  • This is how I bleached my hair from Brunette to blond at home by myself. I am not a professional... so if I can do it, chances are you can too!
    ** That being said, please follow this with your own discretion! This worked on my hair but everyone is different, so check your hair's health throughout each stage :) **
    For reference, my hair is brunette naturally and I had old balayage highlights when I started this process.

    My hair is extremely dark naturally - I'm Italian. And It takes a lot to get it to the platinum color that I like.... I always change my hair color, from dark, to light, to everything in between. I've had my hair colored in salons countless times; I have gone to hair schools when money was tight; I have had hairdresser friends do it at my house....but for the last several years, I have been doing it myself. I've made EVERY mistake you could imagine, which usually resulted in more than a few early morning trips to the store, wearing huge sunglasses, with my hair shame wrapped and covered, to buy whatever dye or product I decided I needed to fix the big oops piled atop my head under a wrap.
    I'm an artist, and, as such, I do have a knack for color theory. This has definitely come in handy every time I needed to figure out precisely what color was needed to fix/neutralize my mistakes. One of the most basic things you learn when studying color theory and the color wheel, particularly as it applies to painting, is the idea of “complimentary colors”, or, colors which appear opposite on the color wheel. In painting, complimentary colors are most vibrant when paired next to each other. However, when MIXED together, they cancel each other out/neutralize each other (resulting in a toned down, neutral, tan sort of color). Purple is opposite to yellow on the color wheel. Blue is opposite orange. If you look at toners, or blonde toning shampoos and conditioners, they are purple (sometimes bluish purple). They "tone" your hair by toning down, or canceling out, the brassiness (bright yellow/orange tones). The purple/bluish-purple neutralizes the bright yellow/gold/orange hues to a nice beige/white. When you bleach your hair, the mixture is also a lot of times bluish purple or purple. This is bc that particular bleach has toner in it.
    One of the best tricks I have discovered when going from dark brunette to platinum blonde is this : After I do the bleach thing with a high-lift bleach....I then dye my hair using an ASH BLONDE box dye. It doesnt matter how icky orange/gold or how highlighter-bright yellow my hair is, the ash blonde hair dye ALWAYS tones it and gives me that beautiful beige color with lots of white strands. Every single time I use bleach, I always dye it immediately afterward with an ash blonde hair dye. Because it never seems to matter how much bleach I use, for how long I let it sit, how high of a lift I use, or even how white I do seem to get it with the bleach, it is never quite the right tone. It always has that cheap, trashy look to it. And always has that tinge of gold or yellow. The ash blonde hair dye always fixes it. Try it!

      Wow thanks for that information..Do you have really thick hair? Also are you using extra light ash blonde dye? Do you dye your hair the same day after the bleach ? I'm worrying about my hair falling out from all the chemicals....better brown than bald.. 😂

    Ive gone to 2 salons...supposedly the top rated in my area, paid almost 1000 dollars...to have shit hair... SHIT...hair. never again. Maybe just my luck. But I don't believe in "salon" quality anymore. If you want something done right gotta do it yourself 😤

      The same here. They never seem to understand what i want and they always come with highlights. I am so sick of that. I am doing it myself now. I am blonde but not quite the tone i want it to be. Still experimenting.

      Been there. Paid 300 euros in a salon and my hair was DESTROYED afterwards. At home, on the other hand, I have always achieved at least good results.

      The same happens with me… I waited a couple of years to have my hair better again…better spend our money in good hair mask and high quality dyes. I cut my hair by myself with videos in UA-cam 😅 and my hair is beautiful now… only with my hands 🙌

      a lot fo them do suck, you just have to find the right salon and more importantly the right people/person...without spending a arm and a leg of course.

    What toner did you use the first time? And how long did you bleach it for the first time??
    That was beautiful and what I’m trying to achieve.
    I’m planning to bleach with a 20 developer as well but worried it won’t be light enough. My hair is light brown. It seems like it’s worked well for you!

    • @AnnaStralian
      @AnnaStralian  3 роки тому +2

      Sorry I missed your message! If you haven’t done you hair yet, from memory I’m pretty sure that for the first round I mixed Wella t11 and t14 toner and had the bleach on for an hour total. The 20 developer was perfect for my hair, but it wasn’t virgin hair (I had old hair salon highlights) so that could have helped/accelerated the development. Regardless though, I think it’s probably always safe to go lower with the developer as you can always lift it with a second round… but you can’t you back if you over bleach or damage your hair 😬😅 Good luck!! Or if you’ve already done it, I hope it turned out exactly how you wanted it to 🥰

      Haris Redic oh noo! I’ve been there! What’d you use that turned it grey? If it was a toner, they normally fade after a few washes... If you want it gone fast though, might be worth trying a different shade of toner?

    you should of really uggested if you go from as dark as your first picture to what you are at the end that you should be useing 30 volume. A lot of these youtubers just send women to the salon by doing these videos and misinforming.

    • @AnnaStralian
      @AnnaStralian  11 місяців тому

      Hi, thanks for the comment! As I said in the video, this is just my experience and what worked for me. For me, the 20% worked perfectly to get me from the level in the first pic to the second. I would always prefer to have to potentially do 2 rounds of 20% (with time in between) than 30% and risk the damage just because I’ve heard too many horror stories from friends. I’m not a hairdresser though lol so you may definitely be right to advise 30 for different people/ hair types & levels! Thanks again for adding to the discussion ☺️
