Great conversation. What a fascinating book and subject. I have a lot of negative feelings towards Nixon. However, Daniel has given me a lot to think about. Thank you CT!

I was not politically aligned with Nixon, but he could be quite charming. The day when he gave his resignation speech and cried made me cry. he seemed so broken. It was like a soliloquy.
Parents of his generation (and kind of mine) were not into expressing lots of love and appreciation forf their children. Parents considered their duty to be to teach a child to be a responsible and independent person. It was not that they did not love their children. It was just the attitude of their time. To some degree their form of discipline was their expression of love. They loved you enough to do the right thing for their child.

What a great interview, as a child of the 60s it shed new light. Thank you.
