first place in your available balance (bc of the ebay fees) to facilitate the refund for a return then they refund the buyer and they get to keep the item. It’s ridiculous.
Funny how you have to jump through hoops to prove thing as a seller but the buyers dont have to. Thanks for the info. I have added him to my block buyers list too.
What if you sell an electronic item, and the buyer removes the parts from the inside to make some profit off the parts and then requests a refund because it is not “working”. What can I do to prevent myself from getting scammed like that??
Just started my ebay store, and I worry about the same thing should I record my self boxing up the item im shiping out also? So I can have a before and after?
The only thing u can do in this particular situation is block & report the buyer. Doesn’t matter if u open the return, eBay still won’t credit the seller. They’ll always side w the buyer.
Ebay protects buyer scammers, buyer scammers out number seller scammers by a million to one. Seller scammers are extremely rare, if there is a seller scammer, the buy will aways get their money back.
I record unboxing as a buyer to... well mostly when something looks off with the parcel, like the weight or size and especially if it rattles like something is broken but I've never had to use it as evidence fortunately.
I think if I ever start selling on eBay or anywhere else, I’m gonna record myself packaging the item and shipping it, and if I get a return record myself opening the package. I feel this would possibly be a good way to get enough evidence and avoid getting scammed by certain people.
I got through to an ebay rep' on the message service regarding 'untrue' negative feeback to request removal. I proved my point but still they refused to remove it and said it was 'the buyers experience'. I stated that untrue and false claim statements are against ebay policy however that fell on deaf ears. I had to phone ebay to have the untrue statement negative removed which this ebay rep' realised right away. I would recommend phoning ebay for similar requests.
Thanks for this video. I just got a return request for a $550 item. Buyer has zero feedback but has been on Ebay for 3 years. I suspect a scam and to receive back something totally different that what I sold - so again, thanks for the recomendation to video the opening of the return. I most certainly will do this after mentioning it to the buyer in hopes of persuading him to not attempt to be fraudulent.
I worried about potential being scammed by buyer. I’m selling hi priced jewelry items on eBay and Do you personally think it’s worth it to take the risk of selling these items on eBay. Even though I have proof of purchase and verification that the items I have a real. Thanks
BS, HAVE WITNESSES! actually have a camera person recording all you need, no way is ebay going to deny you when you have a witness, done deal no way they can argue this.. could mean big trouble if they do.... what needs to happen is ebay needs to get rid of all the riff raff they know are scammers, these people scamt over and over and ebay plays stupid, for what? $3? stupid.. blatant, sending back things that were never sent with proof in pics but no ebay lets them stay and often rewards them... so ignorant, how long does ebay think this can last? once their reputation is primarily plagued with scammers folks will stop rolling the dice and look elsewhere, pay more to buy locally.. not rocket science sucks for sellers but there are other platforms.. and more will come along with stricter security, I honestly don't feel ebay should be rewarded for rewarding scammers, right up there with pedos and such
It would seem to me that recording the opening of a returned item would not be proof enough. You would have to record yourself packaging the item for shipping to demonstrate that the item shipped was the item sold, and even then it could be argued that you pulled a switch after the recording. The moral of the story is that there are people out to get you and there is almost nothing you can do to protect yourself. Though I am not an eBay seller, I am a business person and have been scammed on more than one occasion. It is the cost of doing business.
So learning to sell on OTHER PLATFORMS is the bestest way to stay prepared and avoid scammers on & IN ebay, no wonder people are LEAVING in droves from their site. Thanks for sharing your adventures in ripoff 101, lessons 👍💡
You can suppose appeal the decision, sometimes they reverse the out come to your favor. I had a similar situation, they didn't ask for any proof and the case was reversed to my favor. With a false INAD I recorded since I was getting the package from the mail carrier all the time I was opening and inspecting the item, eBay sided to the scammer, they didn't even asked for the video and pictures I offered, just ignored them. The appeal didn't work for me this time. More often I want to change my items to Postmark.
I imprint my merchandise with an invisible trademark (visible under a black light) and inform the scammer of such if he tries a switch. It has always stopped them.
This reminds me to something similar that happened to a coworker and friend of mine not so long ago, we do not sell on ebay but we work as customer service agents on a luxury retail ecommerce company and we get scammers all the time, one day, my friend was assisting a customer regards a refund of a return the customer did, we have a policy that returns can take 10-15 business days, the customer was contacting us because it has been more than 15 business days already and she/he hasn't been refunded, normally, we agents do not refund the returns since this is the warehouse job but in some cases that the WH hasn't refunded we do provide the refund, my friend then was authorized to refund by a Sup and she did, days after, the warehouse informed that the customer never sent back the original item purchased but a notebook instead.

@@thetechgenie7374 only now (July 25 2022) saw your post. I'm very grateful for your input...very helpful. 👍 👌
That sux! Tell us his name and we can block him and think twice before we sell him anything. Unfortunately, EBay 99.9% of the time takes the easy wrong route and takes the scammers side.
Yeah definitely frustrating. His username is "brodericel-0"
@@SamsonTV Thanks
That’s a good idea to record yourself opening up returns.
I definitely recommend it.
eBay don’t believe you ? .....if you say they different Sam ....they are different.....I’ve been selling buying since 2008 with a 100% feedback score .....I hate liars ...and I don’t lie .
@@RumpleXstillXskin Doesn't matter. Not real evidence. You could just have re-wrapped it.
sounds like you need to video the original packing delivery as well as the return unboxing. That way you have impenetrable case and if EBAY rules against you, you file a small claim in your local small claim court. EBAY will never show up to the local court date and you will win by default. In the event that they do send a rep, you will win the case because the judge will be able to see all the evidence.
record with a witness, both ways sending and receiving? specially big ticket stuff... yessir make a habit out of it..
If recording a return opening I'd suggest
recording close or reading out the tracking number on the postage label if it has one. This way you can prove it was received from buyer and they can't claim you repackaged another item to open.
Good advice.
Very true.
Exactly
Sadly I can already imagine that scammers can do the same. In other words, there's nothing stopping you from repacking package, resealing, etc. I'm literally in my first 30 days doing eBay...scammers make me nervous! 😓
It is a price of doing business, yes, but small businesses have such a thin line for profit. Thanks for the video! I'm really learning a lot! I'm an empty nester and learning from the beginning. It's fantastic to have your videos as reference!
Yeah, unfortunately that is probably what would happen. However I will still continue to record myself opening returns. Thanks for watching my videos 👍
Recording opening a return can make some good UA-cam content; however, that's about it.
Wow! What a shame! But at least you did get the negative feedback removed.
Thank you for Sharing this with us 🙂
Yes it is important to take the positives from situations like this 👍
I know of a woman who made a police report in the jurisdiction of her scammer and Ebay suddenly became cooperative, and refunded her 100%.
Yeah, it's really bizarre. I am thinking they brought the first pair in the wrong size and couldn't return them.
I’m going to start doing that.
@@natmol1595 I actually did have something lost in the mail and after 2 months I told the seller and they sent me a new package. 6 months later I finally received the original package lol it was badly beaten up and the tracking never updated.
Take your case to the police department. This is fraud, maybe even mail fraud.
The buyer has probably done this before and will do it again.
lol police won't give 2 shits anymore than ebay does considering that while it is fruad it's also still petty theft.
Fantastic video. Thank you for sharing. Loved the vagueness of the eBay Staff member “Yes, you can try that.” I’m pretty sure they’d still charge you full listing fees too. eBay are so classy.
Thanks for watching!
Thank you for sharing, I haven’t yet started my eBay store as still setting up but it’s so too to know about all the possibilities that could happen and you give us great detail about what to do .👍
Glad it was helpful! Best of luck selling on eBay.
Just another reason why I don’t listen on eBay. To many scams to many fees. It’s just not worth it;
Long time ago I sold things on Ebay when it wasn't as bad, but now, I wouldn't want the problems you had.
I am a new seller, and I didn't think about recording the opening. I just thought there was nothing I could do. Thank you for sharing
Great video. I watched your video for new e-bay sellers which was also excellent. It sounds like e-bay doesn't take very good care of their sellers in multiple ways from the comments I have read. I have a lot to sell but am having second thoughts about using the e-bay platform.
Sounds like eBay doesn’t do anything to protect their sellers.
only way to solve it is to stop useing ebay! i use mercari much better protection. if enough people would leave ebay then they would have to change there policy or go under
They never have had sellers back. What's new ?
I have an occasion where a seller canceled an item after it was bought and never got the money back. I always check their rating now before buying.
I have my first return heading to me now, I'll make should to video it. Do you think it helps to unbox it in front of someone like a post office employee or even a police officer at the station?
I don't think that would be necessary, however 100% record yourself opening the return.
Thanks! So glad you find my videos helpful 👍
I document what the item looks like before packaging, what the package looks like on the USPS counter after I dropped it off,and I always box ship and use bubble wrap.
Thats why I think its important to view their profile. How long its been running and what is left as feedback from them and from the sellers.
Ebay protects the buyers and not the seller. I sold a iPhone 12 Pro Max. The buyer said they received the item with no phone in the box and then eBay said I owed them. A total ripoff. I will never sell with them again.
You have to record the return from the moment the post person delivers it to your hands and record unbroken while you open it....or it is useless.
Sorry this happened to such an honest seller. Your videos are great thanks for sharing
Thankyou! I appreciate the support.
Why do you accept returns specifically on clothing?

Love ur accent!! Bomb videos across the whole channel! Sorry bout this buyer 🤦🏻♂️❤️

Would not accepting returns help?
Thanks for sharing mate 🤜🏽🤛🏽
Sam: I got scammed by an Ebay buyer . I bought an item that from the Ebay buyer. The Ebay buyer changed my Shipping Address to his friend's address with my name on it.
Ebay was helpful at all, and I wasn't able to get my money back!
Sorry this happened to you and it’s a lesson that we all need to consider as it can happen to any of us. Thank you for sharing the info as it’s important.
Very true, lesson learned.
Your efforts to assist us are greatly appreciated...
Thanks
My pleasure!
Was the package weight different from what you sent ?
eBay only protects the buyer these days.
Next time have eBay call you. It might help. Thx for the tip of recording the opening.

I'm the US, I just a submit a BBB complaint when I get scammed on eBay. I send the BBB my proof and eBay refunds me usually the same day.
If you’ve got the buyers address then it’s time to mask up, catch a plane and go goblin mode😈
Funny how you have to jump through hoops to prove thing as a seller but the buyers dont have to. Thanks for the info. I have added him to my block buyers list too.
Yeah, that's the way it goes, unfortunately. You have to do everything 100% right to even have a fighting chance of winning a case against a buyer.
What if you sell an electronic item, and the buyer removes the parts from the inside to make some profit off the parts and then requests a refund because it is not “working”. What can I do to prevent myself from getting scammed like that??
Thanks for your advices, bro. Your tips and information are very useful, keep going!
Cheers man! Glad you find the videos useful.
What I’ve heard some are doing is calling the police in the buyers area and placing a police report.
Mail fraud to be exact!
Thanks for sharing this information. I’m sorry you were scammed and yes Ebay have a lot to answer for.
So, the creep scams you AND leaves you negative feedback.

Very helpful and informative video. Thank you!!
Glad it was helpful!
I don't understand why the scammers are getting away , ebay have really making it difficult for sellers..
Just started my ebay store, and I worry about the same thing should I record my self boxing up the item im shiping out also? So I can have a before and after?
I would if I were you.
eBay can be an awful place sometimes.
Yes, I will be doing it for all returns from now on. It may not be 100% effective but it's all we can do as sellers.
I think if I ever start selling on eBay or anywhere else, I’m gonna record myself packaging the item and shipping it, and if I get a return record myself opening the package. I feel this would possibly be a good way to get enough evidence and avoid getting scammed by certain people.
Informative video mate, bummer you got scammed but good to see you’re all over it and being thorough with handling it. 👌
Cheers man, yeah it's definitely unfortunate but all you can do is learn from it.

Everything can be faked.
I worried about potential being scammed by buyer. I’m selling hi priced jewelry items on eBay and Do you personally think it’s worth it to take the risk of selling these items on eBay. Even though I have proof of purchase and verification that the items I have a real. Thanks
Is it possible they bought two pairs of jeans and meant to return the other pair but mistook it for your pair somehow? I could see that happening
That is horrible!! Ebay let that person steal from you. That's a lot of money to be out of. Thank you for sharing this information
Yes I’ve been through a similar scam. Yes, I lost as well. Recording the opening or unboxing is something too easy to fake so that won’t help.
$3? stupid.. blatant, sending back things that were never sent with proof in pics but no ebay lets them stay and often rewards them... so ignorant, how long does ebay think this can last? once their reputation is primarily plagued with scammers folks will stop rolling the dice and look elsewhere, pay more to buy locally.. not rocket science
sucks for sellers but there are other platforms.. and more will come along with stricter security, I honestly don't feel ebay should be rewarded for rewarding scammers, right up there with pedos and such
It would seem to me that recording the opening of a returned item would not be proof enough.

Send high dollar items with signature confirmation. Beware sometimes a buyer might be in cahoots with the mail carrier. Though rare it happens.
