A start you could try out is start at Twinluna Valley. Buy some cheap food and check the skill merchant at Golden bazaar. Talk to the farmer and then go strait to the secret hideout dungeon. Grind that until you get the Primal Ghoul armor. You can solo it very easy and you’ll level up fast. 1500xp a run. It cost 100 Utar and 6 hours. The dungeon guarantees a gift and some piece of equipment. You’ll also receive a boat load of white rose potions. Which will set you up to recruit the people you want and you’ll be unstoppable with the leech from primal armor.
There is another arborean near mireton who needs clear water. you get clear water by delivering 1x of each shell from agadir to the guy in snowride. Additionally, you can pick up 2 frogmen from agadir the first time you ask the fisherman and 1 each week afterwards for free (although farming them is probably bad for the speedrun going there before or after the cave quest is efficient). The dungeons in umbral cliffs are pretty good and between fleur and the zagros exit there are also 2 dryad events, one lets you recruit the other one gives you an item. And the pond gives you max HP/Mana potions. Failing the lovers quest in twintuna valley gives you a level 20 artifact that boosts the party HP (better to try to find something else for the berserker though, with lifesteal). Speaking of which, saving the goods from the merchant in the desert gives an absorbing fang of wilderness that boosts STR and gives lifesteal. The ghoul armor mentioned by joseph can also be found by fighting heroic spirits, as can ghostflame (a blade which has leech chance but applies bleed to yourself and everyone around you) although i ended up prefering the cruel blade of bloodthirst. Also, always enchant your horse for extra crit rate. Not sure if its from a mod but near triptych rock there is a miner, give him 50 ironstone and he gives you a (reuseable!) crystal that resets a characters skill points. Nearby some cultists are attacking an innocent which lets you get another trinket early on. Used josephs start, savescummed the lifesteal armor. Immediately got the same armor from a heroic statue. Anyways, taking extra akhal rep (so you can do the conclave) and starting with 5 talent points are both useful to boost ones start. talent wise i immediately went for horseskills, then heroes. Did the dragons once and the magic portal in zagros. Not sure if that's from a mod, but it can give you a dragon. I accidentally autosaved, so i got 2 grunts instead. I did the challenge on normal, no extra difficulty (had 2 levels unlocked but i didn't want to jeopardize my chances for the steam achievement by biting off more than i could chew). Managed to beat the desert bosses on day 28 but it still took me until day 74 to finish. Save scummed alot, especially trying to find the rulers or ifrit squads. I'm glad the next run i'll be able to play normally again, even if the difficulty setting will be higher.
A quick note on Leveling, and how Exp is shared. First each level you gain, gives more power. When you reach Max level, all the exp that would go to that character, will go to troops and other characters (Heroes). The exp share is 1:1 rate, unless you get Militia, or Champion which change the rates to 2:1 or 1:2. With Militia, all troops gets twice as much exp as heroes, and vise versa to Champion. So a way to power level, is disbanding any starting troops, this will increase the exp gain by a lot. Example with the Spirit Witch, if you start in Red Valley, there is a lvl 3 bandit camp, which if you use the right combo is done easily enough, giving a rough 830ish exp. Then there is a Bahar group which spawns at the Talent Shard. Which will give you a lot of exp as well. And you will find yourself leveling extremely quickly. For troops, the more max levels you get, the quicker it gets to level others up. (I got a level 1 Thur to become level 20 in two fights). Also as time goes, harder and stronger and more exp giving bandits and beasts will appear. But that doesn't help in a speed run. So less is more, and the more becomes stronger once you get the hang of the exp share system.
@@ebaocihc7085 To put it simply, lets say you get 100 exp, and you have 1 character and 9 troops. Without the bonuses, they would all get 10 exp each. But if the character is max level, then the troops will get 19 exp (10 / 9 = 1.1). And if we have the character + 1 of the troops max level, then it shares 20 exp to the other 8 troops which are not max level. But if only 1 Troop is not max level, then he/she gets all of the exp. If you have the skill that makes the Rate 2:1 for Character, then the character would get 2 exp per 1 for troops, making that 100 exp be given out as 20 exp for Character, and 8 exp per troop. And vise versa with the 1:2 which gives the Troops more exp. So if you have too many characters and troops not being max level, it makes the leveling process slow down. So less = more in this case.
@@DraconiusDragora Did you test the claim that when at max level, you don't count for exp distribution ? I always got the impression that's not the case, due to solo levelling to 20 being so, so much faster than when i kept my 3 squads for unlocking that redstone keep quest.
@@weeaboobaguette3943 I have done extensive tests on it. Every Max level, can't gain any exp at all, so the left over exp then goes to the other units. This is why leveling solo goes so much quicker, than having a squad with 4+ units. And if you do the smart thing and progress, the exp gain will go up as well. So having max level soldiers, will also make the low level and low ranking soldiers tier up way, way, way quicker. Since the exp pool to distribute becomes bigger.
you're right about epic not being much of a bigger challenge, just more of a time sink having to constantly replace units, or spend money on or farm white potions. I use the add-on that removes the arbitrary level 20 cap. When you hit level 40, the game is as easy as normal, if you stay ahead of everyone else on experience.
Does anyone know why my intel screen looks different from his here? The one I have is brown and it lacks all of the good character info like showing the character's skills and stuff.
I'll give it some thought. I'm currently enthralled with Dragon's Dogma Dark Arisen. Never played it before (no idea how I missed such an amazing game!) but I got it for sale on Steam for less than $4, so... not sure when I'll get bored of it. It's so fun and absolutely massive with tons of replay potential.
I have unlocked several difficulties and from what I’ve seen is that you don’t have to do it in 120 days. Leech can be found at the secret cave in twinluna valley from the primal ghoul armor (it’s a pretty low drop rate) and the ghost flame from the volcano (I would recommend the bleeding reduction skill book if you can find it)
That seriously frustrates me lol. The translation issues really mess with me sometimes. The text for the difficulty option in the legacy states the main quest has to be completed within 120 days. Well, I guess I'll see this run through to the end. If I unlock the next level even if it's not within 120 days...
@@rekersivegaming I’m enjoying watching it and I was also confused by it. I THINK* that it means you have to do the guardians by day 120 to get max legacy points but I can’t say for certain. When will the next part of this be uploaded? I've watched quite a few of your videos and am giving this challenge a try as well. Was aiming to do the steam achivement for beating the story in 3 months, but honestly I don't see how its possible. Running a berserker as well, just got to the negotiations part of the story and I'm at day 60 now. Troop composition is similar to yours, though I've found 4 companions and had the gifts to grab them. Riq, Alaf Jahim, Zina, and Princess Bellen. Originally my plan with this one was to conquer the map for the rest of my legacy points (missing city treasure ones and my first save already beat the main quest so no more access to the Ifrit map for those free units) but I saw the progress I was making and wanted to try for it. I don't see myself finishing in 90 days though since the negotiation part is so random / time consuming. Also I've seemed to notice that if you Manual your battles it takes a bit longer for them in real-time, but time in game does not pass. When you Auto your battles, time is passing while it auto-caculates. Could be a way to shave days off to try for that 90-day achivement. Any ideas?
First, congratulations on getting that fantastic group of companions! Second, there is no way you can get all the rest of the conquer achievements plus finish the main quest in time. I made progress and recorded, but the video got lost in the editing process, and I got so frustrated that I lost interest in starting over, so I decided to take a break.

Getting early companions, the treeant and golem seem key still. There is actually a 2nd treeant in the Thul area down in the bottom left-ish who you can pick up in addition to the one you get and it only asks for some clear water, which you get as part of the main quest in the ifrit area for talking to the gardener.
