There are some UA-camrs who do "restorations" that end up damaging or degrading the product in some way, and i always appreciate how immaculate and careful your skills are. You could do serious museum-quality work, I'm sure of it!
The gba is going to be 20 its next birthday and the ds is 16 and the 3ds is almost 10 years old. All of these feel like 11 years old 7 years old and 3 years old crazy how time flys by
I think the gba sp aged really well, the clamshell design still looks good nowadays, the buttons look sleek, and the font used for the advance logo still looks modern.
I absolutely love to clean my handhelds, so I feel like home in this channel. In fact, I have learned many tricks from you here and there, so thank you! Also, I love the importance you give to all the process with your camera shots, it's really a lot of effort, and the result is incredible.
For a few months now I've been watching your content about every day and I want to thank you for the amazing content you provide for everyone these videos have been great keep it up. Although I'm not an og these past months seemed to go slow but when I watch your videos it seems to make my day go faster and I want to thank you for providing content for everyone. thank you for the great experience.
@@unstableturtleduck I'm not doing it, I'm making fun of Elliot saying to do something on a game that's not expensive and he does it on an Everdrive which is very expensive
really been enjoying that there are a few gameboy modifying and restoring channels all with incredibly high production value. Thank you for putting so muc heart and soul into your videos Elliot. Very enjoyable to watch and have inspired a few gameboy related projects for myself as well.
The spray joke was pretty dangerous! Hope the spare didn't hurt your eyes!!! BTW big fan of your retro game consoles videos, plz give us more interesting content!
Fun Fact: For those who are interested, these GBA's were mainly sold at the Rip Curl line of stores in the beach city Torquay! If I recall, I've seen one in the past- but that's just me!
I love your content soooo muuuch, i pray the best for you in life as a thanks for all of the great and enjoyable content you have given us across the years. And above all Happy Anniversary!! (Ik it’s after it happened but still, hope you had fun!!) Many thanks from you followers and viewers!!!!
Hi from France, just discovered your channel 2 days ago, and what a pleasure, exactly the kind of "relaxing retro gaming video" I was looking for. Thanks
I happened to get a pikachu sp years ago for about $12 and I had no clue what it was worth, I just loved Nintendo and Pokémon. I’m very pleased to say it’s still in perfect condition and lives in a protective case with my red sp. 👍🏻
A trick I use to remove the front part of the screen is use an sewing neddle to remove the little spongy pads. The chance of damaging them or the frame drops a lot with a needle.
I have one of these, I bought it at a Ron Jon surf outfitters in the US. But it was listed as a used thing. I've never seen another game boy for sell in a sporting goods store like that, it was just randomly next to a stack of Oakley
Ive seen a fair amount in Australian 2nd hand shops but not recently. Maybe they were horded at some point i recall they were sold at retail for a while. As far as SPs go not the rarest but id imagine importing them would be hard.
I'm guessing your favorite color is green, jugding from your wall colour and your phone case colour. Green is my favorite colour too (favorite shade is 'Pine Tree Green')
@@bigtasty1082 Yeah that makes sense. Kind of like how tokyo exclusives aren't that big a deal if your in japan. Never gave these much thought till now tbh.
Considering the fact that not nearly as many Rip Curl GBAs were made as the standard, plain GBAs and the fact that they were only sold in Australia and only available for purchase at certain retailers, I'd say they're pretty rare.
I've still got mine, in australia. I think my parents got it from target, which is strange cos target doesn't sell rip curl clothing as any aussie would know
when he said they only came out here in straya i did a quick ebay search n found a near complete rip curl shell for $25. score :P should have it next week
I love your vids thank you for entertaining me for hours I also love old consoles I just recently got an original gameboy thank you for showing me models of gameboys I dident even know existed thank you and keep up the good work
Coll video and cool repair, thanks for showing all the process as always, love your channel. Are you going to make more videos about more retro stuff like casset players? I just watched a couple and they are cool too.
Not that it matters but I think q-tip is a brand name for cotton swabs like sharpie is for permanent markers. Just odd how some things are so popular we call all of them by one brand.
Really sorry about the audio levels! Had an absolute mare! Hopefully you can still enjoy the video! Thank you so much for 298k! We’re so close!
It's ok
I really didn’t notice anything :)

You are one of the main reasons why I love trying to restore old electronics, so thanks for making these excellent, high quality restoration videos.
Dramatic choice of music, at first, lol
It also looks like you're the only one who made a video about this limited edition gba sp.
Good job!

Good thing you wear glasses, had Windex sprayed in my eye once. I hurt.
Ripcurl and quick silver both did their own special ones
Loved the style on this one :) That skit was actually so decent... Good stuff :)
Pretty cool seeing this while living 5 minutes from the Ripcurl HQ in aus

By now, you're so good at this, you could do an "eyes closed restoration" challenge and do it perfectly.
its amazing how many weird exclusives there are for hand held consoles!
Very nice... never seen that design before - being from the UK!!! Lovely restoration job though... looks good as new! :-)
You can harvest those springs from floppy disk doors. You might need to trim the legs.
Really do agree with Elliot on the iFixit kit. I got one myself and it's helped me a lot with reshelling and reassembling gameboys.
Oh also wanted to say, your editing and angles etc. have gotten so good, excellent work
